August cooked up some culinary events including a social for National Ice Cream Sandwich Day and Azario’s first Mac Down Mac & Cheese contest! Our Bowling Club is off to a fantastic start, and we have an interest in more clubs every day! Our long-awaited Euchre Club starts off in September, see details on page 14! We hosted our Coffee & Conversation in July with a special guest, our Food & Beverage Manager, Chris McDonald. Men’s Happy Hour, a fun and relaxing group, needs one or two fellas to run this as a club! Fall is for family gatherings and getting together with friends! We are so excited to be gearing up for a festive season of fun! In case you may have missed some of our summer programming, in early July we jumped in with both feet for our first Dive-In Movie at our Resort Pool on Montello Way. Later that month we hosted another event in our Cooking & Cocktails Series, Grillin’ & Chillin’ which sold out in a matter of hours!
Your dedicated team hosts Monthly Member Meetings so that you can get the very most out of the Esplanade Lifestyle here at Azario. The informative Esplanade 101, sharing all the keys to the Esplanade Lifestyle, Neighborhood News, a community update with your CAM and last but not least, Coffee & Conversation with your Lifestyle Manager (and sometimes special guests) to discuss upcoming programming, brainstorm ideas and enjoy breakfast on us!

A little-known fact about Jamie is that he competed in BMX Freestyle as a teen. He was a four-time champion in the Flatland Freestyle division. BMX Freestyle gave him high-level competition and allowed Jamie to travel all over the country. Having traveled all over, he says it feels good to be back in Florida, doing what he loves at such an amazing club and community as this.

Jamie West Wayne Walden
is hometown of Savannah, GA is where Jamie began his career in golf as an Assistant Golf Professional at a local golf course. Troon Golf later recruited him to work for The Club at Savannah Harbor, where he hosted the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf Tournament as the Director of Golf. Working with Troon for 20 years, Jamie was able to move to different states and oversee various types of operations. At the core of it all, he was fulfilling his passion for meeting new people, taking care of Members and guests, and simply being around the game of golf. One location which had the most significant impact on his life was Rio Mar Country Club in Puerto Rico. As Director of Country Club Operations, Jamie gained extensive experience managing a complex operation while the club rebuilt from the devastation of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. While he is proud of what they accomplished, his most significant accomplishment in Puerto Rico was meeting his beautiful wife and building their family. They have four children between the two of them.

Wayne combines eight years of pickleball teaching with his 2018 SSIPA national ranking of #2 to provide Members with a highlyqualified learning experience. He is a published author on pickleball with his book on understanding and mastering techniques to increase your skill level on the court. Wayne was certified by International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) in 2017 as a Level II Instructor. Additionally, as a founding member of the Professional Pickleball Federation (PPF) in 2017, he was involved with many of the earlier decisions in pickleball as it evolved into the fastest-growing sport in the USA. In 2018-2019 Wayne was featured at the World Pickleball Summit as one of the top instructors in the USA. He played for team Paddletek for three years. He is also a past USAPA Ambassador for pickleball. Wayne began his racquet sports attraction with tennis. He has competed and taught across the country and his love for this sport began in high school and continued throughout his adult life. He will be bringing his teaching skills on the tennis court to Members with fun-filled clinics and league play for all levels. Youth programs will also be on the schedule. Wayne has been the pickleball and tennis professional at the Marriott properties, Civana Resort, and Victorium Sports Complex in Arizona. Other clubs and organizations around the country, include, Palo Alto, CA; St Louis, MO; San Francisco, CA; New Orleans, LA; Tucson, AZ; and Denver, CO.

nlike most Members living in Azario, Bill and Jen Champion, originally from Omaha, Nebraska, followed their children to Florida, where their boys, Nathan and Nolan, attended IMG Academy in West Bradenton before heading to college. After moving from West Bradenton and living in Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch for two and half years, the Champions moved into their Azario home in December 2021.

The Champions use this as their motivation to welcome new neighbors into the community. “Azario is not a neighborhood filled with residents, but a community filled with profoundly thoughtful and caring friends,” Bill expressed.
Bill and Jen are CEO and COO of a healthcare marketing firm headquartered in Omaha. Still a few years from retirement, the Champions actively search for opportunities to show their unconditional support for our country and military. They honor our veterans and their families every chance they get and passionately support no-kill animal rescues.
Jen and Bill believe they are fortunate to have met so many amazing people so quickly. “We hold a special place in our hearts for Masood and Tammy Kheradmand,” Jen said. “They were the first people we met, and they both made us feel more welcome than in any other place we previously lived.”
If there was ever an example of “love where you live,” Bill and Jen believe they have found it right here in Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch.
