Call Out For Earth Day Street Party
On Tuesday, April 22nd, the Activities Department will host an Earth Day Street Party from 4pm-7pm in the Village Center. We are looking for clubs, classes or other groups who would like to either have a “vendor” table in the Ballroom or host a presentation with a topic relating to Earth Day (e.g., environment, wildlife, flora, sustainability, conservation, food, etc). If interested or for more information, email Irene Stecher at stecherirene06@gmail.com.
Friendly Reminders
1. Clubs – Do not prop Club facility doors open for building access. This damages our HVAC units and causes unwanted animals, birds or pests to come inside. Remind your club members to bring their Resident ID badges to meetings and events scheduled in the Club facilities.
2. Clubs – Do not dispose or pour food or oils down any kitchen or bathroom sink drain. It has caused plumbing blockages and has incurred hefty plumbing bills.
3. Activities Event Decorations – Unless a staff person welcomes you, please do not take home table centerpieces or decorations from an Activities event. Centerpieces and decorations are reused for events held throughout the year.
Mark Your Calendar
Club Presidents’ Meeting - The mandatory Club Presidents’ Meeting will take place on Monday, February 24th at 2:30pm in the Ballroom. The HOA, Security, and Polk County Sheriff’s Office receive multiple complaints of speeding each week from residents. The Sheriff’s Office has been asked for their assistance in speed enforcement. Receiving a speeding ticket is not only financially costly, but can lead to much more serious results.

ERIC LARSON TEAM LEADER OF SOLIVITA CERT
The CERT Open House is February 10th in the Ballroom. The Open House will be from 1pm-2pm. Open to all Solivita residents. Come and see what CERT is, what we do and what we train for.
In the February Reflections, CERT will have a detailed article on the Battery Replacement Program. It will also contain the specific information you must register to have your batteries replaced. Registration will be the month of February. Actual battery replacement will take place in March and April.
Check-Call-Compress Classes will take place on January 25th, February 22nd, and March 22nd. All classes will be held at The Palms from 10am-12pm. Contact Bryan Olsen at crusher3@ usfamily.net to register.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management regularly posts articles on NextDoor. These articles are informative and good reminders when severe weather approaches. They also post articles on FEMA that are very helpful.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office posts regularly on NextDoor with relevant articles on their activities. Also posted are articles of safety classes, scam programs and others.
Polk County Fire Rescue, our sponsor, offers training classes for CERT. They also post updates of fire related information the community needs to be aware of.
Solivita has a new AED Coordinator and committee. This group is responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing the HOA AEDs. These are the AEDs that are located in the neighborhoods in Solivita. The AEDs in the buildings in the village and around the community buildings are the responsibility of the Club. Each AED is inspected each month to ensure compliance with the manufacturer’s requirements. There is a new phone number to call for service. It is 407-603-2399. This is the main gate. The message will be forwarded to the supervisor and the AED coordinator via email, text or phone. A more detailed article will be forthcoming.
Polk County has an emergency notification system called Alert Polk. This is a critical communications system used to inform residents about public safety threats and concerns. During situations that may affect Polk County residents, Alert Polk is used to send out messages to subscribers via telephone and email. We highly recommend subscribing to this service. Go to polksheriff.org , click on “About” then go to “Citizen Alerts” to register.
