❏ LIVERPOOL SCENE NOVEMBER IS A GREAT MONTH FOR LIVERPOOL’S GAY COMMUNITY WITH HOMOTOPIA OFFERING A FABULOUS ARRAY OF EVENTS. One such is Lady Windermere’s Fan Club at Bar Euro on Whitechapel on November 9th, it’s a cabaret night starring hunky Glaswegian Scott Agnew and New York drag artiste Bryan Murphy. Mr Agnew is a gay comedian who has been favourably compared to the “Big Yin” himself and is one of Scotland’s finest young comics. Bryan Murphy, whilst not having the most alluring of drag names, well, he hasn’t got a drag name at all, is a real glamour-puss and has appeared on the BBC’s Weakest Link drag specials twice. He’s a singer and comedian and is sure to bring some razzamatazz to the evening. The evening is hosted by Liverpool’s very own Doreen Kum Kwik. Tickets are £10 and are available at www.wildepromotions.com Liverpool’s gay scene has a new arrival in the shape of Destination,
With Andy
a three floored venue that aims to bring back the golden age of queer clubbing to Liverpool – you know, dancing with your top off, that kind of thing. It’s on Temple Street and is open 7 days a week with an eclectic music policy and a promise of plenty of live appearances. The Masquerade continues to please with its music quiz on a Saturday with the chance to win a £10 drinks voucher whilst that stalwart of the scene The Lisbon is now offering Thai food for a limited period – get them! Tutti Fruitti on Victoria Street is going a bit mad on Thursday’s with drinks at just 50p! One of the newer kids on the block, Tutti is open 7 days a week from 10pm – 4am. Not to be out done, Chicago’s, on the other side of the street, offers £10 door tax and then all your drinks free! Don’t you just love competition. Is it me or are there more gay students? Every year we get an influx of beautiful people and every year there are more of them, if I didn’t know better I’d think they were breeding – not that I’m complaining.
