22/23 ONSTAGE SEASON OVERTURE CENTER FOR THE ARTS The OnStage student field trip series is designed for students from schools and homeschools. They offer a diverse range of performing art forms, connect to content across the curriculum and feature various cultural perspectives. To deepen the student experience, we provide Educator Resource Guides for each show filled with curricular-focused lesson ideas.

S eats are $8 each for school groups, $8.50 each for homeschool groups of 15 or more and $9.50 each for homeschool groups less than 15. O ne complimentary seat is given for every 15 seats reserved and subsidies are available for qualified groups. A ll performances are 60 minutes.

GRACE FOR PRESIDENT CAPITOL THEATER

TUE, OCT 25, 2022 | 10 AM AND 12:30 PM GRADES 1-4 Arts, Language Arts, Social Studies Frustrated by the lack of female faces in the White House, Grace decides she wants to be the first female president. She immediately starts off her political career as a candidate and initiates a mock school election. Join Grace and her classmates on a musical theater journey through the throes of campaigning and pep rallies, service projects and posters, as they discover what it takes to be the best candidate. Produced by Casa Mañana.

STEP AFRIKA! CAPITOL THEATER

Arts, Social Studies, Social Emotional Step Afrika! blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities, traditional West and Southern African dances, and an array of contemporary dance and art forms into a cohesive, compelling artistic experience. Performances are much more than dance shows; they integrate songs, storytelling, humor and audience participation. The blend of technique, agility and pure energy makes each performance unique and leave you with your heart pounding.

Shallows to Seafloor with Diva Amon CAPITOL THEATER

WED, JAN 11, 2023 | 11 AM GRADES 4-12 Science Diva Amon is a Trinbagonian deep-sea biologist who works at the nexus of science, policy, and communications. She studies the weird and wonderful animals living in a range of deep-sea habitats and human impact on them. Your students will hear from her about her on research expeditions around the world and her work founding SpeSeas, an organization dedicated to marine science, education, and advocacy in her home country, Trinidad and Tobago.

FREEDOM BOUND CAPITOL THEATER

TUE, FEB 7 AND WED, FEB 8, 2023 10 AM AND 12:30 PM BOTH DAYS GRADES 3-9 Arts, Social Studies, Social Emotional Freedom Bound revolves around the most famous incident in the history of the Underground Railroad in Ohio: the story of Addison White, an escaped slave, and his rescue by the citizens of the town of Mechanicsburg, Ohio. Freedom Bound brings history to life with original songs and an array of characters who relive this story to illustrate the tension and drama, and the promise of hope and deliverance from bondage in that extraordinary time in our country’s history. Presented by Mad River Theater Works.

Arts, Social Studies Always a favorite, the University of Wisconsin Varsity Band led by Director Corey Pompey treats audiences to a spectacular show of many musical styles from pop to Broadway.
