presents
Special LGBT Youth Event MY PRAIRIE HOME Film Screening & Workshop
Sun 29th June 3pm YouthAction, College Sq. North
Outburst Arts, supported by Film Hub NI, presents LightsOUT!, a celebration of LGBT and Queer Cinema across Northern Ireland! For our Belfast stop-off we’re very excited to be teaming up with YouthAction to present a special event for young LGBT people...
Having captivated the crowds at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, we’re delighted to screen the wonderful My Prairie Home and to welcome it’s star, Rae Spoon, who’ll introduce the film and host an interactive workshop, with music, after the screening. Growing up queer and trans in an abusive, evangelical Christian household in Alberta, Canada, gave Rae a unique perspective on life. Whether singing or in interview they (Rae uses gender neutral pronouns) have a disarming honesty and charm about experiences that often reflect many people’s experiences here in Northern Ireland. Set against a backdrop of diners, burnt out cars, Greyhound bus stations and giant model dinosaurs, My Prairie Home is a beautiful reflection on home and
belonging, using documentary, music videos and magical realism. This dreamy, odd, queer film is one for anyone who’s ever felt out of place. To reserve your place for the film and workshop, just email
