LOCAL DANCERS SELECTED FOR INTERNATIONAL DANCE COMPETITION

GREAT EXCITEMENT! Photographed here as they leave the examination room having danced their way to Distinction for their final examination, R.A.D. Advanced II, and the opportunity to travel overseas and represent International Dance Academy (IDA) and the United States in a world-recognized prestigious ballet competition.

Congratulations to Paula Zapata, Indie Hurley and Elizabeth Haeflinger for an outstanding achievement.

IDA is the only school in South Florida to offer the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) instruction and formal certification under the patronage of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, firmly putting IDA in a class of its own! Annually, IDA students from age 7 – 18 achieve excellent results for levels from Primary to Advanced II in their formal examinations. The world-recognized R.A.D. diploma sets IDA pupils a step above the rest in college applications or further advancement.

Paula, Indie and Elizabeth, by obtaining distinction for Advanced II, qualify to dance in the Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition (formerly Geneé) in a city to be announced. Only dancers who qualify with distinction are invited to join what is considered the Olympics of classical ballet competition. Usually no more than 30-35 dancers attend from countries all around the world, train together for a full week under the most celebrated choreographers and teachers in the world and perform their solos and unset class on stage before a capacity audience. Even though a Gold and Silver Medal is awarded, it is the prestige of having qualified that is the most coveted reward.
