NOTES

- Welcome to this evening’s matchup between your Owens Express and the Kellogg Bruins. Tonight’s game is being streamed live through the department’s YouTube page, which can be found by searching Owens Express Athletics. - Kellogg enters tonight with a 3-6 record overall. They are led by Mohammed Albagami, who is a sophomore guard from Battle Creek Central High School. He leads the team in points, rebounds, steals and 3-point field goal percentage. - Tonight will be the first home game for Owens head coach Dennis Springs, who took over the team following Friday’s resignation of head coach Dave Clarke due to family reasons. What did Springs do in his first game? He helped lead the team to an upset of undefeated No. 4 Sinclair on the road Saturday. - Springs, who is a graduate of Scott High School in Toledo, Ohio, is the first African American head coach in program history, and the transition is the program’s first midseason coaching change since Jamie Gill took over for D.J. Cameron in the 1984-85 season. - With Saturday’s win over No. 4 Sinclair, Owens is now 3-2 against top 10 ranked teams this year. - As of Dec. 20, Owens sophomore point guard Roy Hatchett is second in the nation in assists per game at 8.5 - To view the schedule and results, along with links to recaps, photo albums and videos this year, visit OwensExpress.com and select men’s basketball from the sport dropdown.
