Reflecting on our growth and change as a campus.
As you turn the page to this new and exciting chapter in your life, one thing remains constant… change. In fact, “Time and Change” is a line in the university’s alma mater, “Carmen Ohio.”
I find myself reflecting on our past and how far Ohio State Marion has grown, from its humble beginnings in 1957 at the former Harding High School to a beautiful campus, including our recently constructed Science and Engineering Building and newly renovated Alber Student Center. But the true core of Ohio State Marion is its excellent and dedicated team of faculty and staff who are here to teach, guide, and support you on your higher education journey.
Since Ohio State’s founding in 1870, our land grant mission has been to bring a superior college degree within the reach of all Ohio citizens, in an accessible and affordable way. That goal has never been more relevant than it is today.
Our vision is to be the destination of choice for those seeking a university education at a campus recognized for excellence in teaching, research, community outreach, and global citizenship.
We pride ourselves on our small campus environment in which you can regularly access faculty and staff and can experience our “culture of caring.” You will meet award-winning instructors who are university leaders in developing innovative teaching methods and who provide productive, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences. They are scholars who seek to involve you in cutting edge research. You will meet staff who are eager to help, guide, and support you so you can reach your goals.
I am proud to be a Buckeye on the Marion campus. I encourage you to learn more about our Buckeye community in the pages within this viewbook and on our website at osumarion.osu.edu. You’ll discover that Ohio State Marion is a great place to begin and complete your journey as a Buckeye.

Ohio State Marion non-traditional student and staff member Becky Conley was one of sixteen students chosen university-wide to sign the national anthem and Carmen Ohio on November 20, 2021 during the Ohio State vs. Michigan State football game at Ohio Stadium, in Columbus.
