GUEST ARTIST Professional actor ROBERT MORSE continues a tradition of guest professionals who have appeared on the Otterbein College Theatre stage for more than a decade. The Tony-award winning actor, most familiar for his stage and movie portrayal of the unprincipled but charming young executive in "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying", has appeared in a number of successful Broadway productions as well as in films. In addition, he has appeared on a number of television shows, including "The Velvet Glove" with Helen Hayes and "Thieves' Carnival". In 1968, he starred in his own series, a weekly musical show entitled "That's Life" . Robert Morse, born and educated in Newton, Mass., was determined to become an actor. Fired by youthful enthusiasm, he arrived in New York to display his talents on the stage, having seen Ray Bolger in "Where's Chorley?" 34 times. His career began with a series of juvenile leads, the first being the role of Barnaby Tucker in "The Matchmaker" with Ruth Gordon, and later in the film version with Shirley Booth . He was featured in "Say Darling", and with Jackie Gleason, Wolter Pidgeon and Eileen Herlie in the Musical "Take Me Along" . Following the smashing success of "How To Succeed", Mr. Morse co-starred with Walter Matthau in "Guide To A Married Mon", and with Robert Morley and John Gielgud in "The Loved One". Other films included "The Cardinal", "Oh Dad, Poor Dad", and "Where Were You When The Lights Went Out?" Married to the former Carole D'Andreo, an actress who was in "West Side Story", Robert Morse lives in New York with their three children, Andrea, Robin and Hilary . Among his many honors, one that impressed his family most was that of being named the "Stage Father of the Year" . The most recent Broadway role of Robert Morse was that of Daphne, the "busty bassfiddle player in an all-girl band" in the musical, "Sugar", based on "Some Like It Hot" . Mr. Morse's performance in the production cemented his reputation as the "first great clown of the younger generation." Mr. Morse, however, expressed apprehension that this role might win him a new honor, that of "Stage Mother of the Year" . Fortunately, it didn't happen, and New York theatre critic Clive Barnes called Morse's performance "absolutely brilliant. ''
