ABOUT US m

C

olleen is a college professor who loves to travel to fun new places. Her teaching schedule is incredibly flexible, giving her plenty of time to be home to watch our child grow, learn, and play. John is an attorney and a passionate sports fan. He’s an Army brat who has lived all over the world. That gave him a strong sense of family, and he looks forward to creating that nurturing environment for our child.

our story We met as teenagers and became fast friends! Then one day, without realizing it, friendship became love. We got married in 2003.

We believe in open communication, and don’t take each other for granted. We keep us first, and understand that acknowledging even the little things is important for a strong, healthy marriage. We love to cook dinner together, travel to new places, or just hang out watching silly movies like Despicable Me. We can’t wait to have a little navigator helping us plan our next adventure!

We love having young families nearby, and are looking forward to taking our child to neighborhood movie nights, fall parties, and summer picnics. Atlanta is filled with children’s museums, parks, and gardens, and we are so excited to take our little one to fun places like Zoo Atlanta and the Center for Puppetry Arts. There is so much to do and see here, and we look forward to experiencing all of it with our child.

aggie may be 14, but she is still a puppy at heart, and she loves long walks and belly rubs. She visits and plays with all of the kids in our neighborhood, and she can’t wait to have a new playmate to run around with in the back yard.

John is my absolute favorite person on Earth. He’s so caring and sweet, and I’m so lucky to have him in my life. He makes me laugh and smile everyday with his silly jokes and funny voices. I have no doubt that he will be a great dad. You should see him with his niece and nephew!

He gets right down on the floor with them to play, and loves to sit with them and read. For John, family is the thing that he holds most dear and he will love our child beyond measure.

Colleen is my best friend, and for that I am blessed. At her core, Colleen is a nurturer and protector, with a heart open to all. Her students always go to her for encouragement and advice, because they know she listens and accepts them as they are. She lights up when talking about being a mom, and I cannot wait to see the two of them exploring why the sky is blue, the best way to raise tadpoles, or where the butterflies go when it rains (her favorite book as a child).

ohn’s mom Suzanne and sister Buffie live in North Carolina, and his sister Leigh and her hubby Terry live in California with our adorable niece Ellie and JOHN READING TO NEPHEW BEN nephew Ben. Suzanne is a retired school librarian, and she can’t wait to be a grandmother again! We try to get together for a family vacation at least once a year, and everyone is excited to have a new little one along for the ride. Colleen’s parents, Chuck and Laurie, live just two hours south of Atlanta. Chuck is an ex-Marine who loves gardening and puttering in his garage.

Laurie is a retired nurse and passionate quilter. They are so excited to become grandparents! You should hear them talk about what fun they will have during weekend visits!
