There’s Much to Celebrate on July 4th
W
e celebrate the United States’ independence from England each year on July 4th. In 1776, the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence, declaring the 13 colonies were no longer subject to British rule. While U.S. independence is clearly the most significant historical event on July 4th, interestingly, several other important events have taken place on this particular day. On July 4th, 1827, the State of New York abolished slavery. At one time, New York had the second largest slave population among the colonies. This legal act eventually led to the abolishment of slavery throughout the country and, in part, the Civil War. On July 4th, 1997, NASA’s Pathfinder landed on the surface of Mars. The landing and subsequent scientific mission were watched by people around the world, including by a young South African named Elon Musk and a Seattle book seller named Jeff Bezos. Those two would eventually go on to found SpaceX and Blue Origin, the world’s first privately funded space exploration companies, among other notable businesses. On July 4th, 1939, New York Yankees’ first baseman Lou Gehrig shocked the world by announcing his retirement from baseball and the fact that he was suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Despite his horrible diagnosis, he captured the hearts of America by claiming that he was the “luckiest man on the face of the earth.” On July 4th, 1918, the Bolsheviks killed Russia’s Tsar and his family. In 1845, Henry David Thoreau moved into a log cabin at Walden pond. In 1803, Thomas Jefferson announced the signing of the Louisiana Purchase, the first step on America’s path to becoming a global Super-Power. And in 1976, Israeli commandos executed the most daring raid in military history, rescuing over 100 hostages in Entebbe, Uganda. Coincidentally, the United States is not the only nation to celebrate its independence on July 4th;so does the Philippines. This year, as you enjoy a traditional 4th of July barbecue followed by a patriotic fireworks show, think of all the other historical events that this day marks. Happy Birthday, America!

Fun on the Fourth – Celebrations in Plantation and Sunrise BY BEVERLY PERKINS

ndependence Day, most fondly called the Fourth of July, commemorates the Declaration of Independence of the United States on July 4, 1776. July’s signature holiday is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbeques, carnivals, baseball games, concerts, and family reunions. Plantation and Sunrise certainly know how to celebrate the holiday as both cities offer many festivities. “Plantation’s Independence Day celebration started as a hometown parade organized by a few neighbors and has since grown into an exciting day-long event attended by thousands of friends and family from around South Florida,” exclaimed Plantation Mayor Lynn Stoner. “This year’s theme, Generations of Pride, is a perfect expression of the event’s history.” The morning of the 4th starts off with a parade at 9:00 am at the corner of West Broward Boulevard and NW 46th Avenue, which will then head west to NW 69th Avenue continuing onto NW 4th Street, ending at City Hall with an awards ceremony. Please note the parade route roads will be closed to traffic during the parade from approximately from 7:00am-11:00am. Later that evening, enjoy a concert and fireworks at Central Park, 9151 NW 2nd Street, Plantation. Sunrise Mayor Michael Ryan Plays by the Rules and Wins! BY BEVERLY PERKINS
I
n late May, The Florida League of Cities (FLC) honored Sunrise Mayor Michael Ryan with the 2019 Home Rule Hero Award. The Sunrise mayor was recognized for his tireless efforts to protect the Home Rule powers of Florida’s municipalities from sweeping state laws that may fail to consider local needs and advance the League’s legislative agenda during the 2019 legislative session. In 1922, the FLC was founded on the belief that local self-government is the keystone of American democracy. It is the united voice for Florida’s municipal governments and is formed and governed by a city’s citizens. Home Rule is the ability for a city to establish its own form of government and enact ordinances, codes, plans, and resolutions without a prior state of approval. It addresses local problems with local solutions with minimal state interference. “Home Rule enables us as elected officials to adopt local laws to meet the unique needs of our communities,” explained Mayor Ryan.
The Home Rule Hero Award was created by the League’s legislative team to recognize and thank those individuals who make an extraordinary effort in their cities. Local government officials, both elected and nonelected, who consistently respond to the League’s request to reach out to members of the legislature and offer their local perspective of an issue can be recipients of the award. The award winners are the municipal officials who stand out for their high level of participation and effectiveness. Since its inception in 2009, hundreds have been awarded for their efforts. “The dedication and effort of these local officials during the 2019 legislative session was extraordinary,” said FLC Legislative Director Scott Dudley. “These are some of our biggest advocates for municipal issues, and they’re shining examples of local advocacy in action. On behalf of the League and its legislative team, we’re proud to recognize each and every one of them and thank them for their service.” Home Rule Hero allows those who know
their cities best to be involved. City officials who actively participate help the League’s legislative team understand how their decisions impact their communities. Furthermore, they are able to assist, guide, and be the voice for their local government. “Recent preemption proposals this year would prevent cities from regulating scooters, shortterm rentals and local price competition involving private solid waste companies. In fact, Governor DeSantis vetoed a law that would have preempted the power of local governments to act locally, recognizing there is a political process that must be respected locally. Unfortunately, the corporate strategy of preemption has become the most effective hammer to prevent local communities from acting even when there is a consensus to act locally,” added Mayor Ryan.
“Staff were all polite and professional. I fear the dentist and they put me at ease. The dentist was gentle and very knowledgeable. I haven’t been to the dentist in a long time and they treated me with respect and kindness... no derision. Would recommend to anyone!” Jennifer C, Current Patient

o you feel Old? It’s a simple question, but the answer could uncover several age-related health issues. There are now sciencebased treatments that can slow and even reverse the effects of aging. Personal health typically peaks when we are around 25 years old. A primary reason for this is the fact that 25-year-olds produce the highest levels of natural hormones (estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, thyroid, etc.). As we age, hormone levels begin to decrease, corresponding with a decline in our overall health: organs deteriorate; concentration, memory and decision-making decline; and problems emerge with blood pressure, bone loss, heart disease, kidney function and liver function. Most medical doctors call this normal aging. Fortunately, you don’t have to go downhill that rapidly. Aging, like any other medical condition, can be treated. Universities and research centers throughout the world continue to unlock the secrets of aging. Dr. Val Manocchio, at Doctors Best Wellness Center, could be the perfect physician to help you offset the impacts of aging.

The Specialist You Need – Val Manocchio, M.D. Dr. Manocchio is one of the few physicians who is board certified in the field of Antiaging and Regenerative Medicine in South Florida. He has helped patients optimize their health, build muscle and lose weight for more than 20 years. The team at Doctors Best Wellness Center know that traditional medicine often masks symptoms rather than treat underlying problems. Instead, they work to get to the root of their patients’ health and aging concerns, driving meaningful, lasting results. Dr. Manocchio is a Fellow at the American Academy of Anti-Aging, Functional and Regenerative Medicine (A4M) and holds a medical degree from the University of Miami. His first
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Hormones are naturally produced in the glands. They act as messengers to control metabolic processes throughout our bodies. Everything from memory & concentration to regulating blood pressure is controlled by proper hormone levels therefore protecting all organs. When out of balance, cellular damage results, symptoms patients present with to their doctor typically come much later. Doctors Best Wellness Center prescribes and replaces bioidentical hormones, which are the same
with Botox and dermal fillers for over ten years. “I began my emergency medicine career in 1979 and practiced anesthesiology for several years,” said Dr. Manocchio, “Today in my South Florida clinic I believe I am truly saving many more lives than I did in the operating room or the emergency room. I help my patients achieve optimal health through medical weight loss, nutritional replacement, and Hormone Replacement Therapy.”

exact molecular structure that your body normally produces. According to recent clinical studies, patients with bioidentical hormone replacement feel better and are healthier physically and mentally. Plus, they live significantly longer. Doctors Best Wellness Center practices evidence-based medicine, proven by properly conducted clinical studies. Regretfully, the importance of managing hormone levels and the impact they have on the aging process is seldom taught at medical schools. In fact, Dr. Manocchio often sees patients with obvious symptoms that were not diagnosed because proper blood tests were never measured. Low “T” While most people associate testosterone with healthy sexual function, there are testosterone receptors in both the brain and heart. Testosterone is essential for memory, concentration and focus. Even though most men come in for testosterone to improve sexual health, attaining proper levels improves heart, lung and brain heath as well. Testosterone is perceived to be a male-only or masculine hormone. In reality, testosterone essential in women as well. It regulates fertility, red blood cell production, muscle mass and fat distribution. It is crucial for memory, concentration, stamina, immunity and
of course libido. It is also essential to prevent vaginal dryness and pain, and very important for weight loss in menopausal women. Thankfully, patients who are diagnosed with Low-T can be treated with bioidentical hormone therapy. You will be given a supplement of the exact hormone your own body produces. The results from this type of therapy can be immediate. Patients frequently feel better within a day or two. Medically Managed Weight Loss Anyone who has ever tried to drop even a couple of pounds knows that weight loss is hard. Weight control often requires Medical monitoring and intervention. After nearly 25 years caring for weight loss Patients, Dr. Manocchio knows certain principles and lifestyle alterations must be followed to achieve lasting results. However, without replacing hormone irregularities and measuring and maintaining proper blood test levels it may not be possible to control healthy weight. Diet and exercise alone is often not enough. The combination of aging, lower hormone levels, faltering immune function, muscle loss make it impossible to control weight with diet and exercise alone. Combining the best of conventional & preventative Medicine Contact Doctors Best Wellness Center today. Together with you, they will design the therapy and lifestyle adjustment plan to boost energy, control weight and get you feeling the best you can. Optimizing your hormones means putting them back where they were when you were 25 years old. Patients receiving these therapies gain strengthened immunity against disease, have lower incidence of cancer and live longer. This therapy slows the progression of the problems we typically call normal aging, including osteoporosis, hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and dementia, not to mention menopause & PMS, andropause & ED, wrinkles, bruising, loss of facial volume. ■ Doctors Best Wellness Center is located at 2237 N Commerce Pkwy., Suite 3 in Weston. Honoring Decades of Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic – SPHS Super Six Retire BY BEVERLY PERKINS
S
tudents, teachers, and administrators alike wrapped the 2018-2019 school year with many parties, graduations, and celebrations. But it was the South Plantation High School (SPHS) “Super Six” who really wrapped things up. It was time for a grand retirement celebration at Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Lynnda Butler (Math, 46 years), Fran Holmes (Math, 34 years), Jerry Holt (DECA, 44 years), Barbara McNeile (Medical Skills, 22 years), Akram Molaka (Science, 33 years), and Debbie Vogt (English, 39 years) were recognized for their numerous years of dedicating their careers to education. Holt and Vogt spent most their years at SPHS, but it was McNeile who spent all her years donning purple and gold. Usually each department has separate parties for those on their teams, but this year so many were retiring at the same time that it only made sense to have a large celebration for all of them. In attendance were SPHS administrators, teachers,
custodians, clerical, coaches, and prior colleagues of the retirees along with family members. Former teachers, also now retired, came for the festivities including Jim Overfield, one of the first teachers at SPHS who retired last year as the “Last Original Paladin”. “May 28th was a very special day as family and friends celebrated the careers of six teachers from South Plantation High with a combined teaching career of 215+ years. A sad day for the students they will never teach, but a happy one for the teachers and their families,” expressed Alyce Culpepper, Retired SPHS teacher. A slide show was presented which included “fun facts” about each educator. For example, Debbie Vogt taught under seven principals at SPHS and taught over 7,000 students. Art students created and
presented portraits of each teacher along with signed autograph books and “Good-Bye Jars” with monetary tips for retirement. Everyone enjoyed mingling, sharing stories, and eating a delicious dinner followed by more upbeat conversation and festivities. “We can rejoice in their extensive careers and the thousands of students who had the opportunity to be exposed to teaching at its very best. We will miss each and every one of them,” added Culpepper.

Students began with a hands-on tour of an ambulance and a fire truck and the station. Most importantly, they learned how firefighters work as a team to maintain their living quarters on their 24-hour shifts. Finally, students got to learn about firefighter training and witness how firefighters get to their trucks fast by sliding down the pole. “The KAPOW program bridges the gap between what students learn at school and how it applies to the real world of work. The program exposes students to various careers they never knew existed and allows them to have practical goals for the future. Our volunteers connect with kids by sharing their pathway to success and becomes a valuable mentor in the classroom,” explained Tania Reynolds, KAPOW Program Director. CAN DO KID
Case Closed - Seminole Middle School Student “Re-Rights” History BY BEVERLY PERKINS
What began as a typical school project turned into so much more for a Seminole Middle School student. Ben Polsky was a fourth grader at the time when he was inspired to make a positive difference after reading the 2013 Pulitzer Prize-winning book, “Devil in the Grove,” by Gilbert King. The ambitious elementary student decided to write his own book for a school assignment about the historic case of the Groveland Four: Walter Irvin,
Samuel Shepard, Charles Greenlee, and Ernest Thomas which dates to 1949 when the four men were falsely accused of raping a woman. With the help of his mother Nancy Polsky, “Re-Righting History: The Groveland Boys” was written and it shared their passionate story about the four innocent black youths found guilty and sentenced for a terrible crime they did not commit to create awareness of the forgotten tale so long ago. The mother-son duo’s book then inspired Ben’s peers and their parents to get involved and also make a difference. Although in 2017 state legislators issued an apology to the men and their families, their names were not cleared. A couple years ago during Black History Month, the ambitious student and his classmates wrote more than 2,000 postcards to the Governor and members of the cabinet requesting expedited clemency review.
24 JULY 2019 | OUR CITY PLANTATION | OURCITYMEDIA.COM
This year all the Seminole Panthers celebrated the victorious pardon made 70 years after the alleged crime by Gov. Ron DeSantis who called the case a “miscarriage of justice” on his third day in office. Over 1200 students wrote personal messages of gratitude which Ben hand-delivered to Tallahassee. This year as the case was finally put to rest and the school year came to a close, Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried visited the Plantation students and thanked them for their activism surrounding criminal justice and presented them with a proclamation declaring their “shining example of
citizen involvement in government for the people.” “What they were able to do when they put their voices into something, they were able to make an impact,” expressed Fried. But it was seventh-grader Ben, who Fried thanked explicitly when she presented the proclamation to the Seminole Middle School Panthers. “I spoke with the Groveland families who are just so happy. I hope my classmates feel proud and will always remember that they can, and did make a difference,” exclaimed Ben Polsky.

What Can I Do About My Bunion? BY DR. JOHN GOODNER
A
bunion is a bony bump that forms on the joint at the base of your big toe. It is part of your normal foot and not a growth of new bone. The foot bones are starting to spread out, making the bone more prominent. Here are answers to commonly asked questions about bunions and bunion surgery: What is the cause of bunions? Most commonly it is hereditary. Tight shoes will often bring out the problem sooner. Poor foot structure (i.e. flatfeet) may also contribute to the problem. Can I avoid getting bunions if my mother and grandmother have them? Generally, no. You may wear shoes that are wider in the toe box. This may delay the onset of bunions and prevent them from getting very painful. Eventually, a bunion will appear if you are predisposed to it. Do bunions get worse? Over time the bones in the feet spread out further making a bunion appear larger. It may take months to many years, but they will almost always get worse, especially if you are pronated or flatfooted. Cartilage will start to wear thin and some degree of arthritis may develop. What causes the pain over the bunion? Shoes that are narrow put pressure on the skin, nerves and bone. Numbness or tingling may also develop as the nerve gets compressed against the bone by tight shoes. Can the bunion be corrected? Bunions can be corrected surgically if the bunion is painful and it is unresponsive to conservative care. In some cases, small bunions hurt much more than large bunions. Is it painful to have surgery? When done correctly by an experienced surgeon minimal pain is involved. We have done more than 5,000 bunion surgeries.
Can I walk on it immediately after surgery? We advise people to stay off their foot for two or three days. A surgical boot is utilized for a period of six weeks to protect the area and allow it to heal properly. How quickly can I return to work after surgery? It usually requires four days of rest at home before returning to work. A special surgical shoe or boot is given to take stress off the area and prevent problems from developing postoperatively. How long will it take to get back into normal shoes? Everyone is different. It will usually take four to six weeks to get back into flat shoes or sneakers. Heels may take two to three months. Will I be able to resume sports after surgery? Stationery bicycles may be used one to two weeks after surgery. Running sports and activities may require six or more weeks. I had bunion surgery many years ago and it has come back. Can I do something about it? Yes. If the surgical procedure is done correctly a second time the results may be outstanding provided that there are no arthritic changes in the joint. If there are arthritic changes, many surgical options are available to correct the deformity. What is the long-term prognosis? In almost all cases, it is excellent. The earlier the treatment, the better the long-term prognosis because arthritic changes are minimized. MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR
Summertime Happenings in Plantation BY MAYOR LYNN STONER ummer may “officially” start once the kids are out of school. But Independence Day is when things really heat up! The City’s Annual Independence Day celebration is second to none, starting with a parade kicking off at 9:00 AM and running along Broward Boulevard toward City Hall. Later that evening at Central Park, enjoy a free concert, children’s carnival, food trucks, and one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in Broward County! This year’s theme, Generations of Pride, is a perfect expression of the event’s history: Plantation’s Independence Day celebration started as a hometown parade organized by a few neighbors and has since grown into an exciting day-long event attended by thousands of friends and family from around South Florida. A quick reminder from our Parks & Recreation staff: for your safety and the safety of others, please refrain from using fireworks, sparklers and alcoholic beverages within the park. This event historically attracts thousands of people, and parking is limited. For your convenience, please plan to come early, or carpool with friends. If you live in the area, you may wish to walk or ride your bike. Watch the Water – Watch the Kids! Summer in South Florida conjures up images of days spent playing in the pool, going to the beach, or boating on the open water. While we all want the chance to relax and let our guard down, it’s important to remember that drowning is the leading cause of death among young children in Florida and that most child drownings occur in backyard pools. Preventing child drowning is an adult responsibility. Whenever a child is in or near any body of water, constant adult supervision is required. The Plantation Fire Department wants everyone to enjoy a safe and happy swimming season. So, “Watch the Water – Watch the Kids.”

HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Struggling with Pelvic Pain? BY RAHIL MALIK M.D. FACOG bdominal pain in women is a common malady. Statistics from the Centre for Disease Control show a national trend with as much as 12-15% of all visits to the emergency room (E.R.) attributed to abdominal pain. However, only a small percentage of these visits are due to emergent conditions and most patients require outpatient visits with specialists to further manage their pain. It is not uncommon for women to struggle with abdominal pain for days, weeks, months and sometimes years, before discovering the cause of their pain and identifying strategies to help fix the source of their pain. The difficulties in identifying the cause behind a patient’s abdominal pain stems from the various organ systems that can potentially give rise to the pain. It can be challenging to identify the cause of the pain and often blood tests, imaging studies (CT, MRI, Ultrasound) and sometimes surgery are required before a final diagnosis can be made. Visits to numerous doctors and undergoing multiple medical tests can be time-consuming, demoralizing and costly for an individual. However, this process can be improved with simple steps that a patient can take towards owning their health and being prepared for their visits. A thorough history and physical exam can allow a physician to identify the most likely culprit behind your pain and reduce the number of diagnostic tests. A visit with your Ob-Gyn can be helpful in your evaluation but an unprepared soul can sometimes find it overwhelming to answer questions on the spot. Nonetheless, you can make your visit beneficial and efficient if you take a few minutes to address these questions and bring to your next appointment. ▸▸ Location – Where is the pain localized? Can you point with your finger to identify a location or is it non-specific and diffuse? ▸▸ Modifying factors – what makes the pain better? What makes it worse? Does eating food minimize your pain? Is your pain worsened with movement? Is your pain linked to your menstrual cycle? Does urinating affect pain? Does your pain worsen or improve with passing stools? These factors can help determine if your pain is arising from your intestines, bladder or uterus/ovary, etc. ▸▸ Novelty – Is the pain acute or is this pain occurring for a longer period of time? Has there been a period of time where you were pain-free? ▸▸ Onset – When did the pain start? ▸▸ Precipitating factors – What caused the pain? Any trauma or strenuous activity? ▸▸ Quality – Is it sharp, dull, throbbing, dull? Is the pain persistent or intermittent? Is your pain daily or only at certain times of the day or week? ▸▸ Radiation – Does the pain travel to any other part of your body? ▸▸ Severity Score – On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your pain? Does the pain fluctuate during the day? ▸▸ Therapies / Tests completed – What imaging tests have you completed in the past? It would be useful to bring copies of imaging reports to your appointment for your physician to review and to compare against newer tests. If there were medications prescribed previously, did it help reduce your abdominal pain?

MESSAGE FROM THE FIRE CHIEF
The Dog Days of Summer BY DON TODD, PLANTATION FIRE CHIEF Ah, summertime in Florida… Temperatures reach the high 90s, with humidity almost as high. While the rest of the country relishes our weather from October to March, in August Floridians are pretty much on their own. There is no doubt, the summer sun can have a profound effect on many of us. Keeping safe and as cool as possible is essential for those of us living in paradise. So, here are a few tips to help keep your cool during the Dog Days of Summer: First and foremost, stay hydrated. Drink lots of water. Your body can lose a tremendous amount of water simply through sweating and breathing. You may not even realize you are becoming dehydrated until it’s too late. Drinking water steadily, throughout the day, will keep you ahead of the curve. It’s also important to recognize the signs of dehydration early. The first sign of dehydration is thirst. If you’re feeling thirsty, you’re beginning to get dehydrated. If you’re feeling dizzy, chilled, nauseous,

or experiencing cramps you may be experiencing more profound effects of heat exposure. Stop your activity, get into a shady or cooler area quickly and slowly drink water. If symptoms are more profound, do not take anything by mouth. Lie down, elevate your feet and place cool towels on your head and under your arms or legs. It’s also important to keep your head covered when you’re outside. Your body exchanges most of its heat through your head. Keeping your head covered provides shade and helps your body better regulate its internal temperature. Exposure is another big concern in the summer sun. Especially for those who don’t live here yearround. UV rays can cause serious sunburns very quickly. Using sunscreen with a high SPF rating and keeping yourself covered when out in the sun is essential. Even when it’s overcast, you may not realize how much your skin is being bombarded. Should you receive a sunburn, apply cool, moist towels to help cool the burn. Do not cover the burn with creams or greasy lotions that may lock in the heat. Burns covering large areas or beginning to blister should be seen by a medical provider. Finally, heat exhaustion and heat stroke are two very serious, heat-related conditions. Heat
exhaustion is heralded by nausea, dizziness and cold sweats. Get the person into a cool environment quickly, lie them down, and apply cool towels as described above. Heat stroke is a life-threatening condition caused by the body’s inability to cool itself. Internal body temperatures can climb to fatal levels. The person’s skin is usually red, hot, with dried, parched lips. The person will most likely be unconscious and may have a seizure. If these symptoms present themselves remove the patient to a cool area immediately and call 9-1-1. Remember that young children and the elderly are most susceptible to excessive heat. Taking these simple precautions can not only help avoid heatrelated pitfalls but can help make the remainder of your summer fun and enjoyable. Enjoy and stay cool. BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT
Help-U-Sell Broward Realty: Not Only Sells Houses but Saves U $$$ BY BEVERLY PERKINS
O
ver four decades ago, Help-U-Sell® Real Estate was created as an alternative to traditional real estate agencies. Since it’s opening, it has become the leading fee-for-service real estate franchise with more than 100 offices including a local franchise in Plantation. Help-U-Sell’s® unique business model allows consumers to save thousands of dollars compared to what they would spend on a traditional broker’s fees. However, these savings do not translate to a reduction in services. Help-U-Sell Broward Realty, a fully licensed Florida Real Estate Brokerage, offers full premium service to all of their clients regardless of the size of the property or the selling price of the home. Their licensed professionals manage the entire selling process from start to finish, handle all negotiations, provide referrals, show their Seller’s homes, and provide expert advice and representation. Help-U-Sell Broward Realty’s fresh approach to selling a home has been valuable to so many that Brian Meyerowitz, the Managing Broker for the local Help-U-Sell® office, took some time to share more about his franchise so he can help others achieve the same results.
What distinguishes Help-U-Sell Broward Realty from the competition? Our platform is unique. We don’t charge the consumer based on the price of the home. We don’t believe that the price of the home should dictate the fee paid. For example, we never understood why an “ordinary” brokerage charges substantially more to sell a $500,000 home versus a $300,000 home. It is illogical, and unfair to the consumer. Help-U-Sell Broward Realty offers a fair, low set fee regardless of the price of the home.* Although we only charge a low set fee (due at closing) we pride ourselves on providing premium full-service representation with a personal touch from the beginning to the end of the transaction. What are some of the things you offer your clients? First, we do an in-home consultation. We then create a full marketing program to include the MLS, Realtor.com, Zillow, Trulia, and other popular real estate sites. We will dispatch a professional photographer, videographer, and a drone pilot to come to your home and take photos, a virtual tour, and an aerial tour on ALL listings. Next, we will coordinate and manage paperwork, inspections, appraisals, and anything else needed. What else would you like to share with our readers? Previously, in conjunction with my real estate practice, I owned a full-service mortgage broker-
age. We sold that practice, and now fully concentrate on real estate. However, our prior experience in the mortgage business is invaluable to our Sellers. For example, we know the proper questions to ask the Buyer’s lender in order to minimize risks during the transaction. This knowledge is critical to keeping a deal together. We help Buyers too. In fact, our “Smart Buy” program provides many Buyer benefits including assistance paying some of the fees associated with a typical purchase transaction. Any final thoughts? I have also served 18 consecutive years as a judge on the Professional Standards Committee. That means that I conduct ethics hearings when disputes between two local brokerages arise. This is an appointed position by the Board of Realtors. The time I spend helping to resolve disputes is performed “probono”. I love giving back to the Realtor community. For more information or a complimentary home consultation, please contact Help-U-Sell Broward Realty at 954-727-8218 or call Brian Meyerowitz, the Managing Broker directly at 954-4703444. You may also visit the website at www. HelpUSellBroward.com *Broker/co-op fees may apply. Fees vary for luxury properties.
