Letter From the Lifestyle Team

KAITLYN ALDRIDGE YOUR LIFESTYLE MANAGER

Make it an Esplanade Season to Remember!

As the year winds down, it is so nice to reflect on what a wonderful year it has been. We have seen so many Members move into their beautiful homes, and we've had so many enjoyable times together this year from Signature Events to Member Minglers and excursions. I love seeing our Members participating in all that we have to offer. With that said, the Holiday Season is here and it is for family, friends and fun!

Your dedicated team has a full calendar of exciting and festive events sure to keep you in the spirit of the holidays! You can look forward to our final Signature Event of the year, It’s a Wonderful Lifestyle, as well as our Friendsgiving social and even some pet friendly fun. Be sure to be on the look out for the Holiday Concert on the Lawn featuring the Divas for an entertaining family-friendly holiday show!

As many have seen, we have made significant progress on our Resort Amenity Center, and we cannot wait to have you all enjoying that beautiful facility.

I'd like to kindly remind everyone of the importance of both registering for activities and cancelling your registrations if you are no longer able to attend, in a timely manner. This allows us to accurately anticipate total attendance and ensure the most enjoyable lifestyle programming for our Members! Sometimes activities require a participation minimum, so we also want to make sure we are meeting certain guidelines to host these activities.

Lastly, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or suggestions you may have. We're always looking to bring new things to enhance your Lifestyle here at Lake Club! We've had many Members make some great suggestions for events, so we look forward to seeing those on the calendar this coming year.

Kaitlyn

NOV/DEC 2022 ESPLANADE LIFESTYLE 3

Lake Club Team

From Sales and construction to Lifestyle and HOA, the united team here at Esplanade Lake Club is so excited to see the amazing progress we have made. We cannot wait to see all of our Members enjoying the beautiful Resort Amenity Center (coming soon), grabbing a beverage at the Bahama Bar, playing bunco in the card room and getting that work out in, plus so much more.

“The amount of excitement I feel knowing all the fun we are going to have here is crazy! I know the Members are going to just love it.”

- Kaitlyn Aldridge, Lifestyle Manager

“I am very excited to see the Resort Amenity Center completed. It will be a great place for all our Members to enjoy the resort style living that we have worked so hard to build for them. It will be a nice sight to see when those boat docks are full of happy Members!”

- Danny Antonell, Taylor Morrison Construction Superintendent

“The views from the Bahama Bar alone are going to be spectacular - you can’t beat that lake view! I cannot wait to see our Members out there enjoying themselves; it will be great!”

Furry Friends Meet Kobe Kai & Oscar Mayer

What are your pets' names, breeds, ages and birthdays?

Our favorite breed is rescue. Kobe Kai is a one-year-old Australian cattle dog and Catahoula Leopard dog mix with a January 1 birthday. Oscar Mayer is 80% Yorkie and Chihuahua mix. We were so sure there was some Dachshund pre-DNA results that we’d named him Oscar Mayer. Oops!

What are your pets' favorite treats and pastimes?

Kobe Kai loves any meat that we are eating (tastes better from our hand) and “playing” with any canine or human that’s ready for some serious playtime. Oscar Mayer enjoys seared steak, mediumrare, right off the grill, cuddling in human laps and getting his belly scratched.

Tell us one special thing about your pet?

Kobe Kai is our accountability coach to ensure we go jogging with him at least three times a week. He begins jumping like an antelope whenever we begin putting on running gear. Oscar Mayer lived in the Everglades pre-rescue. He is a serious survivor and very scrappy.

Anything else you want us to know about your pet?

These new brothers were both rescued this year out of Fort Myers rescue groups and have quickly become best buddies. They’re extremely grateful for their safe “furever” homes where they are spoiled rotten … as they should be!

Salute to Veterans

In honor of Veterans Day this year, below features a couple of our very own veterans that shared their stories with us. If you happen to see them around the community, we hope that you take the time to thank them for their service. If you or someone you know you would like to be honored, please contact your Lifestyle Manager to be added to our community veterans list.

Mark Mishear

What Military Branch did you serve?

United States Army. Enlisted in 1976.

Do you recall your first and last day in service?

The first day of basic training was crazy, hectic and trying to understand what you got yourself into. The last day was sad. Retiring from a great institution was difficult and leaving your buddies was even harder.

What years/how many years did you serve? 20 years.

What was your job/assignment?

Entered the Army as a Private (E-1) Combat Engineer and retired as an Engineer Officer (Asst S-3 was my last assignment).

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

It was an honor and privilege to serve this great country.

Patrick Martone

What Military Branch did you serve?

United States Air Force (USAF). Commissioned on May 22, 1977.

Do you recall your first day in service?

The first day of my military service was the day I graduated from college and got my BSEE degree from UMASS. I was sworn in as a USAF second lieutenant on that same day. One week later I was a fulltime graduate student and got my MSEE degree in December 1978.

What years/how many years did you serve?

1977-1985 as an Officer, and 28 years as USAF federal employee.

What was your job/assignment?

I’ve had various amazing jobs as an engineer in USAF, as a regular Officer, reserve Officer, and a federal employee. I spent my last 10 years as a GS-15, Division Director of Engineering for the E-3 AWACS fleet.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I’ve been blessed with an outstanding military and civilian engineering career, and was fortunate to always be surrounded by outstanding, dedicated, and patriotic people. However, the greatest highlight of my life has been meeting and marrying my amazing wife, Denise!

BE THE NEXT SPOTLIGHT!

The Members of our community are truly what makes this a wonderful place to live. In each Lifestyle Magazine issue, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing Members we have living in Esplanade Lake Club. If you would like to be featured, please contact your Lifestyle Manager.

10 Ways to Attract & Enjoy Birds this Fall A

utumn brings dramatic changes in the bird life of any North American backyard. As many of the feathered residents that visit your yard during summer go south, migrants from regions to the north will pass through. Some will make brief stopovers while others will spend the winter.

You can make the most of this seasonal avian passage by making some adjustments to your property that will attract greater numbers of different birds in the fall—and help them thrive.

1. Provide running water

2. Leave sugar water feeders out

3. Clean out birdhouses

4. Create brush piles

5. Plant evergreens

6. Increase the number of feeders

7. Move the action closer to the house

8. Provide foods for insect eaters

9. Bring bird sounds indoors

10. Protect birds against collisions

Visit nwf.org/Magazines/National-Wildlife/2010/Attract-Fall-Birds to learn more about these simple steps to maximize the number and variety of birds living in your yard this autumn.
