DIRECTOR'S CORNER A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE marks the 16t h consecutive year that professional guest actors and/or directors have worked with Otterbein students in the annual Hguest artist p roduction." Post guests such as Hans Conreid, Ed Begley, Kim Hunter, Pot Hingle, Brock Peters, George Gritzard, Robert Forster, Robert Morse and Tony Roberts hove contributed immeasurably to the growth and developmen t of our students and the total theotre program. For examp le, over 30 students in the post five guest artist productions ore either in graduate school or working in professional theatre (recent examples include Dovid Grof, Stephanie Lewis, Marc Smythe, Ed Vaughan, Dennis Romer, Dee Hoty. Richard Mi lier, Beth Moch Ian, Gian Morelli, Jerry Confer, David Mack, Terry Espenscheid and Marty Bookwalter, to name a few). Our work this year with guest artist RIC MANCINI continues to reinforce ou r be lief in the validity of such o program as an educational and profess ional experience for oll concerned. Th is particular production has been a joy during reheorsols, probably for two reasons: first, any script by Arthur Mi l ler provide s endless opportunities and challenges far actors in that his concern for the tragi c qualities inherent in the doi ly activities of common man are ones with which actors con easily identify; and secondly, because Ric hos shored generous ly with his time, talent and expertise during the three full weeks of his visit. His previous work with this very special ploy mode it possible for him to contribute in numerous ways to all aspects of rehearsal. In fact, I con never remember o rehearsal period in which the entire ploy was Hon its feet'' at the end of the first three rehearsa l• (all i n one day). Thanks Riel
