Letter From the Lifestyle Team

Happy Fall Everyone!

If you are anything like me, you cannot wait for the fall season. I know, it’s still 90 degrees outside and a bit too warm to be considered “sweater weather,” but there is an undeniable change in the atmosphere that happens during this time of year when everyone starts to get ready for the holiday season and that is why this is my favorite time of year. Although the fall season in sunny Southwest Florida doesn’t look the same as it may up north, I still like to get into the fall spirit by decorating my house for the season, burning all of the fall scented candles, enjoying one or two pumpkin spice lattes, and most importantly, gearing up for the start of football season!

I’m looking forward to getting to know each of our Members better as I hit the ground running here at Lake Club. I am so excited for all of the activities and events that I have planned for you this fall.

In September, join us for Labor Day weekend activities, an NFL season kickoff tailgate, and a Fall Member Mingler. For October, get ready for some spooky fun as we will be hosting our Howl-O-Ween dog party for our furry friends, trunk-or-treat, and pumpkin decorating! Your Lifestyle team has also planned our third Signature Event, which will be held on Friday, October 27. Get ready to peer though the

kaleidoscopic lens of life in vivid color. Flashy entertainment, splashy drinks, and rich flavors are sure to make this event pop!

Our Lifestyle here at Esplanade Lake Club will continue to change as we mold our programming around our Members’ interests and needs. We always encourage new club and event ideas. If there is a Social Club or Interest Group you would like to create or an off-site event you would like to attend, don’t hesitate to reach out to me to share your ideas.

As you review the upcoming activities, please note it is important to register for each event so proper accommodations can be made. We encourage your participation in our Lifestyle events so that you have the opportunity to meet and mingle with your fellow neighbors and Lifestyle team! We look forward to all of the fun, exciting times ahead and creating memories that will last a lifetime. If you have any questions about our Lifestyle program, you’re more than welcome to contact me at any time.

Morgan Bradford

LIFESTYLE CONCIERGE

Morgan started working at Lake Club in March of 2023. She is majoring in Hospitality & Tourism Management and after graduation hopes to work as a wedding planner or interior designer. Morgan has been a wonderful addition to the team here at Esplanade Lake Club since the day she started.

When we asked other team members how they felt about Morgan, this is what they had to say:

“She is Member-centric, caring, humorous, and a team player.” - Tony Sahyoun, Resort Manager

“Morgan has such a positive outlook on everything, everyday!”Stacy Logue, Wellness & Sport Courts Manager

“I’m looking forward to having Morgan on my Lifestyle team; I’ve only heard good things about her from the other staff and our Members. She’s been so helpful in getting me up to speed on everything since I’ve started. Go Morgan!” - Elizabeth Barroso, Lifestyle Manager

Interest Groups & Social Clubs

Interest Groups and Social Clubs create a great opportunity for Members to learn a new skill, make friends, or share a hobby with your neighbors who have similar interests, such as a canasta card club, a walking club, or bocce ball club. Interest Groups and Social Clubs will be Member-managed and self-supporting. Your Lifestyle Manager will assist in coordinating when and where is available for your Social Club or Interest Group to meet at The Venue.

All groups and clubs must be open to any Member of the community who is interested in joining. For more information about creating a Social Club or Interest Group, please contact your Lifestyle Manager, Elizabeth Barroso at Elizabeth.Barroso@TeamEsplanade.com

Furry Friends

Meet Mosaic & Watson

Mosaic is called Mosey for short because we love normal human sounding names for dogs. Mosey is a three-year-old Great Dane rescue. She’s a Merle Mantle colored Great Dane, which typically turns a few heads when we’re out together. At 116 pounds she’s full grown; perhaps a little too far along these days! Mosey is the smartest, most easy going, and lovely dog we’ve ever had in our house. We’re pretty sure she speaks English, and would never, ever even think of leaving our side! Now that we have the puppy in the house, we both feel like Mosey is being a bit “judgey” with us when he gets things she doesn’t! Mosey’s superpower is knowing where every ball is hiding in our house and standing next to whichever couch is hiding the one she wants, staring at us until we get on the floor and help her retrieve it!

Watson is a three-month-old Great Dane (full European parentage) which is code for he should be quite large! He’s a Blue Harlequin color Dane and weighed 36 pounds recently when he got his last set of shots. Watson seems to be quite smart, though who really knows at this stage. He has quickly picked up on ringing the bells to go outside, and loves laying in the sun by the lake. He often rings the bells simply so he can go plop down in the sun and roll around a bit! We’re working hard on training him to stay away from the lake and any dinosaurs he might see there, at least until he’s big enough to eat his own dinosaurs! He starts training next week; however, Jenn already has him sitting and “waiting” for a treat. We’re trying to work on shake but that hasn’t gone too well so far, perhaps that is user error not remembering how to train that skill! So far Watson is the perfect brother for Mosey and they love to wrestle, play tug, and a good game of mouth wrestling!

Watson is fitting into our home very nicely and we’re glad that we’ve added him to our crew, except every night between 10 - 10:30 p.m. when he runs around our room barking and biting anything and everything. We can’t WAIT until he learns to do proper “zoomies” outside. We’re quite tired of baby shark time!

One of the first things that attracted us to Esplanade was the open dog policy and the early planning around dog parks inside the community. The Bark Park was where we met our first neighbors before we even moved into our new home! Once we moved in, we were rewarded with a myriad of dogs of all shapes and sizes, and it is the main way we’ve met most of our new neighbors thus far! We’re super excited for more new neighbors to arrive and for cooler weather so we can get the big girl, and the soon to be big boy, out for some fun tearing up their favorite Bark Park!

Creating a Bee Garden

Bees are pollinators and incredibly important wildlife. Here are four things you can do in your yard or other garden spaces to support native bees: 1) Plant Natives; 2) Reduce the Size of Your Lawn; 3) Stop Using Pesticides; and 4) Offer a Nesting Habitat.
