AMBER ELLIS YOUR LIFESTYLE MANAGER
Hello & Happy Fall!
It is an exciting time here at Esplanade at Tradition as new Members move in and some of our friends up north come back to town. To help with the transition and celebrate “National Neighbor Day” (September 28), we’re taking the pledge to practice the “Good Neighbor Mindset” and help make Esplanade at Tradition the best it can be! Will you join us?
1. Connection: Say hello to your neighbors!
2. Invitation: Invite your neighbors to join you for a meal or a fun activity.
3. Celebration: Cheer your neighbors on or congratulate them during milestone moments.
4. Awareness: Stay aware of people and homes nearby - “We are safer and stronger together.”
5. Availability: Look out for one another. When you are needed, show up to help.
To learn more and take the pledge online, visit nationalgoodneighborday.com.
We look forward to welcoming everyone to an array of upcoming events. Don’t forget to check out the calendar on the website as we continuously add new events based on Member feedback. If you have any suggestions for future events, stop by the Sales Gallery or join us for the next Coffee and Conversation. David Gustavson
SALES ASSOCIATE
David Gustavson grew up in a small town in North Dakota and graduated from the University of North Dakota, with a Bachelor of Science in Business. After graduating, he moved to Arizona to get out of the cold weather.
He recalls one evening the local news put out pet advisories, warning owners to bring their pets inside that night as they were forecasting temperatures to drop into the 40s. This made him laugh as the weather in North Dakota gets to -20 degrees! “It all depends on what your perspective is and where you are coming from,” says David.
After a few years, David was recruited to Los Angeles to work for the international clothing company, Guess?, where he ran the men’s marketing division and was a fit model. He also managed the Beverly Hills flagship store. His job allowed him to travel around the United States and eventually he lived in Boston, New York City, and finally South Beach.
Then, a manager of David’s convinced him to move to Naples, Florida, to work in the real estate industry and that’s what he has been doing ever since. David’s favorite role is working in new home sales. “Visitors have good reasons to buy a home in Florida. They are not just buying a new home, they are buying a vacation home, the home they have been dreaming of for many years!”
David enjoys music, good wine, traveling, and finding new restaurants. He has been to Europe once, where he visited Athens and Santorini. On his wish list, he’d like to visit Italy, Southern France, Switzerland, and Portugal next. Relaxing on the beach is always on his “To Do List,” but whenever he plans a trip to the beach, something always seems to get in the way and he never makes it there.
He is very excited to be working at Esplanade at Tradition. It is a hidden gem in his eyes as we have well laid out, open floor plans with a plethora of option possibilities. He is also looking forward to the gorgeous Resort Amenity Center opening for Members to enjoy!
Creating a Bee Garden
Bees are pollinators and incredibly important wildlife. Here are four things you can do in your yard or other garden spaces to support native bees: 1) Plant Natives; 2) Reduce the Size of Your Lawn; 3) Stop Using Pesticides; and 4) Offer a Nesting Habitat. Furry Friends Meet Ally B. Cherulnik
LOVED BY DONNA & MIKE CHERULNIK
Hi, my name is Ally B. Cherulnik. The “B” is for “Bear” because I’m a Teddy Bear pup (half Bichon and half Shih Tzu). I am the cutest 12-year-old fur baby you will ever meet. My birthday is December 23, so my mom calls me her Christmas pup. I was born in Wisconsin (I guess that’s why I love cheese!) and took my first plane ride to New York when I was 9 weeks old. I lived in New York until this past January when I moved to Esplanade. I spent the first 2 weeks hiding in the master closet because I missed my old house. Then, I started making lots of new friends (Tex, October and Remi are just a few) and realized that this is a pretty nice place to live ... well, except for the thunderstorms. I’m really afraid of thunder and fireworks.
I like to take walks and visit with the other pups in the neighborhood. I also like to visit Rob in the Sales Gallery every day (sometimes twice a day)! He always has treats for me (he carries them in his pocket just in case he sees me out and about) and it makes my day. On his days off, Arezo or Deneen fill in for him so I am always taken care of here.
HAVE A furry family MEMBER THAT YOU WANT TO FEATURE?
Contact your Lifestyle Manager to be featured in the next edition of the Lifestyle Magazine. Answer a few questions about your furry, feathery, or scaly friend and share a couple pictures. Don’t have a furry family member of your own, but know a community Member who does? Nominate them to be the next Featured Furry Friend.
Yoga for Bone Health
Did you know your bones are living organs? As adults, we need 1,000 to 1,200 milligrams of calcium (depending on our age) and at least 2 1/2 hours per week of activity that puts some stress on our bones in order to add new cells to strengthen them. Yoga is an excellent activity for increasing bone density. Try a class online or downtown in Tradition Square! Yoga also helps with:
» Increased flexibility
» Increased muscle strength and tone
» Improved respiration, energy, and vitality
» Maintaining a balanced metabolism
» Weight reduction
» Cardio and circulatory health
» Improved athletic performance
» Protection from injury

Roasted Butternut Squash & Apple Soup with Thyme, Pecans, and Crème Fraîche
Culinary CreationsAT
HOME
Prep Time: 20 min | Cook Time: 50 min |
Serving Size: 6 - 8
INGREDIENTS
» 2 medium butternut squash, peeled and diced
» 3 granny smith apples, peeled and diced
» 6 tablespoons olive oil, divided
» Kosher salt
» 1 red onion, chopped
» 1 large shallot, chopped
» 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped, plus a few extra sprigs for garnish
» 4 cups good quality store-bought chicken stock
» 1 (8 ounce) container crème fraîche
» 1 ½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
» Pinch cayenne pepper
» ½ cup pecans, ground fine in a food processor
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Line two large baking sheets and one small baking sheet with aluminum foil. Spread chopped butternut squash in a single, even layer on the two large baking trays. Spread chopped apple in a single layer on the
small baking sheet. Drizzle squash and apples with 2-3 tablespoons olive oil. Season generously with Kosher salt and toss to coat. Roast squash in oven for 20-30 minutes, until tender. Roast apples for only 15-20 minutes, until tender.
2. In a large stockpot, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add red onion and shallot, season with Kosher salt, and cook until softened, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes. Add roasted squash, roasted apple, thyme, and stock. Season with Kosher salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
3. Using an immersion blender, blend soup until very smooth. Alternatively, place soup in a blender (in batches if necessary), and blend until smooth (just be sure to securely hold top on blender with hot soup in there).
4. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine crème fraîche, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Season with Kosher salt.
5. When ready to serve, divide soup between bowls, top with a dollop of crème fraîche, and sprinkle with ground pecans. Garnish with thyme sprigs, if desired. Devour immediately.
