want extra hours?

If you need extra hours, a good way is to write articles! You don’t have travel anywhere; you can write it on the go or from the comfort of your own home. A regular article is worth 1 hour, and a HOTO article is worth 2.

Write a 300-400 word essay about anything Key Club related. If you’re out of ideas, visit the T-O website at tokeyclub.com to look at the prompts for this month. You can also find the rubric on there.

Articles go towards our Key Club’s points, so they are greatly appreciated! Yours even has the chance of being featured on this newsletter or the Tex-O-Key newsletter.

Happy writing!

ARTICLES February 2023 Vol 5 Issue 11 16

A Club for All

We as a club like to be open to all types of different cultures, backgrounds, and ethnicities as inclusivity is one of Key Club’s core values. Having a diverse group of people lets us as a club learn about where each member came from and all the things that may be different from our own culture. We even had a little Chinese New Year-themed meeting where we were sharing the Asian culture and the traditions that come with Lunar New Year's. We had a key with red envelopes hanging off and had our members gather in a line and pick off an envelope one by one with the mystery of what they would get with each envelope.

Our club is very inclusive as we offer a variety of volunteering opportunities that can fit into our members’ busy schedules. No matter if they can’t make it to an opportunity or event, there is always another option to be able to get hours and help their community, allowing them to keep doing what they enjoy doing while serving the area. Even in our meetings, we like to do fun activities such as a Kahoot or games that include every single one of our members, giving them the opportunity to talk to new people in the group that they don’t get to normally. Little things like this keep our club closer to one another.

As for February, or Black History Month, we had fun facts about prominent African American leaders sharing the history of everyone to learn. It’s important that we know about the forgotten history of the people who the foundations of America are built upon. We plan to continue this tradition into March for Women’s History Month.

We value our members, and so it is important that we uphold one of Key Club’s most important values, which is inclusivity. It is crucial for everyone to learn about each other in order for a club to be united as one. That is what we at Summit Key Club strive to achieve every single day.
