- Welcome to this evening’s Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) match. Owens enters this match as the new No. 2 team in the nation following the release of the new poll yesterday, while Cuyahoga enters with a 12-7 overall (3-2 OCCAC) record. Owens defeated Cuyahoga 25-12, 25-19, 2517 on the road Sept. 7. - Owens is 44-4 all-time against Cuyahoga. - Owens is now 6-1 against current NJCAA top 20 teams. The only loss came to No. 1 Parkland. The team faces a stiff challenge this weekend in the Catawba Valley (NC) Invitational, where they will face a 24-1 NJCAA D-I Wallace State - Hancville, as well as NJCAA D-II No. 4 Catawba Valley and No. 11 Pasco-Hernando. They will also play Cape Fear and Northern Virginia during the trip. - Owens will be facing a much improved Cuyahoga team than they’ve seen in recent years. The team’s win totals in each of the past three years have been 11, 10 and 9. This year’s team has already eclipsed the win total from any of those years, and looks to have the team’s first winning season in a while. - Nationally, Owens is ninth in kills, fifth in hitting percentage, eighth in assists and 10th in blocks. - The next home action for Owens will be Oct. 14 -15 during Hall of Fame Weekend. On the morning of the 15th, the college will honors its first six inductees into the Owens Athletics Hall of Fame. - Today’s match, as well as all home matches and select away matches, will be streamed live and archived for free.
