The Police Department offers the Police Explorers Program for young adults, ages 14 to 19, that express an interest in becoming or being a part of law enforcement as a career. Explorers have the opportunity to experience hands-on law enforcement training, police ride-alongs, practical exercises, local and state competitions, and more.

Teens must be in high school (Grades 9 - 12), have at least a 2.0 grade point average, be of good moral values, have never committed any crimes, and be interested in law enforcement. Meetings are normally held on Wednesday nights at the Pembroke Pines Police Department headquarters. Law Enforcement Exploring is a hands-on program open to young men and women interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field in the criminal justice system. The program offers young adults a personal awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical experiences, competition, and other activities. Additionally, the program promotes personal growth through character development, respect for the rule of law, physical fitness, good citizenship, and patriotism.

The most popular careers of interest to Law Enforcement Explorers are:

• City Law Enforcement Officers • County Law Enforcement Officers • State Law Enforcement Officers • Federal Law Enforcement Officers & Special Agents • Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts, Forensic

Laboratory, Specialists & other vital support specialists ▸ Students who are interested in learning more about the program should contact the Pembroke Pines PD Community Affairs Unit for more info at 954-436-3274 or CAU@ppines.com.
