As part of its ongoing efforts, Carol's Daughter's Love Delivered is continuing to empower Black maternal health by expanding access to doula care with a new round of doula grants. In partnership with CVS, Carol's Daughter will support the Mama Glow Foundation in their
mission to improve the experience of maternal health for birthing people everywhere with an additional financial contribution of $32,000 in 2024 to fund doula support for Black families in need. Families living in major cities including NYC, Miami, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New Orleans and Washington DC who are pregnant or recently postpartum can apply to receive doula services through the grant program.
According to the CDC, The United States has the worst maternal mortality rate in high-income countries globally and the numbers have only grown. When compared to white women, Black women are more than 2 times likely to experience severe pregnancy-related complications and nearly 3 times as likely to die.

Furthermore, Carol's Daughter has forged a meaningful collaboration with NewYorkPresbyterian, one of the nation's most comprehensive, integrated academic healthcare systems, to address the needs of Black maternal and pediatric patients. Following a successful pilot program offering hair care kits for patients with curly, coily, and tightly textured hair at NewYorkPresbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in late 2021, the initiative expanded to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in 2022. The NewYork-Presbyterian Dalio Center for Health Justice has built a relationship with Carol's Daughter, helping NewYork-Presbyterian offer specialized hair kits to maternal and pediatric patients. These kits include Carol's Daughter shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, and other essential accessories. To date, Carol's Daughter has donated over 30,000 products to NewYork-Presbyterian patients and community members.

he organizers of in-cosmetics Asia – the leading event in Asia Pacific for personal care ingredients - have announced the 2024 educational program which places a greater emphasis on science. Based around the exhibition’s four key pillars - science, innovation, trends, and community - the program will provide R&D professionals with the knowledge, expertise, and tools needed to stay ahead in the region’s everevolving market.
Hands-on expertise in the Formulation Lab
This year’s Formulation Lab will host sessions featuring industry leaders from the likes of Clariant, Nikko Chemicals, and Innospec. The lab offers a hands-on opportunity for formulators and R&D staff to enhance their skills in a fully equipped environment.
Running over the three days of the event, various experts will lead sessions covering formulation techniques focusing on foundations, UV, anti-acne and pore care as well as suncare products, propanediol and sustainable cleansing.

Day two of the Conference will see the experts return to the stage to deliver further sessions. According to data from Euromonitor International[3], 9% of APAC consumers reported that they would pay an additional 10% to 50% for beauty products with scientific formulations. Spotlight On Skin Screen Seminars
Skincare is the largest and most dynamic segment in Asia Pacific, with Japan leading the revenue rankings at $21.8 billion, closely followed by China at $20.7 billion[4].
However, data from in-cosmetics’ partner, Covalo, suggests that the market dynamics are shifting, with skincare searches demonstrating an increased focus on better-ageing, as opposed to anti-ageing. This exclusive event brought together Jinny's executive, purchasing, and sales teams and key vendor partners for a weekend rich with opportunity, relationshipbuilding, and unforgettable experiences.
Nestled amidst the picturesque hills and vineyards of Napa Valley, the Tuscan-inspired Meritage Resort
& Spa provided a beautiful setting for the meeting. The resort's stunning views and top-tier amenities ranged from gourmet dining and a relaxing spa to the vibrant Crush Lounge for bowling—creating a perfect environment for business and leisure.
The event kicked off with a team dinner at the Vintner’s Room and Roof-top. Throughout the weekend, participants engaged in strategic discussions, showcased their latest products and outlined major initiatives for the remainder of 2024. The program featured a series of presentations with ample time for networking.

One of the weekend's highlights was the Wine Train Ride, where attendees were treated to a scenic journey through Napa Valley’s iconic vineyards. This unique experience offered a delightful blend of gourmet cuisine, fine wine, and breathtaking views.
Wella hosted a Welcome Reception on Saturday evening on the Vineyard Deck, where participants enjoyed a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for solidifying the connections made throughout the weekend.
Jinny Beauty once again demonstrated its leadership in the industry, fostering a collaborative environment that drives growth and innovation. We got an opportunity to connect with Jinny Corp. Director of Purchasing Art Emm, where he shares insights on the company’s future initiatives and continued commitment to excellence.
INTERVIEW WITH ART EMM
OTC: How did the Napa Valley setting and the Meritage Resort & Spa enhance this year’s Jinny Sales Meeting experience? Were there any specific elements of the venue that stood out in creating a productive and enjoyable environment?
OTC: With 2024 well underway, what were some of the key strategies or initiatives discussed during the meeting that align with Jinny Beauty’s vision? How do these initiatives support the company's long-term goals?
Art: As we all know the economy has affected our industry in 2024, as we expected it would. The objective of these meetings is to work closely with our vendor partners to share ideas and concepts to help us all get through these tough times. The vendors presented their plans and ideas for the balance of 2024 and these meetings are structured to allow our team to also provide their ideas, so that together we can formulate a plan that helps both companies succeed. There was a lot of great discussions and sharing of information in the meetings that will be used to strengthen our mutual plans for the balance of the year.
OTC: Were there any new products or trends presented by vendors this year that particularly excited you?
Art: Yes, of course this is a great venue for our vendors to launch new products and many certainly did, while others had concepts and ideas they shared to get feedback and ideas from the best sales team in the industry. We are excited about what came out of these meetings and are hopeful for growth in the future.
OTC: Diversity, sustainability, and social responsibility continue to be important topics in the beauty industry. Did any vendor presentations at this year's meeting highlight these areas, and how does Jinny Beauty plan to support these initiatives moving forward?
Art Emm: Every year we choose the destination for this event very carefully. We want to provide a location that is both enjoyable and productive for our vendor partners and the Jinny team. We certainly achieved that with this location. The resort was beautiful, the food was excellent, and it provided a scenic environment that stimulated everyone’s mood and creativity. The great thing about the resort we chose is that it had everything we needed right on site. Great restaurants and entertainment, their own vineyard on the property that had walking trails through it, and beautiful scenic views. The welcome dinner hosted by The Wella Company was held on the vineyard deck high up in the middle of the vineyard with a beautiful view of the Valley and an amazing sunset. It was a bit of a hike to get up there but well worth it.
OTC: This year’s event featured unique activities like the Wine Train Ride. How do you feel these experiences contributed to the overall atmosphere of networking and relationship-building with your vendor partners?
Art: The wine train was a unique experience enjoyed by all. We had the entire train to ourselves and we could walk between all the cars to network and socialize during the two and a half hours ride up the valley and back. Dinner was excellent, the views and the vastness of the wineries was spectacular. Relationship building with our vendors is an important part of this event. Every year we always make sure we have time and events that specifically allow for networking and relationship building.
Art: Yes, I believe most if not all of our vendors feel very strongly about this as does Jinny Beauty Supply.
OTC: Reflecting on this year’s event, what feedback have you received from the sales team and vendors? Are there any aspects of the meeting that you believe were particularly successful, and how do you plan to build on this success for future events?
Art: The feedback I have received so far has been extremely positive. The format, the location, the participation of our sales team, the preparedness of the vendors, and the ideas and plans that were shared and improved upon were some of the things I did hear positive feedback about. We were going to take a break from doing this event for a while, but after the feedback we have received, we will reconsider that decision. We are the leader in this industry, and no other distributor does anything like this to bring the industry closer together, so stay tuned.
