TOBY BOOTH’S WELCOME MESSAGE
5This week we’re prepared for a tough battle as we welcome the Scarlets to the Swansea.com Stadium for the Boxing Day West Wales Derby.
The Scarlets are on a high after their recent win double in the EPCR Challenge Cup. We’re looking to bring them back down to earth and come away with a huge win that will send you all in to work with the bragging rights after Christmas.
BY THE NUMBERS
One of the biggest rivalries in rugby, Ospreys and Scarlets have played each other countless times over the years in the league, with Ospreys just about being ahead on the wins scoreboard.

COMMUNITY
Everyone Deserves a Christmas 21st & 22nd Of December Ospreys in the Community will be running their annual hamper campaign with the Swansea Football CLub & Local MPs again this year. This is the 6th year OitC have supported and have helped to raise enough money to feed nearly 2000 people who are unable to enjoy a Christmas Dinner this year.
In a year where the Cost of Living crisis is hitting people harder than ever before, no one should go without a warm dinner this Christmas.
Ride 2 Rugby
To help sustain the incredible work they carry out across the region, Ospreys in the Community are looking for 15 riders to take on the challenge as they cycle from Calais to Paris for France vs Wales next year.
Ospreys in the Community, in collaboration with Action for Children and Philtronics will be holding their "Nestless Night" sleep out at the Swansea.com Stadium again in February and are looking for people to take part and help them reach their fundraising goal.

TALES OF CHRISTMASES PAST
BY DAVID BRAYLEYEbeneezer Scrooge was famously visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve (well, really it was four if you include Jacob Marley but he doesn’t fit the rugby narrative of this piece, so I’m going to ignore him).
They were, of course, the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas yet to Come. I was reminded of Dickens’ famous Yuletide story, A Christmas Carol, when I was doing research on this piece, which is going to focus on the upcoming, must-see Boxing Day fixture of Ospreys v Scarlets, because, as in Dickens’ famous ghostly tale, just about everything that can happen has happened in this fixture in seasons gone by.
But first, a question. Why is this fixture above all others, so important?
