SALACAK COAST DESIGN COMPETITION

Competition Project Equivalent Prize Fall 2020 Team Work Istanbul,Turkey w/ Rasa Studio Architecture Design

This project was one of the biggest and most important competition projects I have been in on an urban scale, so we worked as a team. On the seaside in ĂœskĂźdar / Salacak, one of the oldest and historical places of Istanbul; New and useful proposals were made on the urban scale based on the landscape and other spaces.

The project was awarded the Equivalent prize in the competition held by the municipality of Istanbul and was opened to public voting.

Fountain square increases the life by producing an action surface (such as pier, beach, breakwater) and produces urban-rural minor foci. On the other hand, during the metropolitanization process of the city, the relationship between the Salacak city-coastal-water intersection was interrupted by the coastal embankment and then by the vehicle, and the minor foci were broken;

Fountain Square and Coastal In the urban-historical readings carried out on the area, at the points allowed by the characteristic topography in the cliff typology starting from Selimiye barracks to Şemsipaşa square; It has been observed that the cores of life begin with a fountain and articulate towards the sea. However, it has been determined that the movement opening to the shore with the

Thus, it has been observed that the coast has transformed into a transfer surface and a pure.In the approach to the field, re-activating the minor foci (harem bus station, stairs descending from the cliff embankment, landing pier and Şemsipaşa square) produced by the articulation that produces life by meeting the shore is considered as a design problem. Thus, the potentials

of coastal-urban life produced by the filling surface, which can be produced by combining the axis parallel to the shore with vertical architulations, has been investigated and the proposal has been developed in the context of this principle.

The new green areas designed in the project have been combined with the existing green textures, and a green continuity has been achieved on the entire coast. The area has a rich structure in terms of landscape values. Existing parks, coastal and cliffs were increased by preserving existing trees. Open-closed, shadesun, green-hard ground proportions are balanced and designed for the disabled. The climatic and environmental values of the region were taken into consideration.

Places to be used in four seasons have been created. In the vegetative design, plant species suitable for the natural structure of the region have been selected. In addition to visual richness in vegetal design, it is aimed to minimize the negative effects that may arise in climatic and coastal use. The species used in the afforestation of the area have been evaluated in accordance with the fore-shore and back-shore typology and solution proposals have been developed.

YOUNG ARCHITECTS COMPETITION / ‘TREE HOUSE’ Competition Project Finalist Honorable Mention Spring 2020 Team Work Les Trois-Moutiers, France w/ Ömer Faruk Demir,Meltem Çinar

This ‘Tree House’ project was a competition that aimed to create a shelter in nature and how human senses and other creatures could live together. With 3 sample castles and areas shared with the conditions of the competition, it was asked to develop a strategy on how the project will affect people and what benefits it will provide to the region.

It was also among the competition criteria for applicability and modularity. We were expected to design 2 treehouse variations. One of them should be smaller and the other should have been a design with sauna inside. In the design decision, one of them was associated with water and the other with the tree. The project was awarded the Finalist Honorable Mention.

A Man who lives in nature has always been in touch with nature throughout his life cycle, and has managed to live in nature. The close relationship of man with nature has gradually decreased with urbanization and has been replaced by daily activities such as a camp, picnic or trekking. As a result of the desire to be with nature and the feeling of peace,

the ‘Tree House’ typology has been added to human life and architecture. The tree house is a place of retreat and interaction that reconciles people with nature and makes them understand themselves. Man is retreated in the naivety of nature and finds peace and looks for ways to re-establish the interaction man lost against nature. In terms of architecture, the tree house is an experiential and a calm space that takes its structural strength from

On all these ideas, la liaison project aims to design tree houses that rejuvenate the communication that people have lost against nature and to seek calmness. The main purpose in the established contexts is to provide maximum interaction with nature and natural elements (flora, fauna) and at the same time to obtain a retreat. Each floor is mounted to the tension rope system and an swinging motion is obtained over the floor. This is also valid for the structural elements required to hang the cabin. The main façade system is stretched in the vertical plane thanks to the etfe material with flexibility, and the form takes its’ final stage.

Since The Interaction Cabin is a ground-pressing unit, it draws its strength from a rigid wood structure system. Although the main facade is rebuilt with a tension system, floors are connected to the main column with wooden beams and a suitable floor is prepared for the functions.

Dialog Usak

The street is the commonplace of the city dwellers. It is the fundamental public space of the city, where both people who have a door opening to the street and the people passing through it have equal rights of use. When the solid mass boundaries of the built environment break and begin to offer opportunities for different users, the city itself begins to live with the people in it. When the citizen can have a say on the life of the city in this living city, he adopts his place.

Streets are two doors away from living rooms and the corridors of the city. It is the closest and most belonging public space we have.Cities are places where people interact as social beings. Even though the man was the creator of this space, over time he fell under the domination of the space he established and lost the hierarchy war they entered with the solid masses they built, the machines he designed, and the tools. Over time, he lost his environmental awareness.

space by personalizing the space. The built environment should be able to meet existing and possible human needs. The city should be able to reorganize itself at the end of the change. In cities that are equipped with flexible structures, the borders established with the buildings become permeable, a new interface between the individual and the city is formed. The city comes to life and begins to live with its residents.

His dialogue with his environment weakened. In other words, space has a directing effect on human actions.Cities established by man, could not respond to the complex structure of the human being. While the individual can easily adapt to the changing conditions and produce new dialogues against the new conditions caused by the change, the built environment does not have this flexibility. However, the individual reestablishes his authority over the

Flexible structures should be built to ensure the continuity of use of the space and to prevent the use of public spaces from being interrupted. As long as space does not meet the needs of the individual, it will be reconstructed and undergo a construction process.

This will cause both time and financial losses, as well as restricting the use of public space by the individual during the construction period. The project came second in the competition for the redesign of the Hallein Salt Mine. Both the aboveground visitor center (above ground) and the underground salt mine (underground) were the subject of the task.

A combination of structural and media redesign of the entire facility was proposed under the motto “The salt mountain is calling.

Just as the salt was mined from the mountain and brought to the near and far land, so the new visitor center rises from the mountain and offers visitors a staged view of the Salzach valley landscape below. The day is reserved for the experience of the visitors, in the evening “salt dinners”, small events, symposium, music or theater performances can be held and thus give the unique location additional added value.

If it is “above day” the distance of the landscape that comes to the fore, “below day” the depth of the earth and the materiality of the salt are decisive. The aim was to create a spatial, temporal and historical overall concept through a thematic tour of the visitor, which unites worlds layered on top of each other: ancient and modern, underground and surface mining, land and city come together in the salt worlds.

Professional Ă–zge TaĹ&#x;pÄąnar 2018-2020

The materiality of the architecture and the staging of the materiality can thus reconnect elements from the most varied of epochs, styles and worlds - the mountain itself functions as a medium for this.

While the underground spaces create a darker and softer perception, they turn from traditional to a modern perception as they get closer and higher to the earth. CINEMA PARADISO

RE-DESIGNING A CINEMA BUILDING [RENOVATION PROJECT] Construction Project Winter 2019 In-Office Work Baden,Austria w/ Heri und Salli Architektur

This special project was requested by the owner of the building and the cinema to maintain certain common tradition and offer new possibilities. The main purpose was that people could come and go without breaking their habits in the city of Baden, where the building and the established cinema culture are located.

For this reason, the process of redesigning the building started with long analyzes and everything to be protected or reused was determined. Some new movie theaters and foyer areas have been proposed to make the user comfortable. Permits were obtained to realize the project later.

Design The architectural appearance of the new roof structure is based on the one hand on the existing Cinema Paradiso - the new dome-like hall follows the circular shape of the existing dome and builds on it. On the other hand, there is the consistently gable-like roof landscape of Baden city center.

The material reference to the urban environment and the compression at the location of the Cinema Paradiso should be reflected in the functionality of the building as a cross-location, cultural attraction. Following the shape of the outside, the new hall should also create a dome-like space inside, which meets the current acoustic requirements of a contemporary event and performance hall.

Professional Özge Taşpınar 2018-2020

For the Cinema Paradiso in Baden, an additional event room is to be created in the top floor area with the option of a roof terrace, connected to a restaurant and subsequently generally accessible. For this purpose, the existing dome is to be removed and replaced by a new, also again dome-like, construction, following the building regulations.

The aim of the project is to strengthen the existing transition and to propose a new meeting area by researching the concept of the square. Also designing a music center which is near by and connected the square with music.

Taksim square and its surroundings are one of the most important locations in the country and the city. Therefore, when starting the project, it was started by making researches on various layers. With most of the data in the historical background of the taksim, as well as the still existing political and sociological situation, it showed that this memory should not be viewed from just one side. People’s tendency to be commune, which started with football matches,

later turned it into a place of action and protest, giving it a psychological sense of freedom. The Gezi events and all political and political activities that emerged afterwards played an important role in the emergence of social consciousness, that the public should have a say in terms of discussing the square and producing more useful solutions. Despite these, some wrong productions and restrictions made the square a pile of concrete and the use of people in

this square decreased. Apart from all these, with the demolition of the AKM building, discussions began about what would happen to the “wide facade overlooking the Taksim”, which brought a lot of discussion. First of all, Maçka and its surroundings were also included in these analyzes. It was observed that human circulation could not continue and there were many obstacles. Together with the level differences in the field, it was investigated how

INTERRUPTIONS FROM SITE

to handle these situations. Basically, continuity and permeability were taken as a basis and this was done on some principles. While making the main decisions, 3 different structures and the transitions between them were studied and then plan schemes were created in which all transitions and buildings interlock and intertwine. This interlocking situation was studied through certain relationships between wall and water prototypes.
