Letter From the Lifestyle Team
HAYLEY SMITH YOUR LIFESTYLE MANAGER
Welcome Spring!
Spring has sprung and we are ready to jump into a fun calendar of events. Join us for our next Signature Event: Esplanade in Bloom on April 20. It will be an afternoon affair adorned with blooming flowers, joyful festivities, and the spirit of renewal.
As our community grows, so does our list of Memberrun clubs, concierge offerings, and opportunities to engage with your fellow Esplanade Members. While we do our best to spread events throughout the month, it is inevitable that we have some overlap. Please don’t let this keep you from starting up a new club! We are currently looking for a volunteer to start a pickleball club. Please contact me if you are interested.
What’s spring without baseball? Get your ticket today to the Pirates vs. Orioles spring training day and enjoy some peanuts and crackerjacks on March 14. We will also be gazing at the heavens during Astronomy Night,
courtesy of the Sidewalk Science Center. They will provide telescopes and education about what is hiding in the night skies.
Of course, our monthly favorites are still on the calendar. Sign up for Bingo, Yappy Hour, and First Friday parties while staying informed by attending our monthly community meetings - Neighborhood News and Coffee & Conversation.
We are also welcoming National Manager of Food, Beverage & Culinary Experience, Patrick Scully back to The Venue for the next Cooking & Cocktail Series installment to learn two ways to prepare scallops on April 29.

In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager.
Josee and Barry moved to Esplanade at The Heights in late October 2023. They found their new home driving around the area and were drawn to Mt. Tumalo. They are both from northern Virginia and lived in Florida for nearly three years, enjoying the beaches and weather while searching for a home. Barry is retired from the government and is a Realtor and drone pilot. He is also getting back into the game of golf and loves going for scenic motorcycle rides on his Harley Davidson.
Josee works from home and enjoys Qigong, Tai Chi and all things mind and body. They also have a beautiful lab mix called Ginger who loves to play and meet new doggie friends. They enjoy the outdoors and walking Mt. Tumalo, riding bicycles, and are currently dancing at Arthur Murray. Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center
Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC) is a local nonprofit with an outreach center in Sarasota and satellite offices in Venice, North Port, and Arcadia that serve survivors of domestic and sexual violence. SPARCC’s mission is to provide a safe haven and promote empowerment, awareness, and social change to end domestic and sexual violence.
They offer resources such as a shelter, operating 365 days a year, a 24-hour crisis helpline, counseling, hospital and courthouse accompaniment, legal services, support groups, empowerment programs and community education. SPARCC interfaces with both law enforcement and local hospitals.
In addition, they also provide service for children. SPARCC’s Child Advocate uses a variety of counseling, art therapy, and play to help children communicate and feel comfortable. The goal of this program is to provide relief from emotional distress for children who have experienced violence in their home.
Esplanade at The Heights Member, Betty Quagliotto has volunteered for this organization since 2022. Betty and her husband retired to Florida in the fall of 2022, and she wanted to give back to the community and to a non-profit agency that provides hope and
healing for victims of domestic violence. Betty volunteers with the auxiliary committee, and the team volunteers with annual events.
She also serves with the raffle team both with the SPARCC Holiday Luncheon and the runway Fashion Show. This included obtaining raffle items from $150 to $300, assisting with the decorations, raffle baskets, and aiding the event coordinators. The staff and the volunteers of SPARCC are a wonderful group of people who help bring a new beginning to women and children that are in need of a brighter tomorrow.
Interested in supporting SPARCC? Give back by attending SPARCC on the Runway: Season of Sarasota on Friday, March 22 at 10 a.m. at the Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota Club. This event will feature a fabulous luncheon; amazing designer deals at the boutique; and designer fashion on the runway.
