Accuracy Is Safety in a World of Millimeters In 2018, 92.7 percent of consumer vehicles produced included at least one Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) feature. ADAS technologies are designed to improve the convenience and safety of driving by warning the driver that a crash is imminent or by temporarily automating certain aspects of vehicle control such as acceleration, braking or steering. As these technologies become more available to motorists, they have the potential to reduce rates of crashes, injuries and deaths on roadways. There is still a learning curve for
consumers, and the full potential realized by these technologies won’t occur until drivers understand how to use them as intended and avoid becoming overreliant on them. The same learning process applies to collision repairers, where the tolerances for sensor placement need to be precise to not only calibrate the sensors, but to ensure they are performing to the safety specifications as the OE intended. Automotive design has evolved rapidly in the past decade, not just the ADAS components. In order to address
TECH R&D Broadens Injury Application Angle for Uni-Seal Repair Product TECH’s R&D team has been actively pursuing parent company TRC’s 4r vison, to create and extract value from materials formerly considered to be at the end of their usable life. TECH’s R&D team took this vision to heart by altering the materials and process utilized in the manufacture of its one-piece Uni-Seal truck and passenger car repair products. By increasing the injury and repair angle from 25 degrees to 35 degrees, it greatly increases the number of tires that are able to be repaired verses scrapped,
thus keeping them on the road and out of landfills. According to TECH’s Vice President of Technology Bill Johnson, “We were confident that with slight modifications to the chemical composition of materials and our manufacturing process we could increase the application of our Uni-Seal product.” The TECH R&D team conducted rigorous road wheel testing with overloaded tires for over 240 hours using the TECH’s in-house endurance test protocol. In addition, it conducted FMVSS-

SATA RPS Cup System Enhances Body Shops’ Productivity When it comes to quality paint finishes, SATA sets the standard for the industry. The SATA painting system does just that, starting with the SATA Rapid Preparation System (RPS) multipurpose cups. The SATA RPS cups have a unique venting system that plays into the efficiency of the overall SATA system. The vents allow for an even flow rate through the cup – so, whether the cup is entirely full, half full or just has a couple ounces in it, the flow rate will stay the same. “It guarantees an even color match and film build throughout the paint job,” said SATA Dan-Am Co. Director of Sales and Marketing Tony Larimer. “What that means for a shop is that if a painter is mixing material, he might only need two ounces. He can mix just what he needs, get the same results and you don’t have the extra material that will go to waste.”
The cups can be used for mixing, spraying and when the job is complete, storage. For SATA spray gun users, there’s no need to buy additional mixing cups or cans – and the cups require no adapters. They mount directly to SATA spray guns. Each case of SATA RPS includes the cups, strainers of your choice and lids. No additional accessories are needed. Each time you use a new RPS cup, you have a clean sterile cup that does not deliver accidental contamination from previous jobs into your paint work.
RPS Cup Benefits Bendable: The RPS cups also have the built-in flexibility of the cup lid “neck” which allows painters to tilt the cups forward or side to side to spray at many different angles, on parts, rocker panels and

Sunex Tools Showing Off New Products & More at Show By Penny Whalen, Commercialization Marketing Manager
Our story began in 1977, when we built our reputation on industry leading impact sockets. However, a lot has changed since 1977, but the quality of our tools remains the same. For over 40 years, Sunex® Tools has developed and manufactured innovative tools that serve the automotive aftermarket as well as the industrial and commercial segments. Throughout the decades, our product
line has expanded based on the needs of our customers. We’ve grown from offering impact sockets and lifting equipment to hand tools, air tools, tool storage and shop equipment. Sunex products are trusted for their design and engineering, and we will continue to equip our customers with high quality tools at the best value, thanks to our rich heritage. Aftermarket Daily News bumper covers. This flexibility assists in making the RPS a great solution for more difficult paint jobs. Excluding the 0.3L minijet version. Clean: With SATA RPS, removing the cup from the spray gun becomes a clean and safe process. When the paint job is finished, squeeze the RPS cup and close the vent cap to create a vacuum inside. Now turn the spray gun upside down and pull the trigger to empty the material passage, ensuring easy gun cleaning and a tidy workplace. Safe: Occasionally during the paint process the material cup may accidentally knock into the vehicle or panel stand. Due to the robust threaded connection between the cup and the lid, any chance of the cup becoming detached is avoided, as is the chance to spill paint. Refillable: Refilling paint during the application process is sometimes neces-
sary. The design of the cup allows the simple and clean topping off and the easy exchange of the material filter, if required. SATA also has a version of the SATA RPS cups for UV coatings. The cup, lid and vent caps are completely black, not allowing light to cause the product to react in the cup. Painters or body techs who prime or paint using UV coatings can leave this in the cup all day, without having to mix small amounts throughout the day. You can get the UV version SATA RPS cups in the 0.6-liter size, and these can be used in all SATA guns. To try the cost-effective SATA RPS cups in your shop, ask your local SATA dealer for samples or for a demonstration.

Built with heavy duty 2-1/4-inch upright rubber strips and 1- 5/8-inch outer tubes, Sportsman X Grille Guard is designed to provide protection and style for years to come.
What Is the Cyber Garage Management System? The Cyber Garage management system is a computerized database platform which puts together, summarizes and does an analysis on all types of data and information that can help make the job of a company’s manager easier. The management system can also handle information in other parts of the operations of the company. This includes areas such as labor, parts, paint materials, human resources, sales, inhouse inventory control, online marketing, etc.
The management system functions to monitor the company’s activities and performance right on the go. The different managers can also make use of the information to get more insight into their department’s activities. The management system may be programmed to organically create monthly reports, or at other appointed time intervals, and may also be accessed to produce special reports when needed.
Our expert product developers ensure our products are built with durability and performance in mind to help you get the job done faster. Axle-Less: A New Breed of Trailer Suspension Technology Ordinary solutions solve ordinary problems. But when the problem is anythingbut-ordinary, an extraordinary solution is required. Timbren Industries has introduced a new type of trailer suspension that is nothing short of genius. Here’s why: no through axle; a quiet, smooth ride loaded or unloaded; maximum ground clearance; easy bolt-on installation; and fast retrofitting.
No Through Axle It all started with the U.S. military. They needed an off-road suspension that would enable a medical team to navigate effortlessly while carrying the injured from the battlefield. That’s when the engineers at
Timbren were asked to design a suspension that would address these specific challenges. As a result of months of careful research and creative planning, a prototype took shape. Needless to say, this proposal sidestepped the use of an axle. That’s right, no through axle. The first of its kind.
A Quiet, Smooth Ride Loaded or Unloaded With the use of two Aeon® rubber springs and a metal control arm, this exclusive design provides a ride so quiet that your customer is going to wonder if the trailer is riding on a cloud. Because the ride is so smooth, it’ll feel like the trailer never left the pavement.

may be interested in the matte finish films. Nothing sets off the lines of a vehicle like a matte or metallic matte finish. ORAFOL was the first to introduce its product in matte black – a move that got the automotive restyling industry’s attention and led an industry-wide shift from commercial use to consumer customization. ORAFOL engineers its products to be reliable and durable, serving both commercial and consumer applications.

Easy Bolt-On Installation It’s the precision-cut hanger that allows for easy, bolt-on installation. This durable metal component holds the entire suspension to the trailer’s frame. Safety, Hygiene and Boosting Employee Well-Being in the Auto Industry By Jenny Turner, Marketing Director, Industry, Essity
Now more than ever, skilled automotive service technicians are in high demand. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment of automotive service technicians and mechanics is projected to grow six percent from 2016 to 2026, and the number of vehicles in use is expected to rise in parallel (www.bls.gov/ooh/installationmaintenance-and-repair/automotive-servicetechnicians-and mechanics.htm#tab-6). There will also continue to be a strong desire from consumers to keep their vehicles operating at peak performance for as long as possible. As a result, automotive workforce will need to anticipate the maintenance challenges ahead and work towards achieving an even higher standard of quality service.
More importantly, automotive shop managers will need to set their organizations up for success not only by implementing the latest advancements in technology and equipment, but also by improving workers’ wellbeing, morale and job satisfaction. A recent study conducted by Tork, an Essity brand, finds that a resounding majority of employees in industrial settings identify operational efficiency, safety and hygiene, and organization of work environments as top enhancers of their wellbeing and overall happiness on the job. In fact, safety and hygiene rank higher than what many industry professionals would assume most impactful for employees on the line, such as advancements in technology and machinery (of those surveyed on the top factors influencing productivity and happiness, 96 percent chose
Pollution Control Products Co. an Industry Leader in Thermal Stripping Technology By Jo Simpson, President
The History of Burn-Off Ovens Is the History of Pollution Control My father, Peyton Simpson, started Pollution Control Products Co. the way most businesses get started – he saw a need and he solved a problem. The year was 1971 and a neighboring business was having a difficult time complying with the new Clean Air Act of 1970. That company rebuilt electric motors which required that the old copper wire coil and all varnish, epoxy, paint and insulation be removed and the stator thoroughly cleaned. Prior to today’s stringent environmental laws, this was often done by soaking the motor parts in kerosene and “burning off” the organic material in a pit
or metal container. Removing the material by hand is slow, expensive, often damaging to parts and physically unsafe for workers. Peyton simply asked, “If I can show you how you can reclaim your old motors safely without smoke and pollution, would you be interested?” The answer was an enthusiastic yes and the rest is history. The Controlled Pyrolysis® process and the first fully contained “pyrolysis cleaning oven” were born and a new company incorporated: Pollution Control Products Co. No More Toxic Solvents, Acids and Other Dangerous Materials Although our first ovens were used by electric motor rebuilders, we quickly adapted and developed ovens for use by

Organizations do not need to conduct a complete overhaul of their operations, nor will they need to spend top dollar in order to establish a safer, cleaner and enjoyable work environment. Facilities often overlook daily products including cleaning tools, but the truth of the matter is that 9 in 10 employees in industrial environments consider quality on-the-job tools to be a top enhancer of their productivity and general wellbeing. On the contrary, poor quality products that are not designed for the task-at-hand can harm workers’ performance. Disposable, task-based wipers provide end-users with a fresh, clean wiper that is free from any impurities or residue, and requires up to 20 percent
less effort, up to 23 percent less time and up to 27 percent less solvent to complete a task compared with rags and rental towels. Furthermore, taskbased wipers are proven to take up to 80 percent less storage space than rags, contributing to a more organized, well-run facility (panel test conducted by Swerea Research Institute, Sweden, 2014). Making the simple switch to taskbased wipers can help your facility produce better business results down the line. Automotive technicians will notice and appreciate the extra effort from their employer to encourage a healthier, safer and more efficient workplace. Most importantly, they will be happier, more productive and motivated to take on the challenges ahead.

AcuRite Rolls Out Atlas Weather Station Chaney Instrument Co. has announced the release of a new weather station, the AcuRite Atlas. Built with high-precision sensor technology, Atlas allows users to connect to hyperlocal weather conditions. Atlas has the ability to track UV exposure, light intensity and lightning, in addition to monitoring temperature, humidity, rainfall, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction. Along with these new features, Atlas offers an enhanced accuracy rating within one degree, improved durability and more frequent readings. “AcuRite Atlas is the future of personal weather monitoring and our most advanced weather station yet,” said AcuRite Meteorologist Kari Strenfel. “Atlas provides consumers with a weather system they can depend on to accurately predict a variety of weather conditions in their exact location, rather than relying on a weather report
that’s generated at the nearest news station or airport.” The launch of products like AcuRite Atlas is part of an increasing smart home technology trend providing home and business owners with highly accurate, actionable, personalized information. Weather stations are sought-after by a wide variety of audiences from industry professionals like landscapers and farmers, to personal at-home users interested in outdoor activities and the latest technology gadgets. Atlas allows users to quickly and easily access their data, archive it so they can look back and analyze historical information, and share it with fellow weather enthusiasts. Consumers are able to choose how they view their information, either on a high-definition touchscreen display or through remote monitoring, or both.
W3C Launches Work to Improve Web Advertising Experience Large numbers of websites are funded in part or wholly by advertising. The largest web advertising company reports quarterly revenues of over $25 billion in U.S. dollars. Website owners receive a percentage of that revenue in exchange for carrying adverts. Commerce, advertising, financial transactions and the security and infrastructure needed to support them was not part of the original web design. The advertising industry has developed methods to track viewers, some of which many consider to be overly invasive, as more users run software to block advertising; however, publishers of web pages see their revenue falling and have started to use more invasive adverts and in greater numbers, damaging users’ perception
of the web. The W3C invites participation in a business group on “Web advertising by design” for consideration of features and changes to the web platform that could better and more efficiently support web advertising. Although the advertising industry has taken a number of steps to improve, including both guidelines for controlling the sizes of adverts and work on reducing click fraud, solutions need to be integrated into the Open Web Platform, including: makers of web browsers, search engines and other technologies need to be able to offer good performance and a good experience; advertisers need reliable information about how many people saw their adverts, and control over

Genovation Cars: The Green Car Company
By Steve Keyes, Communications Director, Centigrade for Genovation Cars
Genovation’s long-term goal is to be a premier provider of high performance sustainable automobiles. Genovation is committed to advancing the state of the art in EV technology with the knowledge that performance EVs will accelerate the delivery of sustainable products for future generations. The Genovation GXE Corvette all electric supercar has broken several significant world records on multiple occasions while reimagining an American icon. Genovation is raising the bar in energy storage, propulsion, composite and suspension technologies. We ask our customers to join us on this jour-
ney.
In recent years, several issues have converged to create a demand for the kind of vehicle Genovation builds: Climate change, due to high carbon dioxide emissions, is now a widely accepted fact. As a global community, we must all take whatever actions we can to reduce harmful greenhouse gases. A recent draft report from the US Government titled Climate Science Special Report finds it "extremely likely that more than half of the rise in temperature over the past four decades has been caused by human activity." There has been an increase in the awareness of the negative effects of air pollution, especially on the young and old. The World Health Organization has
Optical Zonu Streamlines Base Station Hotel Connectivity with ZONUConnect By Gary Grimes, Director Sales RF Solutions, Optical Zonu Corp.
With the U.S. wireless service providers moving towards centralized network architectures, connecting to in-building and outdoor distributed antenna systems in the area often becomes a challenge. Base station manufacturers can offer only a CPRI fiber connection to Remote Radio Heads (RRH). However, available fiber can be scarce and expensive. Remote Radio Heads have a fairly large footprint in both space and power consumption, which costs money. This approach also puts the service providers’ base station RRHs at a remote location to which they do not have free access. With ZONUConnect™, Optical
Zonu offers a streamlined connectivity between any base station configuration and any DAS that minimizes the fiber count as needed with much higher efficiency than any other solution, including CPRI-to-RRH. It minimizes the total equipment needed, which results in the lowest cost and rack space. The RFOver-Fiber solution allows the service provider to keep all its base station equipment in the centralized facility with 24/7 access and a common, battery backed-up power plant. This universal, efficient connectivity greatly simplifies the work for network maintenance engineering. This also ensures a clear system responsibility demarcation point for the service provider and the DAS owner. The economy of ZONUConnect
The Expansions of Original Parts Group Determined to supply Chevelle and El Camino parts to GM enthusiasts and others in the restoration industry, Dave Leonard, President and Founder of Original Parts Group, started a new enterprise out of a two-car garage in Santa Ana, California, named Chevelle Classics. He found very quickly that he would need more space and moved his business into a larger garage. As the product line grew to over 5,000 parts and accessories, the garage was no longer cutting it. Chevelle Classics moved into its third location, a warehouse large enough to house an enormous amount of product for its growing product line. Chevelle Classics continued to invest in manufacturing, as its number
one goal and focus was to produce the largest selection of reproduction parts for Chevelle and El Camino enthusiasts. As its product line continued to expand, Chevelle Classics was forced to pack up and relocate on multiple occasions. By June of 1990, it was in its sixth location and its product line had grown to over 20,000 different restoration and high-performance parts. In 1994, parts and accessories were added for Pontiac (GTO, Tempest and Lemans) and Chevelle Classics now had the largest selection of in-stock classic GM restoration parts in the United States. With multiple product lines now available, Dave found it necessary to give his company a more suitable name, and Chevelle Classics officially became

estimated that up to 2.4 million people a year die from causes directly attributed to air pollution. Research has shown a correlation between air pollution and the incidences of asthma, particularly among children. As atmospheric CO2 levels rise, the gas dissolves into our oceans, causing the water to become more acidic. Ocean acidification negatively impacts biodiversity and is particularly damaging to shellfish and kelp, putting fisheries around the globe at risk. The Genovation team is comprised of a small and capable group of engineers and automotive experts that are committed to building world class products. In order to achieve this goal, Genovation has teamed with one of the world’s preeminent contract manufac-
turers, The Prefix Corporation, to make the GXE a reality. Steeped in Detroit and European automotive know how, Prefix is helping make the GXE a stylish, robust, world class electric supercar. At the same time, we have teamed with a number of smaller technology companies, like Stafl Systems, that bring a fresh approach to innovation in the automotive sector. The combination of large and small, of traditional and new organizations, has resulted in the creation of the world’s fastest certified street legal electric supercar, the Genovation GXE.
becomes more dramatic as the number of bands supported increases. The rack space and fiber required to support three bands is the same as for five bands, and the price tag is much the same. All other solutions become bigger and more expensive for every new service added. This makes ZONUConnect the choice for future-proof interconnections. In addition to transporting multiple bands and sectors over a low fiber count, ZONUConnect includes an Ethernet data connection between the sites over the common fiber. This permits full system self-discovery during computer set up and remote SNMP monitoring and control. The Fiber Transport also features an optional optical switch feature. This permits the carrier to route the services to an
auto-redundant fiber path. The ZONUConnect Ethernet connection incorporates Optical Zonu’s digital SFPs with built-in micro OTDR. If the data path is lost, the unit immediately reports the location of the break in the fiber, enabling a short service outage time. Optical Zonu’s ZONUConnect is the only base station-to-DAS interconnection truly optimized for any network. It has a proven track record in every service provider’s network to every DAS with connections from one sector to large DAS deployments in stadiums, arenas, convention centers, hotels, raceways, hospitals and government buildings. Its efficiency has been exploited for connections from 250 feet to over 10 miles.
Original Parts Group, Inc. Year after year, Dave continued to introduce new product lines for Oldsmobile in 2001 and for Buick in 2002, offering many “restoration industry firsts” including injection molded interior parts, aluminum and chrome moldings and bright trim. It was then that sales tripled for Original Parts Group. Towards the end of 2002, OPGI found itself relocating to its seventh location, this time tripling in size to 54,000 square feet to house 50-plus employees and a growing inventory. Five short years later with 100 plus employees and over 50,000 in-stock parts and accessories, OPGI moves to its eighth and largest location. The new facility is over 100,000 square feet and capable of 250,000 square feet with new products, a proven track record is not given – it is earned. Installers, technicians, jobbers and distributors need more than just a promise – they need proven results.

Mitsubishi Electric Introduces Robust Driver Monitoring System Mitsubishi Electric, a leading manufacturer of in-vehicle entertainment, navigation systems and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) technologies, announced that it has developed the first in-vehicle monitoring system with a single wide-angle camera to detect both the driver and front passenger simultaneously. Conventional in-vehicle monitoring systems generally use a single camera to analyze the driver’s face for drowsiness or distraction. More recent imaging systems monitor the driver as well as the front passenger, but require several cameras. Mitsubishi Electric has refined this concept by developing a technology that
uses just one wide-angle camera to identify both the face and hand gestures of driver and front passenger. This allows OEMs to offer a range of safety and personalization features at a lower cost. “Monitoring both front-seat occupants not only lets us check driver-centric safety behavior, but also allows us to support additional gesture inputs for in-cab systems such as climate control or audio,” says Mark Vogel, Senior Product Development Manager at Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America. “Providing a mix of safety and convenience features within the same monitoring system is critical as the line between those disciplines continue to blur.”

ADN: What separates ClearPlus from the pack?
RC: It’s the company’s ability to give best in the industry products at price points at which it participates, which are usually the ‘sweet spots’ in each segment of the category or highest volume price points. ClearPlus coverage updates are timely, and support to customers in product training and marketing intel to help boost sales exceeds what national brands offer. This in turn helps customers stay ahead of the curve and retain healthy margins. We routinely coach our customers towards additional revenue streams based on our coverage – examples include imports, familiarity with new connection systems and vehicles that use them, HD vehicle segments such as motor coach/RVs and such. I am glad you asked this question, as we take pride in our customers routinely telling us that
we enable them to separate themselves from the pack.
ADN: What are the hallmarks of ClearPlus’ values and business model?
RC: For the last 20 years, ClearPlus has consistently maintained its ethos of trust and reliability and has stayed focused on its core skills. SATA Compressed Air Filtration and Its Importance in the Paint Booth SATA air filtration started in 1931 and continues today meeting the highest standards in air quality and performance, offering two different filtration series in the U.S. market. The quality of filtration is the same between the two series; the only difference is the amount of CFM that flows through the unit. The SATA 200 series filters allow for 72 CFM at 90psi, while the SATA 400 series filters allow for 129.9 CFM at 90psi. Both are modular filter systems allowing the user to adapt to varying shop conditions and requirements, and are easy to service and maintain. The first stage of the SATA filter removes water and oil by spinning the air through a cyclone tube and starts removing particulate by filtering the air through
a sintered bronze filter. The first filter stage captures contamination down to 5 microns in size. SATA’s first filter unit has next to no maintenance cost. Every six months, the plastic cyclone tube can simply be washed with soap and water to remove any oil or debris. The sintered bronze cartridge should be rinsed with solvent and blown off, from the inside out. For stubborn debris, you can use a soft nylon brush to scrub the cartridge. The second filter stage houses a fine media filter cartridge that filters the air down to 0.01 microns. Once the air passes through the second filter stage, it is considered 99.9 percent clean air. The fine media filter is 10 times finer than most

other filters. The second stage cartridge should be replaced every six months to ensure air quality. After leaving the second filter stage, the air has been removed of water and oil particulate, and dust and debris contamination has been filtered down to 0.01 microns. To safely breathe air from the compressed air line, one more critical step of filtration is needed to meet the requirements of Grade D air quality level – hydrocarbons, oil vapor, odor and taste need to be removed from the air. These are removed in the third filter stage, which houses the activated carbon filter unit. As the air passes through the activated carbon filter, any remaining contaminants are essentially absorbed, cleaning the air to achieve Grade D air quality
level. The air that passes through all three stages of filtration is now considered 100 percent clean, breathable air. The third filter stage needs to be maintained, and the cartridge replaced every three months. Two-stage filters are ideal for a shop trying to deliver clean, dry air to a shop that is utilizing a solvent borne paint system, while three-stage filters are ideal for a shop needing clean, dry air for the paint shop utilizing a waterborne paint system, as well as needing Grade D air for breathing. SATA makes a conscious decision not to use desiccant to dry the air, due to the potential health effects of silica dust.

A Tool You’ll Love for the Jobs You Don’t Dustless Blasting® is the world’s fastest, most cost-effective and environmentally friendly surface preparation tool. It does everything a sandblaster can do, but better. With Dustless Blasting, you can strip paint and coatings faster, use less media and never worry about containing a plume of dust. So how does it work? The Dustless Blaster mixes water and abrasive inside the blast tank. During blasting, the water encapsulates the abrasive and the coating being removed. Instead of becoming airborne, the trapped abrasive falls to the ground, keeping surrounding areas clean Bullet Liner (Cont’d. from p. 39)
Bullet Liner believes that there are a number of advantages to steering clear of traditional franchise networks. and free from mess. This allows you to blast in open environments, even when others are working nearby. Plus, you will save money on containment and cleanup costs. By introducing water, it also drastically increases the mass and energy the machine is putting out. Think of it this way – would you rather throw a handful of wet sand or dry sand at a target? The dry sand wouldn’t have much impact on the target, but it would blow in the wind and make a big mess. The same amount of wet sand would hit the target with more force, and wouldn’t blow in the

Heartland Customs Partners with Covercraft to Display Show-Stopping Vehicle at Show GM Car of the Year winner Heartland Customs partners with Covercraft unveiled the 1969 YENKO SPECCamaro #001 at SEMA. These two powerhouse companies team up again to display a show stopping vehicle in the Covercraft booth. The car was unveiled on Wednesday, November 6 at 11 a.m. in booth #23243. The SPEC Camaro Program is a concept developed by custom builder Jeff Page. SPEC Camaro is a program where a customer can choose their favorite year model of Camaro from 1967-1969 and the options to go with it. Heartland Customs will locate an original donor car and build the Camaro to 2019 specs while keeping it looking as original as possible. This is all done at a set cost so
the customer knows exactly what the build will cost and can enjoy the process. These cars are built in multiple option levels just like GM had it structured originally: base model, Super Sport, Z/28 and even the mighty YENKO. All YENKO models are officially licensed by GMCI and come with a YENKO letter of authenticity. “We are very excited to again display a car in the Covercraft booth at SEMA 2019. This partnership has greatly benefited both companies over the past few years and given both companies a venue to show off their amazing products jointly,” says Jeff Page, Chief Executive Officer of Heartland Customs. YENKO SPEC-Camaro #001’s design starts with the custom chassis that
Loading Ramp Assortment from Erickson When Erickson started down this venture, its goal was simple: to expand or modify its ramp offering to provide the best quality products at an affordable price. Through its efforts Erickson has added some new models to complement its current selection. Erickson’s “do it yourself” ramp kits provide the customer with an end plate that can be mounted to a piece of lumber to create your own ramp. This is ideal for creating custom lengths. Erickson has an existing 8-inch model, but as ATVs and other vehicles continue to get larger, the
customer needs more strength. This gave way to its all new 12-inch wide model, which gives the customer the added strength they require. Erickson then switched its focus over to standard loading ramps. Folding ramps are some of the most popular and convenient ramps available. However, they require the customer to pay for this feature. Erickson introduced a model that has the ability to fold, but is easy on the customer’s pocketbook. Erickson also knows many customers use their ramps for many different

“Covercraft has featured the amazing Corvettes that Heartland Customs produces, and we are thrilled to host their YENKO SPEC-Camaro #001 this year. Heartland won the GM Design Award at last year’s SEMA Show and I won’t be surprised if this incredible Camaro brings home some hardware this year,” comments Mark Korros, President and Chief Executive Officer of Covercraft. vehicles, so it wanted to create a ramp that had the ability to conform to multiple vehicles. This led Erickson to add little clips on the edges of its next ramp. These clips allow the ramp to be pieced together like a puzzle creating a custom width that can handle any vehicle. For example, use them apart for an ATV, but clip them together for your zero-turn lawn mower with off center wheels. All new ramps are made from aluminum. This ensures they are light weight, but strong, so you’re not breaking your back when moving them. They

What’s with All the Noise about Noise Reduction Tires? According to the Bloomberg 2018 Electric Vehicle Outlook (EVO), sales of electric vehicles (EVs) are increasing from a record 1.1 million worldwide in 2017 to 11 million in 2025 and then surging to 30 million in 2030 as they become cheaper to make than internal combustion engine (ICE) cars. One important aspect of the EV ownership experience is the serene in-car cabin experience. Without the loud exhaust of an internal combustion engine (ICE), road noise generated by the tires more pronounced. becomes Consequently, all major tire manufacturers have developed a new genre of tires
dubbed “Noise Reduction Tires.” These tires were developed to enhance the quiet in-car experience by adding a layer of sound “deadening” material attached to the tire’s inner liner, resulting in a cabin noise reduction of between 3db to 9db. With the proliferation of EVs such as Tesla, misinformation about the repairability of these noise reduction tires has infiltrated the marketplace through social media. One such Tesla owner’s community video, which has over 7 million views, perpetuates the myth that these tires are un-repairable. TECH, the global tire and wheel authority, which pioneered proper and

and entertainment options make it easier, day by day. Everyone is constantly on their phone sending messages, chatting and seeing what everyone is doing instead of focusing on the task at hand. Piloting a two-ton block of steel down the road at 75 miles per hour has become trivial in most people’s eyes. However, the truth couldn’t be further from that. There is more congestion, more inexperienced drivers and higher average travel speeds all contributing to the more difficult driving experience. So does that mean that we, ourselves are the reason that we have more accidents? Does that mean that we should Garmat (Cont’d. from p. 1)
increases, production solutions such as paint booths and advanced drying equipment like the Gascat Dryers™ gas catalytic drying solution are gaining a lot of consideration in production-minded shops. This demand is spilling over into the commercial truck and the industrial market as truck repair shops seek production solutions to meet their market demands. This increased market opportunity recently drew the attention of private equity firm MPE partners. The private equity firm has two primary target investment areas: high-value manufacturing and commercial & industrial services. MPE has invested in Garmat® USA to help an already innovative company reach its next phase of growth and fuel Alltrade (Cont’d. from p. 1)

also be charged with the responsibility to reduce the number of accidents on the roadways? According to the National Safety Council, 2018 did result in a slight reduction of fatalities by 1 percent. This is a positive move, as 2017 was one of the worst years on record in the last decade. But what else can we do? Technology seems to be the root of the problem; perhaps it can also be our savior as well. Just as much as there are products to distract us, there are also products to help us when we are distracted. We recently interviewed Diwa Nien, a Sales Representative for CUB, a radar safety product manufacturer to get their opinion on what can be done. Nien said, “it’s our responsibility to be safe drivers, but acci-
more innovation. In reaction to the recent investment, Johan Huwaert was recently quoted as saying, “MPE’s operating executive resources and their long track record of partnering with entrepreneur-led businesses make them a great partner for Garmat USA. It is an exciting time in the collision repair industry, and we thought it was the right time to bring in a partner with the resources and experience to help us enhance our position as the innovation leader in our industry.” Since its inception, Garmat USA has been synonymous with innovation in the spray booth market. Garmat USA’s product line is known for superior airflow, optimal lighting and unparalleled distributor support. Garmat has continually introduced technologies that have revolutionized the refinishing
tomers. For the past 76 years, Milton has been the product of choice when it comes to pneumatic accessories. It has invented numerous industry standard products, including the classic M-Style “I/M” KWIK® Change Coupler and Plug, the 506 Window Inflator Gauge, Safety Blow Guns and the iconic Driveway Signal chimes and bell. With these inventions, its portfolio has grown to over 1,600 different SKUs. These products cover a broad range of applications in various industries, such as automotive, fleet maintenance, construction and man-

CUB showcases several Blind Spot Detection (BSD) systems that are available for nearly any type of vehicle. CUB has a new 79GHz commercial BSD system – it’s an amazing way to add a blind spot system to protect from pinch point accidents. The kit includes radar sensors that are strategically mounted on the sides of the vehicle. The system is revolutionary in preventing accidents in the pinch points of large trucks when making turns, especially in tight, urban environments. CUB is also showcasing its

Garmat USA manufactures high-quality equipment with production enhancing attributes, energy efficiencies and environmentally-friendly features. The addition of gas catalytic drying solutions through Gascat Dryers has opened up an opportunity to reduce dry times within existing paint booths drastically. The catalytic drying is a cost-effective way to increase production without increasing the footprint within a shop. Gas catalytic drying solutions ability to work with a multitude of substrates are proving to be very useful in the commercial truck industry. Garmat is not just an equipment

CUB even offers BSD systems for passenger cars, trucks, RVs, both motorhomes and trailers, and its trailer system is the first of its kind. As ADAS systems become more prevalent and advanced, accurate blueprinting during collision repair is crucial to the integrity of the vehicle and calibration of sensors back to OE standards. The absence of proper and precise measuring tools leads to highly subjective damage assessments which are often made based on opinions and guess work. The Matrix Wand uses a simple, straightforward process to assist collision pro-
fessionals, automotive manufacturers and insurance providers in repairing vehicles to ensure the safety and functionality is restored as the OE intended following a collision. The 3D structural diagnostics provided by the wand lead to minimal vehicle teardown and ensure accurate estimates to reduce supplements while increasing efficiency throughout the repair process. The Fenderbolt software,
powering the Matrix Wand, integrates the Mitchell Reference Database to compare points to factory specifications. Calculations from the wand and its software are accurate within +/- 1mm, assuring precision repairs and calibration of ADAS systems.
