GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE

Hello everyone from your new general manager! Wow, that sure is fun to say! I am so excited for the opportunity to be your new GM and I want to thank everyone for all the support I have received throughout this entire process. From the phone calls, to the texts, to the emails and the conversations I have had, the support has been overwhelming and makes me even more honored and excited to be leading the OCC team.

From the time I started here 2 years ago, we have used the term "expect more" in all of our marketing. We want our members and future members to know they can expect more than the typical country club experience. I (and the team) have worked hard the last 2 years to fulfill that message by enhancing our events programming, adding in offseason amenities, growing our ladies events and of course adding more members to our Oxbow family. This "expect more" mentality is also something I look forward to bringing to the role as GM, I want you to expect more out of myself and of the club. The members are truly the pulse of this club and I always want to be doing the best I can for you, so please know my door is always open If there is anything you need from me, please reach out

With that, I want to take some time to point out a few exciting things we have coming up not only in March but all the way into the summer!

CHARACTER BRUNCH

I am so excited for this year's Character Brunch as we are partnering with Addie's Royal Cupcake Stand ( & the Sunshine Foundation) who will be supplying all of our characters. Cupcakes will be available (free will donation) from Addie's Royal Cupcake Stand. You can find out more about Addie and her cupcake stand here on her Addie's Royal Cupcake Stand Facebook page. They have a great mission and we are very excited to be partnering with them! You can sign up for our March 5th Character Brunch seatings on the website or in the app.

BOURBON DINNER

I have been asked several times about a bourbon dinner and it's finally happening. We are still working out the details, but mark your calendars for Thursday, March 23rd for our first ever bourbon dinner! Stay tuned for more details on this.

JUNIOR SIGN UP DAY

There are a few changes coming to our junior offerings this year including the addition of a second junior golf camp as well as a few schedule/pricing changes for clinics, swimming lessons and more. We will have a junior sign up day on Sunday, March 26th where you can ask questions about our junior offerings this summer as well as get signed up for activities. Watch your email and our social channels for more information on this.

SUMMER MUSIC LINEUP

I don't know about you, but I am ready for summer! I have our entire summer music lineup locked in and it's going to be a great one! We will have music on the patio Friday nights starting Memorial Day Weekend. Tripwire is going to headline our 4th of July event and we will close out the summer with an epic outdoor concert with 32 below! If you want to see the full schedule of music this summer, please look on our Facebook page or on the newsfeed portion of our app!

MEMBER EXPERIENCE DIRECTOR

I will be hiring for a Member Experience Director this month, (aka my old job). The title is slightly different than previous, but I think it reflects what the position truly is. My favorite part of the job was all the interactions I got to have with the members and this "new position" will be involved in all the aspects of the member experience from signing up, to social activities, to member dining. We want to make sure that everyone who walks through the door truly gets that "expect more" experience and this position will be in charge of making sure that happens! So please keep your eye out for an announcement on this new member of the team.

As always if you have any membership ideas or have anyone you want me to reach out to regarding membership just shoot me an email at aja@oxbowcc com and I am happy to help.

Thanks again everyone for all of your support and I am very excited for what the future holds at OCC!

ACCOUNTANT'S AVENUE

Welcome to March!Let’s hope, with all of the bad weather we’ve been having, that March does not come in like a lion!

Below I have listed some of the most commonly asked questions about member accounts:

Is gratuity automatically added to my check?

The 18% gratuity on Food & Beverage is only automatically applied if you do not sign your slip. If you would like to leave a custom tip, please ask your server for your slip. This will also give you a chance to make sure you were charged correctly, especially if you are dining with a larger group The automatic gratuity is not applied to credit card or cash payments

I just made a payment on my account, why is it not showing up on my app?

Payments can be viewed on the app under the ‘Recent’ tab, which is found on the top lefthand corner after you click on ‘Current statement’. Statements are generated once a month, so any payments made after you receive your statement will only show on the recent tab This is also a great way to check for any discrepancies in your charges throughout the month.

Can I set up autopay and if so, what date is the autopay ran?

We have two options for autopay – ACH or Credit Card Please reach out to me for an authorization form to set this up. Please note, there is a 3% additional fee to process autopay with a credit card. I run the autopay on the 10th of the month unless it falls on a weekend or holiday, which will then be ran on the next business day.

Currently I am receiving my statement via mail. Is there an option to send it via email?

Yes, please provide me with your email address and I will get it set up to send via email. Email is the best option to receive your statement. If you are currently signed up for emailed statements and are not receiving them, please let me know by emailing me at accounting@oxbowcc com or calling me directly at 701-598-1112

Thank you and enjoy your club!

FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER UPDATE

Hello everyone! Happy New Year! I hope everyone has been enjoying this wonderful North Dakota weather, hard to believe it’s already March. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for spring…and over all this snow!

February sure did fly past! It was a fun packed and exciting month! We sure have been busy worker bees, from kid’s night, to Sushi making classes, Super Bowl parties and Family Bingo nights! Although we enjoy a snow day here and there, I think it’s safe to say winter can kindly make room for Spring

Coming up for the month of March, some things to look forward to, Kid’s Night in the beginning of the month, then we have our wine dinner on the 7th, we have two trivia nights this month, and then also a whiskey dinner towards the end of the month. There are lots of fun things for everyone to enjoy going on here at the club!

Make sure you stay tuned to the Oxbow Facebook group to stay informed on what’s going on at the club from week to week! It’s also a good way to get a sneak peak on dinner specials, sushi, and desserts!

I would also like to congratulate Aja on her new role as the General Manager at Oxbow! Myself, and the entire staff are excited to have her lead us down the path of success, no doubt that she will do a fantastic job! Way to go Aja!

Another thing to keep on your radar, with the new golf/summer season upon us, we will very soon start looking to fill our summer staff! That being said, if you know anyone who is looking for a great summer gig, please sent them my way, or they can apply on our website!

Have a GREAT March! Can’t wait to see you enjoying your club! Cheers!

CHEF'S CORNER

Hello, Oxbow! I hope everyone had a lovely February. I am really hoping for a sunnier and warmer March. Golf season is a lot of work for everyone out here, however, I am so ready. Bring on the golf tournaments. Bring on the hot sweltering kitchen. Bring on the loud and ever annoying pop music blaring from the pool. Bring on the hundreds of gallons of ranch and the massive amounts of chicken strips. Bring on BATB bring on Derby! I seriously cannot wait for all of this. It’s what it’s all about. We do 70% of our business in 30% of the year. It’s hard, and fast. When September hits there is a collective PHEW from all staffers. I can’t wait!!

There is not a ton of news…… OH, WAIT!!!! There is one giant piece of news! Her name starts with an Aja and ends with a Nyquist. I will let the following (the kitchens letter of recommendation) say how I and my staff feel:

To whom it may concern,

I am writing this letter on behalf of myself (Scott Motschenbacher) and the entire culinary team. We have all come to the same conclusion, we believe Aja would be the best fit for the GM position. She has the full respect of the sTtaff, both BOH and FOH. She has proven herself to be a great leader. A few examples include our last Santa brunch. I was quite nervous leading up to the day of. We had nearly 100 more people in attendance than previous. That coupled with the ballroom filled with the arcade and simulators, I thought disaster was in store. It could not have been farther from the truth. The truth is, it was the easiest and most flawless Santa brunch we have ever hosted. That was all due to Aja’s vision and leadership. She was thrust into the position right before our busy holiday season and performed magnificently. She has shown us all that there has been a lot of undue stress in the past. She successfully got us through our cleaning week and surprised us with a staff holiday party. She continues to improve morale amongst all staffers.

When Sedi decided to leave us for the second time I immediately went into panic mode. All the memories of 2020 came flooding back into my mind. I don’t need to elaborate, you were all there for it. After talking myself off a ledge I started to think about it rationally. Without speaking to Aja previous I immediately thought she would be the best fit. She knows the club, the membership, and the staff. To me it only makes sense. We had quite the failed experiment before. There is no experimenting when it comes to Aja. She has the motivation and the fortitude for the position. I believe there is a lot of longevity with her as well.

Whatever our opinion is worth, I hope you all take this as our official recommendation. Thank you for taking the time to read through this.

Back to what I was saying… I believe I speak for all the staff. We could not be happier with the hiring committee’s decision. Aja will bring this club into a future that no one else could even come close to providing. If you have not yet congratulated her, I urge everyone to do so.

For this month I want to share my gremolata recipe. Now that Lent is upon us, this pairs very well with fish.

CHEF SCOTT'S RECIPE OF THE MONTH: GREMOLATA

Ingredients:

1 bunch Italian flat leaf parsley

2 garlic cloves minced

Juice of 2 lemons

¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Procedure:

Rough chop your parsley and add to a mixing bowl. Add your garlic and lemon juice. At this point you want to add your salt. Salt is non fat soluble, meaning it won’t “melt” in fat. After mixing well add your olive oil. Mix it all together and use as a condiment on your cooked fish. It can double as a fresh and vibrant marinade. If you use it as a marinade, only marinate for 2-4 hours. The acid from the lemon juice will start to “cook” your fish. That is how ceviches work. Enjoy!!

GOLF SHOP UPDATE

Golf is just around the corner. We hope you are ready for another season of golf at Oxbow CC! We have been working on programming for the summer and you should see this information begin to be released very soon. Our team is looking forward to assisting you in all of your golf related needs for 2023!

We would like to welcome Richie Shannon as our new 1st Assistant Golf Professional. Many of you may already know Richie from when he was running Maple River Golf Club He has many years in the golf business and has been a great addition to the team since he came on board in January. If you have not had a chance to meet Richie, please stop by the golf shop in introduce yourself to him. He will be of great assistance for our operation and our club We haven’t had a 1st Assistant Golf Professional since 2021 so we are looking forward to what he will bring to the members and our team.

2023 will be hopefully back to normal in regard to timelines on special orders It will still not be the same as preCovid but the manufacturers are getting better at shorter timelines than the last two years. As always, we have many fitting systems for all of the new clubs that will be coming out this year. Ben Walker and I will be able to fit you right away. Sam Hendricks and Richie will be with us so they are able to fit you as well when summer time is in full swing.

We are already getting some of our new products into our inventory. FootJoy shoes have already arrived and they have a great line up this year. We should start seeing our stock golf clubs coming in early March as well.

Registration for our Member-Guest, the Battle at the Bow, will begin on March 1st and end on March 31st. We have sent an email out to all eligible golfers for this event. We will continue to do so throughout March. You will have a month to register and we will host a lottery drawing on Thursday night of the first round of The Masters! -Corey

NEWS FROM THE FAIRWAY

We have begun filling staff positions for the summer and have several opportunities available. Our scheduling is flexible and do not require full-time hours; the only requirement is the morning hours starting at 6:00am. The starting pay is $15 hour+, with lunch and golf privileges. This is a great opportunity for anyone with or without golf experience or knowledge.

Our winter equipment maintenance is close to being completed, our attention is now on course accessories. Flag sticks, tee markers and hazard stakes are several of the items that will be evaluated and repaired/painted as needed Most of these items will have a useful life of 3-5 years before they need to be replaced

The temperatures will be increasing soon and the course will lose its cover, please keep golf carts off the course until the golf course is open Historically we have multiple drain lines freeze during the winter and water becomes trapped in and around drainage basins. The temporary ponds created by the frozen lines will make travelling the course an issue until the drains are steamed or pumped.

The earliest that Oxbow has opened the golf course is March 22nd, 2012. With some cooperation from Mother Nature, I am hoping for an early April start.

See you on the course.

CATERING & EVENTS UPDATE

Hello all!!

As I write today, we are still enjoying a long winter here at Oxbow. I hope everyone has had a warm fire or a sunny window to sit by to escape from the cold! Luckily, we can all rest assured that warm weather is on our horizon and spring will be here soon In the meantime, head out to the club and have some fun in the arcade or enjoy the golf simulators.

Remember if your organization or family needs to hold a meeting or social event the Oxbow Ballroom or the family dining area are the perfect spots for small or large groups Don’t forget it’s never too early to start thinking about your summer plans including pool parties for the kiddos. Last summer the pool deck booked up pretty fast so let me know if I can make a reservation for you.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed for an early arrival to spring weather Take care!!
