Furry Friends Meet George & Maude
LOVED BY MATTHEW BUNN & TODD STAUFFACHERWhat breed is your pets, how old are they and how long have they been a part of your family?
George and Maude are Seal Point Siamese cats. George celebrated his 15th birthday on March 25. He has been with us since he was eight weeks old. Maude is about two years old, and we celebrate the coming home date of her adoption, which was May 15, 2023.
Siblings names, or are your pets only children?
George’s sister, Grace, went to wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge in April last year. We miss Grace terribly and believe she sent Maude to comfort and heal us.
When you travel do they travel with you?
George has made a couple of really big road trips, from Los Angeles to Iowa and Iowa to Artisan Lakes, and vocalized during each of those 20+ hour drives that he prefers home comforts over travel.
What is their favorite treat?
They love Inaba Churu lick’em sticks - particularly Chicken and Tuna.
What are a few amazing qualities about your furry best friends?
George is the most loving boy. He is very chatty, will respond when spoken to, and loves going under the covers and cuddling. George once was a finalist for CFO (Chief Feline Officer) in the Fussie Cat 2016 Pawsidential election contest. Despite having many toys, Maude loves one plain gray mouse the most. “Mouse” is Maude’s absolute favorite! She plays with him like she’s a Tampa Bay Lightning forward, and “Mouse” is the puck. She bats “Mouse” under our bar cabinet for at least 20 goals every night with pitiful cries for his retrieval.
WANT TO FEATURE YOUR PET?
Contact your Lifestyle Manager to be featured in the next edition of the Lifestyle Magazine. Answer a few questions about your furry, feathery, or scaly friend and share a couple pictures.

Bob & Colette Abt
The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager.
Why did you choose Esplanade at Artisan Lakes and how long have you lived here?
We lived next to Mickey and Minnie, Sea World, Universal, and Discover Cove. Once they started to build west and we had taken a vacation to Anna Marie Island… it was game over. We have been living in this “so much to offer” village of Artisan Lakes for a year and a half.
What Lifestyle programs are you most interested in?
Travel, parties, international events, and just having fun! We love all the events and activities the Lifestyle team offers.
Are you in a club or play any sports?
We are the Club Leaders of the “Fun with Friends Club!” Our club involves traveling to provide learning experiences, trying new cuisine, and to have fun with each other. It also includes dinner parties, themed events, raffle prizes, games, and much more!
What are your hobbies?
Bob loves to write and published many of his books. He is hoping to finish his newest book this year or next. Bob also loves to cook. Colette loves to walk and play all sorts of games. She too is a traveler.
What is the best advice you have ever received or given?
Never believe you are finished with learning. Also, try to make a difference in someone’s life. Be pure of heart, body, and mind. Be honest in the most difficult of situations, embrace honesty, demand respect and always return it. Listen to elders for they may offer insight that could change your life, or mind - even if it’s a fractional change.
Where is the most exciting place you’ve traveled to and what made it so memorable?
Colette and Bob have been all over the world. Bob was an active Action Officer in Germany at the Policy Level Headquarters, Army wide, and Logistics Chief of six Army Corps northeastern states. We have lived in wonderful locations all over the world.
Colette’s favorite country is Switzerland, and it is a picture of beauty. Bob’s is Venice. When the water taxi drops you off at the shore of Venice, it feels like you are in another time zone from about 2,000 years ago. Nothing has changed. You are in “awe” of not only the wondrous beauty, but also the experience of simply “time.”
Tell us something that might surprise people.
Bob is an accomplished writer. It has been his desire, drive and addiction. Bob says that Colette is the most perfect mother, wife, and human created by evolution or God, whichever you believe.
Anything else you’d like to share?
We are truly humbled to be in the same category as Wendy and Mike - the most recent “Member Spotlight” couple. They are the best of the best. We will let that statement standalone without embellishment. Bob’s mantle and signature as a writer is “Truth and Respect.” All writers have their own style. His is referred to as “EPISTLE” writing. Think of it as taking a trip to Chicago, by route of Tampa. That’s normal, but an epistle person would fly to St. Louis, to Portland, to Fairbanks, to Detroit, and maybe reach his/ her destination of Chicago.
How to Clean Wine Glasses Properly
FEATURED IN HOMES AND GARDENS!
National Manager of Food, Beverage & Culinary Experience, Patrick Scully, was recently featured in Homes and Gardens, where he shared tips and best practices for keeping your wine glasses in pristine condition!
TIP! – Use a coffee filter to polish your glasses! – Patrick shares, “This is a hack we use in restaurants and hotels because coffee filters won’t leave any lint and absorb any leftover water. Even lint-free microfiber rags can leave fabric particles.”
Top Tips for Hand Drying Wine Glasses:
» Hold the glass by the stem versus the bowl so you don’t smudge the glass when wiping the exterior.
» If there is no stem – or it’s time to dry the inside – have a microfiber towel in the hand that is holding the bowl/glass if it’s not large enough to cover your hand.
» After drying, ensure there’s no residue by holding the glasses up to a light.
» After your glasses are dry, place them over a bowl of hot water and allow the steam to enter the glass and kiss the outside. Just be careful not to burn yourself. Then, give them a quick polish.
Ultimately, properly cleaning wine glasses is about more than just hygiene and aesthetics, it’s essential to preserve the flavor of each wine. “You need to clean your wine glasses after each use, especially when switching between different wines. This gets rid of any lingering residue that can change the flavor,” explains Patrick. “Different shapes, sizes, or materials can enhance or diminish the
subtle flavors and aromas. Like how to store wine in your kitchen, quality glasses deserve quality care so true lovers of wine can fully savor each varietal.”

Wheels in the Morning Club
Written by John Wright, Group Leader, Wheels in the Morning ClubAgear head raised in Pontiac, Missouri, my love of cars came at an early age. My dad was a mechanic, and his brother was a mechanic and body man for a local race car driver. I remember as a kid going to the races on the weekends. When I was 10, my parents bought me a go-cart. I never won a race but it sure was fun! My first car was a green and white ‘54 Ford 2-door hardtop. Shortly after getting married in 1965, I bought a ‘66 GTO in mission beige, which I sold and ordered a new black ‘70 Chevelle. Later, I bought a ‘73 yellow Corvette, a couple of hippy vans, motorcycles, then an ‘81 DeLorean.
In 1985, while visiting my dad in Florida, I bought a ‘64 T-Bird white convertible and my wife and I drove it back to Missouri. I stored it for 20 years then restored it in 2005. In the ‘90s, I purchased a ‘35 Ford Slantback Sedan. It was far from being stock, chopped 6 inches and street rodded. This car was always driven, never trailed, and I had it for 16 years. My wife Flora and I did a lot of Midwest car shows and won awards. I sold the cars just prior to moving to Esplanade almost eight years ago. I thought my car craze was over, but then I bought

Wheels in the Morning Club meets the first Friday of the month at 9 a.m. at the Resort Amenity Center. We also do offsite trips. We hope you will join us! Email johnbcruzn@aol.com for more information!
