Happenings at Springside — November 2017 —
Hello Everyone! Our Springside residents recently held their own version of a sip and paint event, led by our very own Terri Carbone. She assisted the residents step-by-step as they painted lilacs in a glass jar. We also had a visit from Musician Mike Romano, who performed many of our favorite tunes from the 1950s and on up. During October, we held our first community pancake breakfast, which was very successful. Each month our residents enjoy fun, educational and cultural events similar to the ones mentioned here. While we will all agree October’s weather was beautiful, the colder weather will soon be coming our way. I hope you’ll plan a visit to Springside for our Soup Lovers Lunch to warm you up. We offer many hot soups that are sure to make you feel warm and toasty. Just like home except we do all the cooking for you! Our Springside Knitting Club will have many handmade items for sale during Soup Lovers, including hats, scarfs, dishcloths, baby clothing, and much more.
Public Events: Osteoporosis Exercise classes are conducted every Tuesday and Thursday at 3:30 PM. If you’d like more information contact Springside at 343-5658. Diabetes Programs. In addition to our monthly diabetes support group, Oswego Health educators are offering a free diabetes prevention program, Prevent T2 Diabetes, to assist community members who are pre-diabetic. Community members who have prediabetes are encouraged to enroll and learn how to make important life style changes to improve their health status. This evidence-based, year-long program starts November 8 at Springside. Classes will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. For the first six months, classes will be held weekly. After the initial six months, classes will be once or twice a month. To register or for more information, please call Oswego Health’s Community Health Department at 315-349-5513.
The diabetes support group meets at Springside, first Thursday of each month. Feel free to join us on November 2nd and get information on healthy eating and monitoring this health condition so you can stay well. There is no charge and no reservations are necessary. The group is led by Sue Callaway, RN, certified diabetes nurse educator. Our residents at Springside have the benefits of comfort and convenience right here at Springside as part of their everyday carefree lifestyle.
