NOTES
- Welcome to this evening’s matchup between your Owens Express and the Edison State Chargers. Tonight’s game is being aired by BCSN, and it will be streamed on our YouTube page, which can be found by searching Owens Express Athletics. - Edison’s men’s basketball team (10-4, 1-3 OCCAC) is led by Dae’Shawn Jackson, who played for Owens last year. He leads the team in PPG, RPG, APG and SPG. - Owens head coach Dennis Springs is off to a 3-0 start in OCCAC play since taking over the team on Dec. 17. Edison, meanwhile, also features a first-year head coach in Rick Hickman, although he has led the team from the start of the season. - A trio of sophomore guards for Owens are among the nation’s leaders in three categories - Derrik Jamerson Jr., who has signed with NCAA D-I Norfolk State, is 10th in the nation in 3-point field goals made with 55, which he makes at a 47.0 percent clip; Ty’Rese Searles is 16th in the nation in FT percentage (87.3); and Roy Hatchett Jr. is third in the nation in assists at 8.3 per game. - Owens is coming off its second highest offensive output of the season (105) against Columbus State on Saturday. It was the team’s third 100 point game of the season. - Jamerson now needs 15 made 3-point field goals and 24 attempted 3-point field goals to break the program’s career records, and he needs just 11 points to reach 700 in his career. - To view the schedule and results, along with links to recaps, photo albums and videos this year, visit OwensExpress.com and select men’s basketball from the sport dropdown.
