OUR

Story

n the summer of 2003, Ashley began working at a restaurant that David had been working at for quite some time. David was tasked with training Ashley and the friendship soon ensued. By mid fall of that year, we were dating. We married in May of 2007, in our early twenties, in a quaint ceremony surround by family and close friends. We have been together for 10 years and feel that each day is an incredible blessing. We enjoy our monthly date night to catch up on our time as a couple, attending sporting events, and doing things together as a family. We have two children, both boys, Nicholas and Hayden. We have always wanted to have a large family and knowing that we would someday adopt has brought us to you and your baby. Our boys are very excited to welcome their baby sister home when she arrives!

Locking our love lock in Paris Date night!

From the very beginning we want our baby to know that her mother loves her unselfishly and for that, we love her mother too. Our ultimate goal is to raise a well-adjusted child with a strong sense of identity and great self-esteem. We believe the best way to do that is through openness. We would like her to feel free to ask any questions she needs to about her adoption and she will be given honest answers. She will know that she will always have an open line of communication with her birth family, should her mother choose to, and we will encourage her to have that relationship.

ne day back when I was still waiting tables to pay my way through college I was sitting in a pre-meeting when the manager said “David, you’ll be training Ashley”. Those five words led me to a beautiful, caring, young woman that would quickly become one of my closest friends. Once meeting, our relationship was inevitable. I couldn’t let someone so sweet, caring, and fun to be around get away!

I love the way she laughs at all my silly little jokes, how she freaks out with joy whenever she sees cute pictures on the internet like a miniature potbelly pig eating ice cream, and the way she interacts with our children with so much love and care. Ashley is strong where I am weak and that makes us an excellent team, I can count on her to keep track of everyone’s busy schedules, plan our activities, and always know what to do when someone is sick or hurt. One thing you may not know about Ashley is that even though she may look sweet and innocent she’s a little firecracker and I love it! She’s nice and respectful to everyone, but won’t shy away from standing up for herself or her family if she has to.

MORE ABOUT Ashley CONTINUED

Sometimes when she gets all riled up or hangs out with her family, her once strong, but now vanished accent, manages to come back out. Growing up with her Dad and two brothers she learned to love football at an early age. When I say she loves football I mean she LOVES football. Watching her watch football can be entertainment in and of itself. In our last house she wasn’t allowed to watch it from the main couch because it ran too much of a risk of her, all of 5 foot tall, jumping up and hitting the projector with her flailing arms.

t is hard for me to choose just one thing that makes me fall head over heels for David. Perhaps it is his quirky sense of humor, his undying determination or his need for accuracy. He makes me laugh, is there for me when I need him most and is a terrific father to our two boys. He is loyal, passionate, and a hard working provider for our family.

I knew he was the man for me when the pranks started during our time working at the restaurant together. The most memorable prank was him giving the babies in my section crackers so I would have the biggest mess to clean up when they left. Or maybe it was him saying he would grab tortillas for me for a table full of fajitas, only to find out he had only put one tortilla in the basket leaving me with some silly looks. He sure knew how to make work fun and interesting. I love that about him. Never a dull moment. David is a huge kid at heart and all the children we know are drawn to him. He is always willing to help them learn something new and is not afraid to get his hands dirty when they want to play outside. His wonderful sense of patience is great for teaching children. When our children ask him a question, he always looks for the answer before saying he doesn’t know. He has volunteered at our youngest son’s school to teach the children about rockets and even did a rocket launch from their playground. That was a huge hit and they continue to ask him to come back. David is constantly doing little science experiments at our home with our boys as well.

THE PEOPLE

Love WE

How we love to spend Christmas

D

avid's mother and her husband live very close and our boys love spending time there. MiMi is loving, warm, and everything else you would imagine a grandmother to be. She is always asking when her next babysitting adventure will be. Backyard family baseball games with David’s brothers and extended family are one of the many great things we love about MiMi’s house! There is lots of fun family time to be had at one of their many birthday and holiday celebrations. Ashley's mother lives within an hour drive and sees the kids often as well. She loves to take them to adventure parks, the zoo and for weekend sleepovers at MeeMaw's. Ashley’s oldest brother lives a few hours away, but they have an incredible bond and talk every day. They both love football so once a season they take a trip to a new stadium together. So much fun! Ashley's youngest brother is in the military and lives across the US with his wife and two children, but they talk often, visit when they can and are a huge part of each other's lives. Before her father passed away, they were incredibly close and she learned a great deal about the love and support of a family from him.

We are blessed with six nephews and three nieces that call us Uncle and Auntie. We were even named as guardians to our niece. We consider our circle of friends a special part of our family too! They are supportive, caring, trustworthy people that we are lucky to have in our lives. We love to vacation with them, take the kids on weekend camping trips together and meet up for play dates. Our friends and family are SO EXCITED to welcome OUR NEW ADDITION!

Our Not So 9-5 Ashley is the owner of a sugar art and cake design business and also has a notary signing agent license. Her workload varies according to client needs and her availability. She loves that she is able to make her schedule around our children’s extracurricular activities, doctor appointments and school functions. When we bring our new baby home, Ashley will be a stay at home mom to ensure our child receives the best care possible. David is a Sr. database engineer for a large investment company. On most days he works five days a week from 7am-3pm . He really enjoys his job. He does have the leisure of occasionally working from home as well.

A FEW OF ASHLEY'S CREATIONS!

OUR FURRY ROOMATES We rescued our cats, Zoe and Pollux, from a non-profit shelter. Their silly personalities, playfulness and gentleness with children are what made us choose them. Zoe will let you carry her around cradled like a baby, upside down or however you choose. She loves belly rubs, to be held, and is a prime example of a lap cat. Pollux is laid back, lazy and likes his toys. He loves to be pet, but also likes his own space. His funny quirks include lying on his tummy with his head upside down to drink water from his dispenser.

I woud really like some tuna now! Curious Zoe

HOME

Sweet HOME

W

e live in a roomy two-story, 4 bedroom home in a quiet, friendly neighborhood just outside of Austin, Texas. We have the small home town feel without being too far from the essentials. Ashley loves to get creative with decorating so the children’s rooms are fun and really capture their own sense of style. One of the four bedrooms has already been turned in to a nursery and is awaiting the arrival of our new little one.

Our community park has two playgrounds, a basketball court, and a pavilion for parties and gatherings. Throughout the year our community holds various events at our neighborhood park which are terrific for meeting the newcomers and letting all of the children play together. There is also a great elementary school and a gymnastics center accessible by sidewalk and within walking distance of our home. Being so close to a large, fun city there is never a shortage of things to do or places to go with the children. Austin even has its own aquarium now that we can’t wait to take them to!
