Outburst Arts, supported by Film Hub NI, presents LightsOUT! - a celebration of LGBT and Queer Cinema across Northern Ireland! For our Newry stop-off we’re teaming up with Newry Rainbow Community for two fabulous film screenings and events.

I AM DIVINE Upstairs in Bellini’s on the big screen Join us before PASSION for a screening of I Am Divine, a brilliant new film about the Queen of all drag queens, Divine. From humble beginnings as Glenn Milstead, an overweight, teased Baltimore gay youth to internationally recognized drag superstar in films such as Hairspray and Pink Flamingos, Divine’s story is touching, inspiring, funny and a brilliant watch. And we’ll be serving some LIVE drag realness after the screening, so get down early! Admission to film is FREE. Passion Club, £5.
Fri. 4th July 7.30pm REACHING FOR THE MOON Sean Hollywood Arts Centre £3 Set against a stunning Brazilian landscape, Reaching For the Moon has been hailed as Film Of The Year by Diva magazine and rightly so. It’s the beautifully told true story of the passionate and tempestuous love affair between Pulizer Prize winning American poet Elizabeth Bishop and Brazilian architect Lola de Macedo Soares and Outburst is delighted to be screening it first in Newry! In keeping with the theme of the film, Newry Lesbian & Bi Women’s Writing Group invites you to a reading straight after the screening. Let us know if you’d like to take part!
