HER UNIQUE SENSE OF STYLE AND A KNACK FOR MAKING STREET STYLING SEEM EFFORTLESS (AS SEEN ON HER INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT) HAS BROUGHT HER NUMEROUS COLLABORATIONS WITH BRANDS SUCH AS GUCCI, VETEMENTS, LEVI’S AND MAC. Interview SHAYNA McHUGH Intro by ALLY MARRONE It was amazing that you got to walk the Dolce and Gabbana fashion show. How was the experience and what did you take from it? Like you said it was AMAZING. Stefano and Domenico are such lovely people. Through this experience I made great friends and I saw backstage how much work goes into only one show. I am so grateful for this adventure and that they make me feel like being part of a family. Are there any runway shows you are looking forward to this year? If so, what are they and why? Are you walking any of them?I always loved to walk for Dolce&Gabbana. Maybe another time? Lets see :) What is the most rewarding part of being an influencer? That so many people follow your path and support you. I have great followers who are so lovely and I also love to meet them in person. Do you think social media has effected this generation positively or negatively and why? I think it depends. When your life is only happening on social media and you are not enjoying „real
Bello
life“ it is really bad. But when you have a balance social media is such a great opportunity to express yourself and connect with people all around the world. Can you tell us about your favorite experience you have had traveling the world thus far? I think the greatest experience was the Olympic Games in Rio. It was another world. So inspiring, seeing so many cultures from all around coming together. I had goosebumps during the Opening Ceremony. Do you have a favorite destination? If so, where is it about how often do you visit? My favorite destination is definitely LA! It feels a little bit like home when I´m there. What are you most excited about coming up in 2018? Do you have any big plans for the year? I started acting classes in LA a few months ago…I played theatre for 3 years. It was always my dream to be an actor. So lets see. Its a new challenge for me! But now the fashion weeks are starting. There I have my focus on at the moment. After the fashion weeks I will plan more!

THANK YOU, GIANNI by Chelsey Peppe
With the upcoming premiere of The Assassination of Gianni Versace, the latest in Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story anthology, the subject of Gianni Versace’s death has re-emerged in the media with renewed life. The series, based on journalist Maureen Orth’s book Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U.S. History stars Édgar Ramírez as Gianni Versace, Ricky Martin as Versace’s long time partner Antonio D’Amico, Penélope Cruz as sister Donatella, and Darren Criss, in what many are saying is an eerily accurate portrayal of murderer Andrew Cunanan. The series, which the Versace family has been vocally against, is set to premiere on January 17th on FX. Ryan Murphy has been steadfast in his defense of the upcoming series, as he and the show’s stars are adamant that the upcoming anthology highlights the underlying subject of homophobia, which ultimately caused Versace’s untimely death.
Bello
The murderer, Cunanan, was listed as one of the FBI’s most-wanted, a list that was openly circulated around the country, an image of his face shared on the news every evening in the city of Miami where Versace was murdered. Yet, law enforcement was unable to catch him, even after Gianni became his fifth victim. The series promises to delve into this and explore the issue of homophobia in the police force and why it allowed Cunanan to continue his killing spree across the country.
then you don’t get ‘it’. ‘It’ sounds so vague, but those familiar understand. ‘It’ was Gianni’s passion; his insistence on taking risks and celebrating the beauty that IS women.
The death of Gianni Versace is something that the industry has yet to come to terms with, however, if there is a bright side to the tragedy, it is the awareness that it brought to the community. The legacy of Gianni Versace will be emblazoned in the hearts and minds of many, thanks to his brilliance, humor, and heart.
Typically a statement like that would force me to take a second look in the mirror, as I’ve always prided myself on being the girl who works in fashion without being the ‘fashion girl,’ but the legacy of Gianni Versace is inescapable, and no matter how ‘cool’ I wish to play it, it’s an impossible task. He, as Donatella reminded guests at Versace’s SS18 show this fall (a tribute to her late brother) gave women the chance to reclaim their voice; he was an ally, he reminded women that they were powerful, he taught that ‘only love is real’, and that’s a lesson we all could stand to relearn these days.
If the image of Donatella, flanked by Carla, Claudia, Naomi, Cindy and Helena, with the chorus of George Michael’s ‘Freedom! ’90’, reverberating in the background doesn’t give you goosebumps,
Perhaps it’s the general discord of our current political climate, but while re-watching the SS18 show, I found myself incredibly emotional. Fashion has always carried a heavy, sentimental connection for me -

it was a figurative escape when I lived in a generally conservative area of Florida as a child, void of any real creativity, and it was a literal escape, planned as a high schooler and finally hatched towards the end of college. Donatella’s SS18 show couldn’t have come at a more needed time; it was a reminder to women in the industry, and girls following from the sidelines as I once did, what women are capable of. It was a celebration of femininity, sexuality, friendship and risk. It was a reminder that when women stick together, they’re unstoppable. It brought back all of those things that Gianni made great, in the perfect celebration of Gianni’s life by those who love him most on the 20th anniversary of his death. Gianni Versace was groundbreaking; he broke rules. He made people feel uncomfortable, he forced the world and those around him to be more open. He brought Madonna, Tupac and Elton John together around one dinner table; he was beloved by Princess Diana and Mike Tyson, equally. He embraced those with a tattered image because he saw the beauty in imperfection.
a clothing line into a lifestyle brand. The ‘World of Versace’ is now home to fragrances, watches, eyewear, denim, accessories, as well as multi ready-to-wear brands. ‘Versace’ in and of itself is such a broad term - it carries such heavy context. Gianni Versace reshaped the landscape of fashion for women and the world of fashion itself. He made women feel strong, sexy and powerful. He gave women the strength they were searching for, even when they didn’t realize they were looking. It only seems fitting to end this with one of Donatella’s most poignant lines from her SS18 show - Gianni “helped to invent the future, because you were not afraid. We look ahead, because of you.”
“Imagine a world without his risk taking,” Donatella says in her SS18 runway voiceover. Versace’s early collections, under Gianni’s lead, were era-defining. Silks covered in brash prints, barely there, skin-tight minis, polyvinyl chloride baby-doll dresses and, perhaps most notably and my personal favorite, Versace’s FW92 Miss S&M collection, known to many as the “Bondage” collection. Gianni Versace made it known that he enjoyed designing for the woman’s body, and this shone in all of his collections. Gianni is credited as creating the era of ‘super’, as in SUPERmodel. He was the first designer to tap into celebrities and utilize them in ways others didn’t. His front rows were consistently laden with A-list celebrities, a pattern reestablished at his Milan funeral service, where Princess Diana sat with Elton John and Sting, mourning the late designer. Under sister Donatella’s lead, the Versace house has not faltered. While keeping Gianni’s signature, ultra-sexy ideals in mind, Donatella helped grow the company from

ALEX ROE: OF KING & COUNTRY Jacket STANDARD ISSUE | T-ShirtCADOGAN | Denim GIVENCHY
YOU DON'T OFTEN HEAR THE WORDS 'COUNTRY SUPERSTAR' AND 'LONDON, ENGLAND' IN THE SAME BREATH, BUT ALEX ROE IS ABOUT TO CHANGE THAT IN A BIG WAY. IN HIS UPCOMING ROMANTIC DRAMA, FOREVER MY GIRL, THE 27-YEAR-OLD LONDON-BORN ACTOR STARS AS A COUNTRY SUPERSTAR TRYING TO RECONCILE HIS MASSIVE FAME WITH THE REKINDLED LOVE HE LEFT BEHIND A DECADE AGO. BELLO RECENTLY CAUGHT UP WITH ALEX, WHO IS THIS ISSUE'S IT GUY, AND WE COVERED EVERYTHING FROM HIS NEWFOUND LOVE OF SINGING, HIS DEFINITION OF A DREAM WEEKEND, AND HIS LIFELONG LOVE OF THE KING: ELVIS PRESLEY. ______________ You live in Silver Lake now, but spent a lot of time living in Venice Beach. How did you enjoy that? I loved living in Venice Beach. I'm sure my agent and manager didn't enjoy it too much because I was often unavailable since I was in the water all the time (laughing). My favorite Venice memory happened about three months after I moved there when a few of us woke up around six in the morning to go for a surf. I'd never been in the water with any large fish or marine mammals before, and I suddenly saw a fin swimming past me. I obviously freaked out -- being a London boy who had never really seen a fin in the water any bigger than a goldfish. I made sure my whole body was on the board and everybody else was looking at me like I was crazy. But then this dolphin emerged from the water and jumped up and back in again. It was probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. You play a country star in movie. Were you ever into country music before? I had to wrap my brain around where the inspiration came from, and I was obsessed with Elvis Presley when I was around nine- to eleven-years-old, and even a little beyond that. I remember whenever my birthday or Christmas would come up, my gifts would always be a new Elvis LP, the Elvis Presley Fan Club, an Elvis movie, or something like that. I really wanted to be Elvis Presley when I was young. So when this came up as an opportunity, I had never sung for an audition before. Actually, I had never sang full-stop before, but I thought I'd give it a try. So I was quite surprised when Stephanie and the producers were actually willing to allow this English guy, who had never sung before, play a country superstar. I'm so glad that they did. They used my singing voice for all of it. I trained every day with a guy called Brett Boyett, and we went through all the songs. He told me artists to listen to, and which country stations to listen to (all day long), and I learned the songs on the guitar. And anybody who was into singing or the guitar, I would go over to their house and we would practice the songs. I really worked hard on it.

Did you ever do intimate surprise shows while shooting in Atlanta? We did, but moreso in Los Angeles during pre-production. We had a rehearsal room and a band, and would invite people to come in and be the audience. It really helped and was definitely worthwhile because on set there were 500+ extras and I could have completely frozen, but all that practice paid off and helped keep me calm as I performed. Will you keep singing? Well, Gibson gave me an incredible guitar so I can keep playing now. I feel lucky as an actor that I can venture into these different people's lives and get as deep into them as I possibly can, then move onto the next thing. I'm a bit of a Jack-of-all-trades in that respect I guess, and a master of none. I look at these roles as a way to jump into somebody else's life, and I probably do that too much with different characters because I work hard to figure out what it is to be that person. For example, for this role, I was lucky enough to attend a huge country music festival, and even meet many country music icons and talk to them as soon as they came off stage from performing for 50,000 people. I spoke with them about many things, including how to maintain a superstardom-family balance, which my character struggles with. My character is definitely swallowed up by fame, so to be able to talk in depth with these superstars about these things was really fortunate. That's the great thing about being an actor, is that people open up to you more intimately about these things I think. Does country music have a special way of communicating things musically? The lyrics in country music are incredibly important, and it's all about the story. I think it is an amazing opportunity for people to get a little bit emotional and hear a story that they can relate to. Some people can hear that story and it can put into words what they cannot do on their own. That happens to me often, where I'm listening to a song and it perfectly resonates with what I'm feeling at the time, and it helps you put things into perspective. Country music, especially, has a way of helping your understand your place in the collective human experience. The Golden Globes took place a couple of days ago. How do you feel about awards season in general? I think I enjoy it for what it is. They can provide a great opportunity for to help solidify a social message, such as the Me Too movement. Also, I was also lucky enough to work with my friend TimothĂŠe Chalamet who was nominated for his performance in Call Me By Your Name. Seeing someone that you know and respect, and seeing his face come on screen alongside Denzel Washington and Daniel Day Lewis because of an amazing performance he gave in a small independent movie, it really restores your faith in the Golden Globes. What did you learn about country music while making Forever My Girl that you didn't know before? I discovered a really honesty that exists within the country music industry. And I think that country fans really jump onto artists that they can really relate to. Integrity seems to be a really important factor in the hearts of country fans. And also, there are so many amazing songwriters and musicians that are working for other artists and on albums other than their own. They go unmentioned so often, and they really don't mind. They are in it because they love it, and I find that really inspiring. What did you do for New Year's? I went to San Pedro outside of Malaga, Spain, where my dad lives, and we started at the house where we watched the Spanish countdown, then we all went out as a family to celebrate in town. My dad is 72 and he was dancing like nobody's business. I was being inspired by my dad's ability to still wreck it up, even at 72! What are you most excited about in 2018? Career-wise, I'm really excited for people to see Forever My Girl, and I've also got some other things coming out like a TV show called Siren. Personally-wise, I'm really excited to see things evolving socially, like the way things are with the Me Too movement. Were there any moments off-camera during shooting that were extra special for you? I'd say getting to know Jessica Rothe (Josie) and Abby Ryder Fortson (Billy) was really amazing. Abby is such a hilarious genius, and Jessica is such an incredible woman. Jess and I went to a bunch of baseball games together, and we were kind of thrown into Atlanta together and our strong friendship off-screen made our on-screen chemistry so much more authentic. And just horsing around with Abby was hilarious because we would have a laugh and a joke whenever we could. I think sometimes when you're working on a movie, you leave with some really close friendships. I'm so grateful to have met these two crazy amazing people.

2018 UNDOUBTEDLY HAS MANY BIG THINGS IN STORE FOR US, ONE OF WHICH IS THE RISING STAR POWER OF ACTRESS AJIONA ALEXUS. WITH HER NEW UNIVERSAL MOVIE BREAKING IN WITH CO-STAR GABRIELLE UNION, HER STARRING ROLE IN SEASON TWO OF 13 REASONS WHY, AND HER UPCOMING APPEARANCE IN THE LIONSGATE FILM ACRIMONY ALONGSIDE TARAJI P. HENSON, 2018 IS GOING TO BE AN INCREDIBLE YEAR FOR AJIONA. WE RECENTLY CAUGHT UP WITH HER DURING HER PHOTO SHOOT AS BELLO'S NEWEST IT GIRL, AND WE WERE AS SMITTEN AS CAN BE. Skirt Luciana Balderrama | Jacket OTT | Swimwear Plumeria Jewelry AMYO You have an incredible sense of style. How would you say it’s evolved most over the past few years? Thanks! I live by the philosophy, that if you look good you feel 10X greater. My fashion has definitely evolved over the years. I'm getting more into haute couture fashion. However I still like to wear comfortable clothing and wear something based on how I'm feeling that day..that never goes out of style. How blown away were you by the explosive success of 13 Reasons Why, and do you think season 2 will be even better than season 1? It took me by surprise. I couldn't believe how many people related to and connected with the story line and character. Our generation needs a show like 13 reasons Why, is very important in our day and age, because It sheds light on topics that aren't always easy to discuss. I feel that season 2 is just as important as season 1. It's very important that people see all sides of the story, the aftermath and affect that each situation has on all of the characters. What was your favorite memory from shooting Breaking In with Gabrielle Union? My favorite memories were the intimate conversations we would have while in the hair and makeup trailer. Gab always tell some of the best stories. I enjoyed working along side of her and respect her for being such beautiful and down to earth person I could hang and laugh with her all day long. A new year is always a great opportunity to recalibrate our goals and direction. What’s on the top of your list in this regard? I'm always focused on out doing myself. I like to push the limits each year. Who inspired you most to become an actress? My parents are my inspiration. They've always supported my dreams and have been by my side since day 1. What would you consider to be your ultimate dream role to portray? I've always wanted to play an action role or super hero. Something very futuristic and different from anything else that's already been created, but it must have an amazing inspiring message behind it.
