More is more and more is better when it comes to layering jewelry. Mixing, matching, and stacking jewelry has been a perpetual trend in fashion for years, and it is not going anywhere anytime soon. College students are multifaceted in their talents, skills, and personalities. Layering jewelry allows one to express their individuality and create an individualized, tailored style. Creating the ideal combination of stackable jewelry is entirely up to your discretion. Whether styling sweats or an elegant dress, adding multiple jewelry pieces is sure to elevate the look. Switching up texture and design in chains while layering is one way to add dimension and make pieces stand out. When stacking necklaces, pick a preference of metal and do not be afraid to mix, then start with the shortest necklace as the base. Next, add more, ideally with each necklace longer than the previous one. The number of layering opportunities is endless; one piece can transform into many different looks depending on how it is styled. For bracelets and earrings, the same rules apply. Start with one, then add another; mix and match until the desired look is found. Experimenting is key when deciding what looks best; stackable hoop earrings are a personal favorite. Celebrities continue to embrace this trend in fashion. In Rihanna’s most recent Savage X Fenty ad, she layered two beautifully chunky cross necklaces paired with a corset lingerie set. Actress Hunter Schafer is continually seen layering dainty chokers with pendant necklaces.
There can never be too many when it comes to layering up rings. Machine Gun Kelly is constantly stacking bulky silver chains and hoop earrings but, more importantly, rings. In a recent Instagram photo, he wears three thick rings on one hand and one ring on the other. Choose rings that fit a personal style and try a few combinations until a preference is found. Limitless options are one of the many reasons why this trend keeps coming back season after season. The versatility and appeal to individual expression allow no one to be left out; anyone can mix and match jewelry to create distinctive looks. Being extra is always fun and showcasing multiple jewelry pieces is one way to do that, so why have one when you can have two or three?
