The Miami Dolphins and Air Pros USA came together to help a Pembroke Pines Veteran. Rudolph “Rudy” Watt, a retired Army veteran with a total and permanent disability, was nominated to receive a brand-new air conditioning unit, free of charge.

The Miami Dolphins FOOTBALL UNITES™ program worked through nominations from community partners such as the Wounded Warrior Project to select Rudy. On Wednesday, September 2, Air Pros USA installed a new air conditioning unit at Rudy’s residence and assisted with all permit requirements.

“We are in the business of providing cool and healthy indoor home environments and we understand better than anyone else how important it is to feel comfortable in your own home,” said Anthony Perera, founder of Air Pros USA. “By teaming up with Miami Dolphins FOOTBALL UNITES™, everyone at Air Pros USA feels proud to be able to help a veteran in need and show our gratitude for his service in the military and our community.”

Hamilton, Miami Dolphins Senior Director of Community Relations & Youth Programs. “Through our great community partner, the Wounded Warrior Project, we were able to identify a deserving individual and provide him with an air-conditioning unit that will hopefully make Rudy’s life at home a little easier.”

After retiring from the Army with over two decades of service, Rudy returned to South Florida where he spends most of his time in community service volunteering with organizations such as the Wounded Warrior Project, The Mission Continues, Act-2, and Veterans Ocean Adventures. Last year, Rudy’s home caught on fire and he lost everything. He recently closed on a home in Pembroke Pines, but the AC unit was faulty and needed to be replaced.

“We’ve known Rudy for many years and salute him for his service to our country and his commitment to serve and help those around him. Rudy lost everything in the house fire, including his physical memories of his time in the military and his diving gear which he uses to help disabled veterans enjoy the healing powers of water. He is a fantastic human being and it was only fair for us to nominate him and be able to help him out,” said Edwin Vasco, Outreach Specialist at the Wounded Warrior Project.
