This 'Look Inside' contains a selection of pages to help you evaluate My Set 1 Speed Sounds Book

Your child has been learning Speed Sounds in school as part o their Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons. Your child’s teacher has sent home this book so your child can practise reading and writing sounds at home.

The date on each page will show you which sounds your child has learnt. Ask your child to say the sound on each right-hand page. I they can’t, turn the page to remind them o the picture prompt they have learnt or the sound and read the prompt to them.

Do not use letter names, as this may conuse your child. Your child can also practise writing the sounds in the handwriting spaces on each let-hand page. There is a handwriting phrase or you to read to them to help them remember how to write the letters. At the end o the book there is a list o all the sounds. Praise your child or their progress and tick the box next to the sounds they know.
