It’s my most favorite time of year. For those who don’t know, I am originally from New England so I am a huge fan of crisp fall air, the changing of the leaves, pumpkins, apple cider and sweater weather! Although fall is a bit different here in sunny Southwest Florida, I still like to get into the fall spirit by decorating my house for the season and of course enjoying some delicious apple pie even if it's poolside and 80 degrees! We are always looking for more participation in our Social Clubs and Interest Groups! If you would like to be a part of poker, mahjong, canasta, hand & foot, and so much more, be sure to reach out to be added to our lists! If you would like to start a new Social Club or Interest Group, I’d love to hear from you!
Happy Fall Y all!

editation is the habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect thoughts. Did you know meditation can be used to increase awareness of yourself and your surroundings? Meditation is often used as a way to quiet the mind, thus reducing stress and developing a deeper level of concentration. If you are interested in meditation practice, there are a few tips and tricks that can help you on your journey to mindful meditation.
1. Download the Headspace or Calm Apps on your smart phones and set an alarm to schedule time to meditate.
3. If you're a beginner, try meditating for short periods of time at first, as long stints of meditation could be challenging. When starting anything new, taking it slow can help you build confidence. According to research on establishing healthy habits, people should aim for small and manageable behavior changes because failure can be discouraging. If you're getting into meditation, consider starting with just one or two minutes a day. Over time, you can work your way up to longer sessions.
2. Start early. Try to meditate first thing in the morning. Morning meditation can be a nice way to start the day — you’re refreshed, awake, and on track for a mindful day.
4. Be kind to yourself. Some days will be easier than others. At its root, meditation is about learning how to treat yourself with kindness no matter what you may be experiencing at any given moment. Just like exercising, some days will feel easier than others. This could be due to the amount of sleep you had the night before or the amount of stress you were under that week. Remember that it's a meditation practice, so it's not always going to be perfect.

Farmer Mike’s is back with a new corn maze for this year that they promise is one of the most fun and challenging designs they’ve done yet. Spread out over 15 years, it’s sure to be a blast whether you decide to attempt it during the day or up the ante and go at night with a flashlight. The maze also features a large, haunted portion (10 acres alone), so get ready to be scared!
First, you’ll find plenty of fresh produce. Depending on the season, they offer a wide variety of fresh vegetables like squash, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower, greens, herbs, potatoes and Florida avocados to name a few. Plus, there’s plenty of fresh fruits including apples, pears, bananas, melons, berries and citrus fruits, as well as fresh flowers like snapdragons and sunflowers. Many of which you can pick yourself in their famous “U-Pick” fields. However, that’s just the beginning of the deliciousness you’ll find there. In the farm store, you’ll also find other treats like local honey, freshly made pasta sauces, homemade bread, jams, jellies, dips, cheeses and salad dressings. They also have a café on-site that serves breakfast and lunch seven days a week.
F all is just around the corner, which means it’s time to start planning your apple and pumpkin picking trips. If you’re in the Southwest Florida region, you definitely want to schedule a trip to Farmer Mike’s U-Pick in Bonita Springs because this farm is so much more than just apples and pumpkins.
In addition to the Farm Store and Fresh Harvest Café, they’ll also have a pumpkin patch for picking your own pumpkins, as well as Paint Your Own Pumpkins.
The purpose of this month is to promote the health benefits of yoga and inspire a healthy lifestyle.
