CALENDAR OF EVENTS

3

From the General Manager It is so exciting for all of us here to see outdoor activity again! The club takes on a different feel once the season begins and the days start getting longer and warmer. While April is always spotty for golf weather, we still had some great days on the course, and we hope that continues in to May, with more consistent warm weather. As usual, we have lots of activities and events coming up on the calendar for you, and now we get to add in golf events as well. Please make sure to check out the events calendar in the following pages, as well as info on all of our outstanding member events this month. The team here is busy getting ready for the season, continuing to hire seasonal teammates and planning for all the fun that is coming up! Membership As of the end of April, we have had 33 new member families join our club! This is only the beginning of membership season, so please keep referring your friends and colleagues to your club. We are a bit behind our numbers from last year, which is mostly attributed to our longer off-season and colder weather. Our goal this year is to have 60 families join us and that happens when our members refer their club to others. With the warmer weather starting to be more consistent, we are seeing a rise in the number of membership inquiries. Please contact myself or Aja if we can contact a prospective new member.

We open up earlier tee times, as well as start opening up in-member dining a bit earlier. Snack and Beverage huts will also open this month, around mid-May, as we are able to get more team members to serve you once school is done for the year. Noon on Monday 9AM Tuesday – Friday 8AM Saturday & Sunday The bar is open for beverage service ½ hour before the first tee time, food service begins at 11AM, Monday – Saturday, 10AM Sunday. Starting Memorial Day weekend, weekday tee times (Tuesday – Friday) start at 8AM, weekends at 7:30AM. Monday is still at noon, so David can spend extra time on course maintenance projects. The pool complex is open daily from 11AM to 8PM. Remember to get the kids signed up for swimming lessons as well. CLUBHOUSE UPDATE Kyle Millar Clubhouse Manager kyle@oxbowcc.com

Well, the first month of the course being open is in the books! April came with some interesting weather this year, but our members couldn’t have been happier with the early opening. It was great to see so many members back out enjoying our beautiful course. I was able to play the course late in the month and had a great time. I can’t wait for the course to green up a bit more! Besides the course opening we also had a few fun events in April. Right out of the gate we had our Easter Brunch. It was a lovely spring day with some great food from Chef, can’t ask for much more. Then we had another fun kids night featuring “The Incredibles 2”. At the end of the month we finished with our Daddy Daughter Dance. All the young ladies looked beautiful! The dads cleaned up well too, I guess. Good food, dancing, and a horse drawn carriage made for a magical night for our young Oxbow ladies. April has also been a very busy month for myself and our staff. I have been interviewing new serving staff all month long to gear up for the summer months. I really think we are going to have a wonderful staff this season. We have had a handful of them already get started within the last couple weeks. They bring a lot of fun new energy on the team! Here’s to keeping the fun rolling into May! -Kyle

Chef's Corner SCOTT MOTSCHENBACHER EXECUTIVE CHEF CHEF@OXBOWCC.COM

Hello, Oxbow!! I think we can all finally say that spring is here! April was kind of a dud. A few nice days mixed with rain and snow. This month we will be rolling out the spring/summer menu. I am pretty excited for this one. Tons of fresh summer ingredients and some Oxbow favorites. With the roll out of the menu we will be having a house committee meeting, date is TBD. This committee is all about food and beverage. I strongly urge anyone that wants to be a part of it to join. We will go over the new menu and try out a few of the new apps, sandwiches and entrees. Talk about the pool, any beverages we should add to the list. It’s a really fun time actually. If you are interested, please email myself chef@oxbowcc.com, or Kyle kyle@oxbowcc.com. The more the merrier! Now that we are in May that means warmer weather for growing! We will be planting the Oxbow garden middle of the month. We are expanding the garden so we have some open spots for anyone that wants to take part. Some of the things we will be planting include; a variety of tomatoes, peppers, onions, carrots, potatoes, Swiss chard, lettuces, cabbage, radishes, and horse radish. A lot more to come. Along with the garden you will get a weekly basket of produce with a recipe to go with it. At the end of the growing season there will be a wine dinner utilizing all the ingredients from the garden. If you’re interested, contact me chef@oxbowcc.com.

Recipe of the Month: Cheese Curds For this month’s recipe I want to share our cheese curd recipe. This is something a number of you like to order after a round of golf. You might not see it on the menu, but we have it. Ingredients: 1 pound cheese curds 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons paprika 3 tablespoons granulated garlic 2 tablespoons ground black pepper 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper 3 tablespoons kosher salt 3 eggs ½ cup skim milk 4 cups vegetable oil for frying Procedure: In a large mixing bowl add all of your flour and spices and mix well. In a separate bowl beat your eggs with the skim milk. Now add the curds to the flour mixture and toss. Once they are all fully coated add them to your egg mix. Now add them back into the flour. Mix well and separate them from the flour. In a heavy bottomed skillet add your oil and heat to 350 degrees. Be sure to monitor the temperature closely, Add the cheese curds to the hot oil slowly and cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove from the oil and drain excess oil. Dip them in your favorite sauce. Enjoy!!

GOLF SHOP UPDATE Corey Herlickson Head Golf Professional corey@oxbowcc.com

Well, that wasn’t the start to the year weatherwise that we were looking for! The good news is that May is here and that means warm weather cannot be stopped. We are looking forward to having you at the course for more than just two days a week. Keep you heads up and stay positive because this is going to be a great summer. We are entering tournament season for club hosted tournaments. Our first is The Opener and our second is the Memorial Day Mixer. We are handling sign ups for these types of tournaments in a different fashion than in the past. We are now using Golf Genius. You can find it at www.golfgenius.com Each tournament has a GGID specific to the event. This GGID allows you to sign up, view tournament info, see results, receive emails from the club about the tournament, etc. It also saves the golf shop time with looking up handicaps. We have sent out a list of the tournaments along with the dates of each event and the GGID. It was sent out in a separate email via our club email system. The handicap computer in the golf shop is another place you can sign up. We have a list of GGID’s for each tournament on the wall right by the computer for you to use when you are registering. If you have any questions just ask the golf shop team. The grass should be getting greener so we want to remind you to pair up on golf carts. We want to keep the turf in the best shape possible and having less cart traffic is one way to help us out. We will have demo days coming in May and June. We have already made you aware of the dates we have booked for PXG in our Golf Shop Weekly Update. Here are the dates we have confirmed in May and June: May 10 PXG May 26 Cleveland, TaylorMade June 2 PXG, Titleist, Callaway -Corey 20

NEWS FROM THE FAIRWAY David Wood Superintendant david@oxbowcc.com

With the temperatures trending upward our focus in the next couple of weeks will be on incorporating seed in areas that density is an issue on the course. Cool-season grass seed germinates best when soil temperatures are between 50°- 65°. This roughly corresponds to daytime air temperatures in the 60°- 75° range. Locally soil temperatures have been in the low 40° range. Areas of main concern are the three and four fairways and cart path edges. Slit seeding and aerification will be the primary methods of planting. On April 2nd the golf course irrigation system was pressurized. The lack of precipitation, low humidity levels and several windy days prompted this decision due to multiple greens showing signs of drought stress. Fortunately, there were no piping breaks and we were able to water the majority of the greens. This was the earliest that we have on record for starting to irrigate the grass. Managing traffic and wear is always a concern throughout the course. You will start to see more ropes and signage along cart paths and around golf features. Keep carts on the paths and do not follow the cart tracks of previous golfers. Please do your part by filling divots and repairing ball marks this time of the year as the recuperation rate of grass is low. See you on the course David Wood
