Buckyboots The Transparent Mouse Hullo Children, let me introduce you to Buckyboots, the transparent mouse. Buckyboots is long for Buck, which is a proper name. I don't know why he was called that. Some people say 'Buck' must be short for Buckingham-Palace, because of the nobility of his bearing. Here is a picture of Buckyboots. What do you think?

Bucky aged 10

As you can see from his picture, Bucky (which is short for Buckyboots) has a strange superpower. He is transparent, and as I am sure you know, transparent means you can see through him. If you could see Buckyboots in 2

his picture then he wouldn't be there, would he? What is strange about Bucky is he cannot tell a lie. So if you can see through him then he must be there. But if you can't, well, I don't wish to cast aspersions, but really, Children, how can you see his picture? He has a very striking pair of boots on. Leather boots with shiny buckles, reaching up to his knees. I suppose that is when he got his nickname, when he was 10. How can I tell? Well, to tell the truth, I read it in a book, and ever since I can't see through Bucky's boots. They just stopped being transparent. Can you see them? He also has bright eyes with secret depths, and a jacket of green velvet, and a yellow silk scarf - so I once read. I must say that with his noble bearing, his is the very picture of a wellto-do mouse. But if you can see him in his picture, he really can't be there.

Bucky the transparent mouse Lives in a transparent house. Here is a picture of it. Isn't it grand?

Buck's House

How can I tell? Well, I once read there's a huge sign on the wall outside his house saying NO LOUD NOISES. It must be grand, having a huge wall and a sign outside. There are no loud noises in the picture, are there? I see that Buckyboots is at home.

Buckboots' transparent house Is set in a transparent lawn. Don't ask, I've just read it. How can I be sure? Well, here's a picture of it inside the wall outside the house. Isn't it lovely?

No Horses

The same picture? No it isn't. There's a huge sign saying NO HORSES. There are no horses in this picture, and Buckyboots cannot tell a lie. No horses and no Buckyboots and no house in the other pictures? How can you tell? If you can see they are not there, they must be somewhere else. I wonder where. 5
