Letter From the Lifestyle Team AMBER ELLIS YOUR RESORT MANAGER
Happy Holidays! As the Holiday Season approaches, your Lifestyle team is excited to share our plans for November and December, ensuring a warm and festive atmosphere within our community. We are overjoyed to welcome new Members to Tradition and are thankful for each of you and what you bring to the community to make it a special place for everyone. Did you know that our programming is based on eight dimensions of wellness? Each month, we add events that target at least one of these areas: Spiritual, Emotional, Environmental, Financial, Physical, Intellectual, Social, and Occupational Wellness. Our upcoming Musical Bingo and Friendsgiving events in November seek to support Social Wellness by providing the opportunity for friends and neighbors to develop positive connections. Our Health & Wellness Seminar in December seeks to support Physical Wellness by providing Members resources to reach optimal health. A visit to the Regional History Center in Fort Pierce supports Intellectual Wellness, an opportunity for Members to learn something new and think critically about the history and future of our area. If you have any ideas for events, questions, or concerns, please contact your Lifestyle team. We are dedicated to making this Holiday Season special for you and providing Members with new opportunities to live their best, active lifestyle. Thank you for choosing Esplanade to call home.

al grew up in Juan Lacaze, Uruguay, and moved to Florida in 2002. She has been married to her husband, Craig, for 20 years. They have two children, ages 18 and 23, and two fur babies named Luna and Ginny (yes, those are Harry Potter references!). Val loves to travel and has been to many places around the world. Her next trip will be to find a wonderful place to retire (in the far future, do not worry). In her free time, you can find Val at the beach. Her favorite beach is Pepper Park because of the cool reefs you can find there. Another place you can find her at is HEW Fitness where she goes “to burn off the crazy.” She goes every morning at 6 a.m. before work and on days off. Go Val! Labor Day is Val’s work-aversary with Taylor Morrison. She has been with the company for five years. She loves her job and looks forward to serving our Esplanade Members for years to come.

Furry Friends Meet Emmy, Zoe & Kiwi
LOVED BY JILL FINDER & PETER GOLD Meet three of Esplanade’s newest and most cherished Members, Emmy, Zoe and Kiwi, who hold a special place in the hearts of Jill Finder and Peter Gold. What makes their story even more heartwarming is that all three of these feline companions are rescues. Emmy had quite the journey to find her forever home. Back in January 2022, she was a mere three-pound, fiery, feral kitten fighting for survival. Building trust with Emmy proved to be a challenging endeavor, taking months of patience and care. Slowly but surely, she began to open up, allowing love and affection into her life. Today, she has transformed into an absolute cuddle bug, a truly content kitty, and a source of endless amusement, as her endearing antics captured in the pictures attest. Emmy not only adores the company of Zoe and Kiwi, but also relishes playful moments spent chasing balls around the house and, occasionally, asserting her authority over Jill. As any animal lover knows, these pint-sized feline friends are brimming with personality, making every day an adventure. At Esplanade, life for these three feline pals is a joyous affair. They love lounging on their screened lanai, all the while trying to make sense of those towering sandhill cranes that wander by. It’s a delightful life indeed for Emmy, Zoe and Kiwi in their loving home at Esplanade. Contact your Lifestyle Manager to be featured in the next edition of the Lifestyle Magazine. Answer a few questions about your furry, feathery, or scaly friend and share a couple pictures. Don’t have a furry family member of your own, but know a community Member who does? Nominate them to be the next Featured Furry Friend.
Giving Back Highlighting your most recent charitable efforts in the community.

He pursued college football at Kansas Wesleyan University and the University of Kansas. Ralph received a BS degree in secondary education and bilingual education. After graduation, he became a high school teacher and coach before transitioning into law enforcement with the sheriff’s department as a deputy and moved back to New York City to work for the Department of Justice. FITNESS / WELLNESS
Pickleball Tips Pickleball is a fun and social sport. The rules are fairly simple and the game is pretty easy for beginners to learn. To get you started, follow these tips to develop your game! » » » » »
» » » » »
» » »
Stretch first. Fully engage your body - move your feet, watch the ball, and breathe. Be consistent. Play safe - hit shots that you can make. Do not serve hard or near the sidelines. Have a plan - figure out what your opponent does not like and hit that to them. Make note whether your opponent is right or left-handed so you can hit the ball to their weaker side. Be positive with yourself and your partner. Listen and accept suggestions that you have violated a rule, it is to your benefit. Always get to the non-volley line as soon as you can, as it is the strongest position. Face the player who will hit the ball, not the net. You will be better placed to hit the ball. Keep your paddle high and near your chest as it makes your reaction time better. Keep the ball in play – let your opponent make the mistakes. 75% of all rallies are won or lost because of unforced errors, many of them at the baseline. Return your baseline shots to the center line as much as you can. Placement is more important than power (emphasize control over pace). Finally, do not forget to have fun!
Coping With Stress
W
ith the Holiday Season upon us, it’s a given that you’ll be busier with shopping, traveling, hosting gatherings, and attending more events, all while maintaining your normal schedule. With more on your plate, it’s easy to experience higher levels of stress this time of year despite the joy of the season. High stress levels have a negative effect on your body, both physically and mentally. It’s important to be mindful of that and incorporate solutions within your daily routine to minimize stress levels. Here are some tips to cope in healthy ways: » Take time to unwind after a long day of work. » Get a massage. » Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories and social media. » Connect with your community. » Exercise regularly. » Get at least eight hours of sleep every night. » Eat healthy and with well-balanced meals.
