NOTES
- Welcome to this afternoon’s matchup between the No. 2 ranked Owens Express women’s basketball team and the visiting Sinclair Tartan Pride (18-5, 7-4 OCCAC) of Dayton, Ohio. Both games of today’s doubleheader are being streamed live on the athletic department’s YouTube page. - While Owens owns a 45-12 all-time record against Sinclair, the Tartan Pride’s last two wins in the series were monumental - they knocked off No. 7 Owens 92-88 in OT on March 9, 2012 in the district tournament, and they ended an 18-game win streak for No. 2 Owens in a 76-74 win on Feb. 20, 2010. - In the series history, Owens is 22-4 at home, 18-7 on the road, 5-1 in neutral site matchups and 6-2 in postseason play. Head coach Mike Llanas is 24-5 vs Sinclair. Owens has won 11 straight in the series and 16 of 17. Owens also owns the only three 100 point games in the series, with the highest one being Feb. 8, 2014 in a 113-59 win. - Owens defeated Sinclair 78-56 on Dec. 17 in Dayton, which was the team’s second closest win this year. Owens was without Denissa Sly and Olivia Frost in that game, though. - This year, Owens has won 23 straight to open the season. They own the nation’s top offense (95.8 PPG) and also lead the country in FGM/game (36.6), offensive RPG (22.0) and opponents FG percentage (27.2). They are also among the top five in nine other team statistical categories. - Owens enters today with a 37-game regular season winning streak dating back to Jan. 6 of last year. They have also won a program record 44 straight regular season conference games, a streak that began Feb. 8, 2014. The last loss? Feb. 1, 2014. The team hasn’t lost a home conference game since Feb. 21, 2012. - Owens has now won its first 23 games by an average of 51.5 PPG. Furthermore, they have outscored their opponents by 1,183 points, which is 163 more than the total number of points they’ve allowed this year. They have not won a game by fewer than 21 points. - Additionally, Owens has now scored 100 or more points nine times, which ties the single season record held by last
year’s team. - Owens is now 69-1 at home, which includes 20 straight wins, since February of 2012. - After spending the first six polls of the season at No. 3, Owens has spent the past three weeks ranked No. 2, which ties the highest ranking in program history. - In OCCAC play, Owens leads the conference in the following team categories - total points, PPG, FGM/game, FGA/game, 3-pt FGM/game, 3-pt FGA/game, offensive RPG, total RPG, rebounding margin, assists/game, steals/game, blocks/game, PPG allowed, opponents FG percentage and opponents 3-pt FG percentage. They are also second in FG, 3-pt FG and FT percentages. - To view the schedule and results, along with links to recaps, photo albums and videos this year, visit OwensExpress.com and select women’s basketball from the sport dropdown.
