We also wanted to thank you all for your endless support, near and far, the tireless encouragement and the cheers, in the stands and through the computers! We wouldn’t be the program we are without you! Go Bishops!
A NOTE FROM COACH After the tremendous fall season, we have rested, regrouped and restarted our training for the fall! The girls are in full hockey mode and have made great improvements in such a short time! We’ve built on our fundamentals and our confidence and we look to defend the NCAC Title this fall! I hope to see you all in the stands at some point! As always, it’s a great day to be a Bishop! -Head Coach Brenda Semit

SEMESTER RECAP As the semester winds down, we’re excited to share what been happening this Spring! Spring Practices have been bright and early (6am-8am) and have been going so well! We alternate between focusing on skill acquisition, small sided game and traditional play to help the team refine their fundamental skills, learn some higher level skills they can bring into the fall season and fine-tune their decision making with a focus on possession and positive outcomes! Additionally, we have had Practice Player of the Week awards to honor our teammates who are giving 110% e ort each week at practice. With the weather not being on our side this spring, we have only awarded two awards (both to freshman): Auzlynd Katterhenrich and Puck De Nooy! For field players we are focusing on adding in reverse (back hand) shots into our attacking skill set and have been awarding players Reverse of the Day awards to reinforce using the shot. So far Zoë Nelson, Colleen McMenamin, Cate Kuhlman and Emily Streeter have won the trophy! MAX OUT LEADERS BENCHPRESS

Freshman Carley Lounsbury has shown the most improvement overall with others not far o her numbers!

O the field, us coaches have been working hard and have been on the road looking for future Battling Bishops! In January, Brenda traveled down to Florida for the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Annual Convention which is held in conjunction with the Winter Escape Recruiting Showcase. Brenda and Roisin then made the trip back down to Florida for the Disney Showcase held at ESPN World of Sports. Both events are some of the largest recruiting events each year and are pretty vital to the health of our recruiting database! From there, Roisin traveled to Lancaster, PA for the U16 National Indoor Tournament! Most recently, both coaches attended Shooting Star Easter in Frederica, DE and ran into OWUFH Alum Mary McCracken! We also brought some recruiting to OWU this Spring as we hosted some great events on campus! First, we started with our Committed Player Day and had all eight members of OWUFH Class of 2026 on campus to spend some time getting to know each other and the team! We are beyond excited to say that the future is bright! The day following Committed Player Day, we hosted a Spring Clinic open to any player in high school. There was a great turnout and we had 33 players attend the clinic! It was a super competitive day filled with skills, drills and high quality game play.

A few weeks later, we hosted out annual Junior Day recruiting weekend! Over the course of two days, we brought some of our top prospects in the graduating class of 2023 to campus so they could immerse themselves in the campus experience and see everything Ohio Wesleyan has to o er! Following the weekend we actually received our first commit for the OWUFH 2027 class! 4
Looking forward, we have an exciting slate of upcoming recruiting events that we will travel to as well as our Summer Clinic hosted on campus! We will be attending a handful of events virtually but will be hitting the road this summer! Lastly, the team has participated in community service! One of the most simple ways we contribute is through an organization Color a Smile. The team completes coloring pages that we mail in to an organization to be distributed to anyone who needs something to cheer up their day. Aside from that, we have another exciting program that we are working on (but are not ready to share just yet)! Most recently, we celebrated the Dale J Bruce awards where our very own Astrid Koek was named a Top 10 Female Athlete and received the department’s most prestigious award, the Presidential Award. The Presidential Award is based on athletics ability and achievement, academic excellence, character, leadership, activities and inspiration. Veronica Hardman was also named a Top 50 Scholar Athlete within the department! Finally, the team was able to celebrate their accomplishment this past Fall with President Rock Jones with a dinner at his house! During dinner, the team also received their conference championship rings! 5
ALUMNI GAME
The Alumni Game was a huge success this year! We LOVED having everyone back to campus for the game and it was amazing to see everyone in one place, especially a er a couple challenging years! We are beyond excited to continue this tradition each year moving forward! The alumni won the game 1-0 and are the reigning champs! A erwards, we were able to gather and reminisce at Old Dog Ale House in Downtown Delaware!

BISHOPS FOR BISHOPS APRIL 26TH-29TH, 2022 We are also beyond excited to announce that we met our fundraising goal earlier this Spring Semester and will be able to provide our team with Nike Down-Filled Bomber Jackets to keep them warm late into the season! Looking forward, we are now setting our sights on new, custom game-day goal cages! Our current cages have stood the test of time and are as reliable as ever. However, we would love to equip Selby Stadium with new, customized goal cages that truly show our Battling Bishop pride! The Bishops for Bishops Giving Campaign is running from April 26th to April 29th and we have a lo goal to reach! If you are able, please consider donating to help bring some more OWU Pride to the turf for game days this Fall!
