Express Notes Looking To Clinch: With a win today, Owens would clinch at least a share of its third straight and fourth Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) title in five seasons. Home Stretch: Today’s game begins a three game home stretch to close the regular season. After today’s tilt, Owens will take on the current No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the conference this Saturday and next before beginning Williams Explodes: Freshman point guard Briana Williams had a season best game in the team’s 101-71 win over Edison with 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting, including a 6-for-8 finish from 3-point range. She has 12 assists and only two turnovers in her past three games. Offense Kicking Into High Gear: Owens has scored 98 or more points in three of its past four games, including two games of 101 points.
Today’s Game
The No. 2 Owens Express women’s basketball team is looking for its 27th straight win as they host the Lorain County Commodores today. It will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams after Owens captured an 88-37 win on Jan. 28. The Owens defense was able to hold Lorain County to 17 points in the second half. The Express will be looking to extend multiple streaks - a 26 game overall winning streak, a 41 game home regular season winning streak and a 19 game regular season conference winning streak. Should they win today, they would tie the program’s 42 game home conference winning streak record. Today’s game will be aired live on iHigh at www.ihigh.com/owenscc. It will also be archived online for free.
Series History Today’s matchup will only be the fourth ever between Owens and Lorain County. Aside from the earlier season matchup on Jan. 28, the other two games came in 2010 with Owens winning 84-67 on the road Jan. 20 and 98-43 at home Feb. 11.

Commodores Notes Back In The OCCAC: Lorain County is in its first year back in the conference after a several year hiatus. They are the only NJCAA Division III team in the conference. Lopez Factor: Onyx Lopez led Lorain County with 12 points in the first matchup vs Owens this year. In fact, she was the only player to score double figures for Lorain County in that game, and she is leading hte team with 11.5 points per game this year. The Play Of Woods: Gabby Woods is averaging a team-high eight rebounds per game for Lorain County. She led her team with 10 rebounds in the first matchup against Owens, and she has four double digit rebounding games in conference play, including 10 in her team’s most recent game against Columbus State. Closing Out Conference Play: Lorain County will close out its 2014-15 conference schedule with tonight’s game. They will begin postseason play later this month.
