My personal transportation is most impacted by…

Reduced bus fares, too much violence on buses

COTA needs more federal funding

Cut the #1 and #9 routes

Access to a grocery store for people without cars

Improved transportation to have access to

Meeting #1 - September 5, 2017 Northern Lights Library •

Need safer pedestrian crossings on corridor streets, especially Cleveland Avenue. Only safe crossings are at stop lights and there are great distances between stop lights (especially south of Hudson). Teens jaywalk crossing Cleveland to Linden McKinley HS. Many children walking to school in the Linden community. Pedestrian crossings are needed to provide safe access throughout the community as well as crosswalks near schools. Particularly dangerous crossing at Cleveland and Westerville Road split. Note: remedial safety measures must speak to all populations (kids / elderly / persons with

cognitive issues).

Connective vehicles and infrastructure. Looking to residents in Linden about installing equipment on their vehicles as volunteers and start a pilot research program.

Check MORPC sidewalk inventory database.

Traffic calming measures are required within the neighborhood to reduce the frequency / intensity of speeding cars.

Longer bus hours are required for those working second and possibly third shifts.

Hope for a reduction in pedestrian crashes; changes in driving behavior.

Additional speed limit signs should be posted along Cleveland Avenue.

On-street parking allowed on both sides of corridor street - important to keep in mind deliveries and truck traffic.

15 applications to deploy as part of the volunteer program. Locations: High Street, Cleveland Avenue, and Morse Road are the main corridors. Goal: train local auto-repair shops to install the equipment.

Community plan must be coordinated with SmartColumbus efforts.

“We know privacy and trust are issues. We will continue outreach sessions.”

Cleveland Avenue is officially designated as a “Principal Urban Arterial”

Need to make sure to preserve sightdistance at intersections when planting new trees and adding signs. Be careful when planting trees because sometimes kids might tear them down.

Pedestrian treatment map.

Signal re-timing along the Cleveland Avenue corridor to improve traffic flow.

Meeting #2 - October 3, 2017 Linden Branch Library •

Walkability Score (43211 is 52; 100 is perfect) as a measure of walkability. But the walkability score is really just a reflection of pedestrian access to amenities, ability to run errands on foot—not actual walkable connectivity of sidewalks.

How about school busses stopping on Cleveland Avenue? Not actually required for opposing traffic to stop on a 4-lane road.

We can’t do creative licensing with crosswalks because of regulations for crosswalk markings. They want to keep the crosswalks consistent across the city

UIRF •

Windsor Park improvements.

Re-surfacing Cleveland Avenue (2017 or 2018).

Meeting #3 - November 30, 2017 Linden Branch Library •

Consider additional transit hub at either Hudson or Myrtle & Cleveland Avenue

Comment to “incent” utilization of “smart” devices in private automobiles (representatives indicated that USDOT does not allow such incentives)

Comment that Smart Columbus should meet with MORPC representatives to discuss age-appropriate transportation planning (Smart Columbus has meet with MORPC)

Could local grants be used to provide smart phones to low-income residents to assist with their transportation planning / needs?

Community-wide perception of public transportation needs to change

Provide access to safe, high-quality, and affordable housing to create an environment where children, families, and individuals can grow and thrive. WALKABILITY & SAFETY • Pedestrian safety should be improved along the Cleveland Avenue corridor •

Crosswalk interventions at high-risk points

INTERNAL NEIGHBORHOOD CONNECTIONS • COTA should offer additional hours for off-peak employment •

Change public perception of mass transportation

SPEEDING • Cars travel too quickly along Cleveland Avenue and internal neighborhood streets •

Reduce number of one-way streets

Install more speed limit signs or other mitigation solutions

CONNECTIVITY • Improve people’s ability to circulate within the neighborhood •

Fix broken sidewalks and complete the sidewalk network

Add or replace street lights

Improve bicycle connections within the neighborhood and to other parts of the city
