MASTER THESIS PROJECT CONNECTIONS: A Footbridge and Library on the island of Zorrotzaurre

Zorrotzaurre is an island located northwest of Bilbao, artificially created due to the opening of a canal whose initial purpose was to allow the entry of large ships in the 60s. Due to the de-industrialization that Bilbao has suffered over the years, the island of Zorrotzaurre has become one of the last remnants of the city’s industrial past and for this reason it is currently largely abandoned. One of the main problems it faces is the lack of infrastructure that connects the island with its neighboring areas, and therefore integrates it into the urban fabric of the new city of Bilbao. The project was born from the idea of solving ​​ this situation, through a hybrid walkway that connects Zorrotzaurre with the neighborhoods on the other side of the Ría and adds a Library program for the new urban future of the island.

MAHOU-CALDERร N PROJECT Urban proposal for the Mahou-Calderรณn Area

Dividing the proposal into two areas, urban and landscaping, an organization system based on programmatic bands is applied, in reference to the studies of Rem Koolhass for the La Villette park project. The urban proposal is ordered by linear blocks creating different scenarios in the public space interconnected through diagonals that connect the

endowment programs. The urban proposal generates different programmatic atmospheres, being able to cross them transversely or go through them individually.


RADIAL PROJECT Beekeeping and Environmental Research Center

The project is located in Nuevo Baztan, a city with a historical industrial character that demands a renewal of its activities to encourage tourism. The project consists of a large center for beekeeping and environmental research, with a diverse program where uses of residence, research, training and public spaces are mixed.

Ardeas Contest, Museum on the Nile MoAN1603

Proyectamos el museo como una sucesión de 4 bloques separados por canales que recuerden las inundaciones periódicas que sufría el Nilo antes de la construcción de la presa de Asuán. Los bloques se adaptan a la forma y dimensiones que tienen las parcelas de cultivo en ese área mientras que los canales facilitan el regadío de las parcelas adyacentes y recuperan el valor de la agricultura sumergida en el río Nilo, llegando a integrarse en el propio conjunto del museo. El acceso al edificio se realiza por la parte trasera a través de una plaza pública generada por el movimiento de los distintos bloques. Este acceso permite que los bloques puedan llegar hasta el agua y formar parte del propio río. El museo incluye dos salas de exposiciones permanentes, una de exposiciones temporales, un mirador, una sala de conferencias y otra de audiovisuales, un restaurante y un gran hall de acceso con espacios para los trabajadores del museo y una tienda como salida de la visita. El proyecto se integra en el medio de una forma discreta y natural, con volúmenes de una única altura y empleando los materiales de la zona para su construcción, como la piedra caliza.
