Even COVID-19 Didn’t slow down

The Rotary Club of Hollywood

he Rotary Club of Hollywood has been working toward the betterment of our community since 1926. The 501c3 organization is part of Rotary Club International, which has been credited with many charitable accomplishments including the eradication of Polio from much of the world. The Rotary Club of Hollywood is no stranger to dealing with crises. In 1926, a financial crisis and a fierce hurricane swept the state of Florida. So when the COVID-19

pandemic came, and brought about the shutting down of the Rotary clubhouse and fundraising events, the club’s “Service Above Self” spirit was never in doubt. Club president, Kevin Taie, and his officers banded together like never before and set up virtual Zoom meetings and events. Their planning led to Virtual Bingo Nights.’ Friends and families joined online to support service efforts in the community.

Rotary’s Work in the Community The Rotary Club of Hollywood hosted virtual bingo nights that raised money for organizations like the Police Athletic League (PAL), Hollywood YMCA, Music Club of Hollywood, South Broward High School Arts Program, Boys & Girls Club of Hollywood, the Community Enhancement Collaboration, etc. Donated a new box truck for the Community Enhancement Collaboration.

• Thanks to the Virtual Bingo Nights and fund-

raising efforts, The Rotary Club of Hollywood raised over $24,500! • $1,900+ for the Hollywood Police Athletic League • $5,600 for the Boys & Girls Club • $2,500 for the YMCA Swimming Program • $5,000 for the Broward Outreach • $3,300 for the South Broward High School Arts Program • $6,000 for the Pack-a-Sack (providing meals for Hollywood elementary schools: Orangebrook, Mary M Bethune, Driftwood) • They also fund $30,000 in scholarships for high school seniors

These are just a few of the fantastic works that the Rotary Club of Hollywood does. If you have a heart of service, please stay engaged and contact us to learn more..
