Greetings, Esplanade Family! I am so excited to be part of such a vibrant, up and coming resort community where our todays and tomorrows promise to be better than our yesterdays. Fall and Florida winter are in the air. It’s my favorite time of year with pumpkin spice lattes, holiday spirit and new seasonal adventures waiting to be explored. Did you know that November is also National Gratitude Month? We all have so much to be grateful for. There is such power in gratitude and its ability to shift our focus from the negative to the positive. I know that our community will continue to thrive and flourish through the power of positivity, grateful hearts, and mindfulness towards one another. I for one have begun a Gratitude Journal (thank you Oprah for the idea)! I encourage you to join me. You will be surprised to find the therapeutic benefits such a simple act can have. In my journal, I document small acts of kindness as they occur. Something as simple as a good morning from a neighbor, a compliment from a co-worker, a text from a friend, a cashier that saw me struggling with my basket and went out of their way to give me a cart – each of these can swiftly erase any ill will that may have come my way and encourage me to be just as servant-led towards others. And, it’s a pretty snazzy looking journal too. If you guessed pink and be-dazzled, you’re right! I am so blessed to be a part of the Esplanade vision and look forward to our journey together.

Patrick Scully YOUR NATIONAL DIRECTOR OF FOOD, BEVERAGE & CULINARY EXPERIENCE
It
is with great pleasure that we introduce Patrick Scully, our National Director of Food, Beverage and Culinary Experience as a part of the Esplanade National Team. With the continued growth of the Esplanade brand, Patrick will be instrumental in orchestrating new culinary experiences for our Members, as well as helping to support the culinary operations at our Esplanade communities nationwide. Patrick has a degree in Hotel & Resort Administration from Georgian College and has worked for over 25 years in food and beverage, holding various positions over the course of his tenure. Patrick was instrumental in opening the first two Culinary Centers for Taylor Morrison at Esplanade Lakewood Ranch and Esplanade Naples. He has also worked for other luxury resorts, including The Diplomat Resort and Spa, Playa Largo Resort and Spa, The W Vieques, The Westin Charlotte, The Westin Harbor Castle, The Sheraton Center and Le Meridien New Orleans. Between the years of 2007 and 2019, Patrick worked diligently to obtain a number of prestigious honors and credentials within his career, including his level 1 certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers and the recognition of earning the highest overall Marriott Food and Beverage Satisfaction and Service rating in North America, while working as Director of Food and Beverage at the Buffalo Marriott Harbor Center. Additionally, the Buffalo Marriott Harbor Center was recognized as the top hotel in North America for overall satisfaction in 2017, 2018 and 2019. When he is not working to grow the world of culinary at Esplanade, he enjoys spending time with his wife Gabriela and his two sons, Connor Patrick Scully (5) and Liam Gabriel Scully (3). Ice hockey and golf are two of his favorite pastimes as well as entertaining and cooking for his friends and family. Patrick is thrilled to be bringing his passion for the fine art of service and food and beverage to this role!

TEACH N’ TASTE A Time for Wine stopped by on August 21 to host a Wine Teach N’ Taste culinary experience. They shared a collection of their favorite wines for Members to enjoy, while your Lifestyle Team supplied an assortment of cheese, fruit, and crackers to help clear the palate. The event was enjoyed by all and we hope to have Time for Wine out again soon!

YOGA In celebration of National Yoga Month, we brought Hatha Yoga to Wiregrass! This relaxing gathering was designed for everyone and anyone, from absolute beginners to the most seasoned practitioners. Throughout the session, the instructor incorporated pranayama and moving meditation to build strength and flexibility. Hatha Yoga is held right on the extended lanai of the Sales Gallery!

CELEBRATION We beat the heat and started the Labor Day weekend celebration at Esplanade Wiregrass with a delicious, sweet treat. Your Lifestyle Team invited the Mahalo Sweet Ice Company food truck to the community to spend the afternoon at the Sales Gallery parking lot to hand out treats to all Members that attended. The Members were surprised because the Mahalo Sweet Ice Company does not serve your average snow cone! Their cold treats are handcrafted shaved ice made with the finest ingredients and pure white cane sugar. A perfect treat for a hot day in Florida!

September’s New Member Mingler happened on September 25 at the Esplanade Wiregrass Sales Gallery. We are blessed to be a blessing and are rising to the occasion to support our local Toys for Tots Chapter. Our donation station was delivered to the Sales Gallery on October 26 and the giving hasn’t stopped. Thank you, Esplanade at Wiregrass Members, for making holiday wishes come true!
Gardening
IN FLORIDA Florida Wildlife Federation strongly supports home gardening projects that provide food, water, and shelter to native species. All species need certain life-sustaining necessities, such as the monarch butterfly needing the milkweed plant. The Florida Wildlife Federation strives to educate others about how they can individually take part in saving the state and the planet in their own backyard. One of the most important ways we can help native plants and animals is by eliminating invasive species in our gardens and public parks. These unwelcome species are a major problem in Florida; they can rapidly run wild, threatening many natural areas by overgrowing native plants. Some of the removal of invasive plants can require using herbicides or machinery and may best be done by professionals. But we can take steps in our own gardens, yards and neighborhoods to prevent the spread of some of these invaders. On the National Wildlife Federation’s website, you can find links to valuable information for gardening in Florida! Pumpkin SPICE BREAD
There’s nothing better than baking a delicious pumpkin spice bread from scratch! This sweet and guilt-less treat is perfect for the holiday season. Did we also mention that it offers lean protein with every serving?

1 cup blanched almond flour ½ teaspoon sea salt ½ teaspoon baking soda 2 tablespoons cinnamon 2 teaspoons nutmeg 1 teaspoon cloves 1 teaspoon ginger

DIRECTIONS
1 teaspoon allspice ½ cup pumpkin 3 eggs 1 tablespoon honey 10 drops liquid stevia 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Mix dry ingredients and spices together in medium-large sized bowl. Mix wet ingrediants together in smaller bowl. Stir wet ingredients into dry and mix together until smooth. Pour batter into 1 large or 2 small greased loaf pans. Bake in 350 degree oven for approximately 40-45 minutes. Bread is done when knife inserted in center comes out clean. 6. Remove from oven and cool on rack.
