Spring has sprung, and with it comes a season full of energy, growth, and excitement! I’m thrilled to share some fantastic events we have planned for March and April—let’s celebrate this vibrant time of year together. Get ready to don your green and join us for our St. Patrick’s Celebration on March 16! With music, food, and plenty of festive fun, it’s the perfect way to gather with neighbors and friends.

On Saturday, April 5, it’s time for our Community Yard Sale. Whether you’re decluttering or treasure hunting, it’s always a great day to connect and discover hidden gems. Don’t miss our Annual Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza on Saturday, April 19! This family favorite is packed with fun, surprises, and sweet treats—plus, the Easter Bunny will be onsite for family photos during the event. It’s a springtime tradition you won’t want to skip.

We are delighted to announce that on January 16, thirty-one Members of the Esplanade at Artisan Lakes Community generously donated to OneBlood, resulting in the collection of 32 units of blood! The next blood drive is March 20.

Thank you for making our community such a wonderful place. I can’t wait to see you at these events and enjoy the spring season together!

Meet Bailey

LOVED BY DEB & LARRY REYNOLDS

How long has your pet been a part of your family and what breed?

Bailey, a Ragdoll cat, known for his gentle nature and striking blue eyes has been with us for 10 years. We adopted him when he was two from a shelter. We learned about Bailey from an online rescue site. His name was Cid. I knew immediately that Cid was not a name that suited this handsome little boy. Larry and I decided not to rename him until the ideal name came to us. It was only a few days later when we were playing with him and said, Bailey’s Irish Cream! His cream and coffee colored fur coat reminded us of the after-dinner drink that we both enjoy.

How old is he and when is his birthday?

Bailey is 12 years old, and his birthday is April 1, which is also our daughter’s birthday! When the grandkids were younger, they thought it was so much fun that they shared the same birthday.

When you travel does he travel with you?

Yes, Bailey travels with us when we drive to Rhode Island every summer. He’s a great traveler and sleeps most of the way. We sometimes think he is a better traveler than we are!

What is his favorite treat?

Bailey loves licking the salt off a Cheez-it, though I only give him this treat occasionally due to his sensitive stomach.

What are a few amazing qualities about your sweet cat?

Bailey is gentle, inquisitive, and loves to play. He’s shy around strangers and hides when we have guests. He follows me around the house and has me wrapped around his little paw. He is a great cat!

Tell us a fun story involving your pet.

The funniest story, although it wasn’t funny at the time, is when he escaped from the exam room at his vet’s office. We were there for his annual physical and the vet technician was weighing him. The vet walked in and left the door ajar, and in a heartbeat, Bailey was up and out the door! I froze for a second and then took off after him and watched this easily frightened cat walking by several dogs, starring them down while heading for the front door. I swooped down and scooped him up, mortified, and headed back to the exam room to find both ladies laughing so hard they were crying.

Why did you choose Esplanade at Artisan Lakes and how long have you lived here?

We’ve lived here for almost one year and it has been great!

AQWe love the gulf coast for its beautiful beaches and the friendly people, so we looked into relocating full time from Dallas, TX. After touring many communities, we fell in love with Esplanade at Artisan Lakes’ gated and landscaped resort atmosphere. We enjoy being near both Tampa and Sarasota with easy access to plenty of family-friendly activities, beaches, shopping and dining options.

What Lifestyle programs are you most interested in?

Our family enjoys the gym, pools, massage therapist, hot tubs, playground, and ping pong table. We love seeing the community celebrate events, birthdays, holidays, and just enjoying life. Matt tries to play golf as much as possible and Dorothy loves getting dinner with new friends and watching sunsets at the beach year-round.

Tell us about your family and current or past professions. We have two elementary school aged kids. Matt graduated from LSU in civil engineering and works from home in

national infrastructure engineering sales for the world’s 4th largest engineering firm. Dorothy has an art degree and runs a residential interior design business, Gautreaux Interiors, which keeps her busy with clients from St. Pete to Sarasota.

What is the best advice you have ever received or given?

Matt’s grandfather would always say, “Not only learn from your mistakes, learn from others’.”

Where is the most exciting place you’ve traveled to and what made it so memorable?

We’ve traveled to so many areas of Europe and plan to go there more now that we live on the East Coast. We love the way of life, food, wine, people, and architecture.

Tell us something that might surprise people.

Matt has played 23 of the top 100 golf courses in the U.S. Dorothy has been a successful entrepreneur for almost 20 years.

The Cooking and Cocktails Series is back in 2025, and we are kicking things off with a night in Bologna! Attendees will learn to craft a classic Bolognese sauce and homemade ricotta cheese designed to elevate your culinary skills.

We'll finish the class with a refreshing homemade lemon gelato, the perfect palate cleanser. As part of the demonstration, you will also have the opportunity to taste a variety of Italian wines that pair well with the classic Bolognese sauce.

During this 1.5 hour demonstration, you will enjoy samples of the featured items and volunteers may be requested. All attendees are encouraged to bring their own beverages to enjoy.
