Letter From the Lifestyle Team

Summer is on the Way!

Sweet summertime is almost here at Esplanade Lake Club! As the temperature rises, we hope you are all spending time poolside by our brand-new Resort pool and enjoying the best of Lake Club.

Join us in welcoming a new addition to our Resort team, our Executive Chef, Marcella Marinho. We are excited to share that our Bahama Bar and Toasted Café should be opening soon. Stay tuned to your emails as we will be celebrating the opening of both with our second Signature Event theme of the year, Havana Nights!

We would like to kindly remind everyone that as our community grows it is extremely important to register for all activities as well as cancel any registrations in a timely manner. This allows us to accurately anticipate the total attendance and ensure the most enjoyable lifestyle programming for our Members! Sometimes activities and events require a participation minimum, so we also want to make sure we are meeting certain guidelines to host these activities.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Resort team with any questions or suggestions you may have. We are always looking to bring new things to enhance your Lifestyle here at Lake Club! We’ve had many Members make some great suggestions for events, and I am happy to say you will see some of those added to our calendar this year!

Furry Friends Meet Jeter & Marley

LOVED BY THE HURLEY FAMILY

What are your pets’ breed, age and birthday?

Jeter, the brown dog, is a 12-year-old Ridgeback mix, born on December 23, 2010. Marley, the black dog, is a 5-year-old Corgi Lab mix, born on September 5, 2017.

What are your pets’ favorite treats?

Jeter loves all treats, but especially things that are chicken flavored and Marley loves spoonfuls of peanut butter.

Tell us something special about your pets?

Jeter is a rescue dog and we got him at 6 weeks old. We chose him from the litter because he has two white front paws that look like socks and has green eyes. He is very sweet and loves any stuffed lamb toy. Jeter is also super gentle with any animal he encounters, especially baby bunnies. Marley is a rescue dog from Puerto Rico, abandoned during Hurricane Maria and flown to Naples’s Humane Society. She was a part of a litter named after Santa’s reindeer (Comet), but since she is so loving we wanted to rename her Marley.

Anything else you want us to know about your pets?

Marley and Jeter love to go on walks and explore the dog park. Hopefully they can make some new friends this year in the community!

Leora Dubrovsky

The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager.

Leora was born in Israel where she met her husband while at boarding school. In 1968, she came to America as an exchange student graduating with a double major in psychology and math. While in school, she taught full time. In 1973, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard. Together they raised two brilliant children. Her son heads the VR department at Meta. Her daughter earned a Master’s Degree and then managed her office for almost 30 years. Leora and Richard have eight wonderful grandchildren. The oldest is married.

In 1975, Leora decided to open a retail department store called Little People’s Palace for infants and toddlers. At the time, it was one of the top 200 stores nationwide. Due to great demand, she opened a second store, Bigger People’s Palace, that focused on older children.

After 18 years in the retail business, she decided to change career paths and further her education in real estate. She hired a business coach through the Mike Ferry Organization (MFO) where she became a master in NLP (neuro linguistic programming) and business. After 10 years of training, she herself became a real estate coach with the MFO organization. Working with major real-estate companies, Leora saw that their business model was profit first, clients second.

This prompted Leora to create her own company that put the needs of her clients first. In 2000, she opened her first real estate office, Leora Dubrovsky Realty Group. The goals were to educate buyers and sellers and help them reach their final goals through ethics and honesty. Leora’s clients remained loyal over the years. She began working with their children and then their grandchildren to help them with home buying and selling.

At present time, many of Leora’s friends and past clients are looking to relocate to Florida. They encouraged Leora to open an office in Florida. In 2020, both Richard and Leora earned their Florida Broker’s Licenses and opened Leora1 Realty. With over 40 years of experience in the real estate industry, working with buyers and sellers, and coaching agents around the country, Leora is now working with Mayor Anderson in Fort Myers to redevelop the area to increase commerce and revenue by offering incentives to investors.

After examining all that the State of Florida has to offer, Leora and her husband decided to focus on the West Coast. They were the second purchasers at Esplanade Lake Club. Nothing was constructed at the time other than the outside of future models.

They saw the benefits of being near the airport, shopping, and of course, the clean environment. The complex concept was inviting.

Leora and Richard’s passion is playing bridge. Together they compete nationwide and internationally in bridge tournaments and help teach the game at Esplanade Lake Club.

Leora’s goal is to help new owners relocate to Esplanade Lake Club and make it an easy transition. If you know of anyone who needs help in the area, reach out to Leora at 732-239-3672.

FITNESS

Pickleball/Tennis Exercise for Increased Strength & Stability

Multi directional lunges are a compound movement that involves multiple joints and muscles making it an extremely functional exercise that is excellent for all fitness levels. It works the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, calves, core, and inner thighs. It can also help improve balance. Lunges can increase reaction time and functional stability when reaching for that baseline shot or receiving a volley to perform a dink to the other side of the net.

FRONT LUNGE

Begin with feet shoulder width apart, take a step forward with the right leg and drop the back knee down towards the floor. Be sure that the front knee does not extend past your toe and your back knee is in line with your hips and shoulders bending towards the floor. Drop down as far as you are comfortable, but do not let the front knee go past 90 degrees. Stand back up concentrating on the power coming from your front leg, foot firmly planted returning back up to a standing position. Repeat with your left leg forward and your right knee dropping down towards the floor.

SIDE LUNGE

Begin with feet shoulder width apart, take a step to the side with the right leg. Keep the left leg straight and drop your hips behind as you bend the right knee. Drop down as far as you are comfortable, but do not let the front knee go past 90 degrees or extend over the toes. Push up to standing position with the power coming from your right leg and bring the feet back together in a standing position. Repeat with the left leg stepping sideways and your hips dropping back as your right knee bends.

REVERSE LUNGE

Begin with feet shoulder width apart, take a step back with the right leg and drop the back knee down towards the floor keeping

it in line with your hips and shoulders. Make sure your front knee does not extend past the toes. Keep the chest lifted and drop down as far as you are comfortable. Stand back up and return your right leg back up to standing position.

Cuban Sandwich

The Cubano, or Cuban Sandwich, came to Florida along with Cuban immigrants, in the 19th century and quickly became widely popular in the state. Prior to this, versions of the Cuban have been recorded in pre-colonial Cuba where yucca was used in place of bread and often the filling was fish or bird meat. It took the arrival of the Spanish, who introduced ham and pork, for the Cuban we know and love today to be born.

To make an authentic Cuban sandwich, it really requires Cuban bread which has been baked with a palmetto leaf on top; however, Ciabatta or French bread will absolutely suffice.

DIRECTIONS

1. Slice the bread in half and spread yellow mustard on the inside of the bread.

2. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each half.

3. Place a slice of sweet, cured ham on one half of the bread.

4. Place some mojo marinated pork on the other half of the bread.

5. On one half of the bread, place thickly cut pickles then close up the sandwich.

6. Place the Cuban sandwich on a lightly greased griddle. Take a heavy skillet and place it on top of the sandwich so the weight can press the sandwich down.

7. When the bottom begins to turn crisp, turn the sandwich over and repeat.

Clean Earth Challenge

The National Wildlife Federation and Johnson Outdoors have teamed up to inspire people to get outdoors and take simple conservation action to help clean up our planet.

Get started by taking the Clean Earth Challenge! It’s as simple as picking up trash on your morning walk, at your favorite beach or local park. Or you can join with friends, family, neighbors, classmates and co-workers in a community effort to help make our planet a healthier, happier place.

Our goal is to collect one million pieces of trash and debris that litter our beautiful land, oceans and waterways. This pollution has a devastating effect on the health of our ecosystems, wildlife and the planet. By taking the Clean Earth Challenge, you help improve the health of our environment. Every piece collected counts!
