To make absolutely sure the departed stayed in their tomb, they weighted the soil down with a heavy stone. At first, people were buried anywhere, generally near where they had died or been killed. Graves could therefore be found in the most unexpected places. Primitive society looked on a dead body as some-
thing impure. To touch it or merely walk over the burial place defiled the person. It was for this reason that they marked graves with stones. These were meant to be a warning to passers-by to keep well away. At times, to make the stones stand out more clearly, they were coated with lime. The identical consideration
www.looking4online.com led to the origin of the cemetery. Special fields, removed from human habitation, were set apart to isolate the dead in order to protect the living from contamination. A later development was the worship of graves. The tombstone was looked upon as an abode of a deity or a spirit. People were then no longer worried about getting defied,
but about the grave being desecrated. Thus they heaped stones on it to prevent animals from digging up the body. Inscriptions on headstones and monuments came later. Initially, they were reserved merely for people of rank, to draw special attention to their last resting-place and to invite passers-by to pray for their soul. L4

Hacked Jennifer Lawrence Pics Raise iCloud Safety Questions Hundreds of nude photos of celebrities allegedly leaked online Sunday, raising a larger question of whether Apple’s storage server iCloud is secure.
N
ude and explicit photos and videos of more than 100 mostly female celebrities—including Jennifer Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst and Kate Upton—were posted on the online bulletin board 4chan Sunday, claiming to be personal images hacked from various phones after an iCloud security leak. While its unclear how the photos were obtained, representatives for some celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence have confirmed that the leaked photos are of her. Lawrence’s rep told the Hollywood Reporter the incident is “a flagrant violation of privacy.”
However, celebrities are not the only people subject to hacking. An apparent software glitch along with weak passwords are reportedly allowing hackers to gain full access to an iCloud account. The FBI issued a statement Monday saying it is looking into the recent celebrity leaks. According to the UK’s Mirror, Apple is working on fixing the glitch. Who’s been hacked? There’s a list of 100 celebrity women -- and one man -- whose photos were supposedly downloaded and stolen by a hacker. It includes A-listers, notably Oscar-
winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, and D-listers whose names you may not recognize. Many of them only found out they were victims because of media reports naming them, but others -- such as Lawrence -- found out when social networks exploded with buzz about nude photos being distributed online. Lawrence and two others, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead and model-actress Kate Upton, almost immediately confirmed the images were of them. Several others -- including singer Ariana Grande, gymnast McKayla Maroney and singer-actress Victoria Justice -- said photos supposed to be of them were fakes. Justice later tweeted that she did, in fact, suffer “a serious violation of privacy” with real photos leaked. While Rihanna is on the list, it might have been a waste of a hacker’s energy, because the singer is known for frequently sharing revealing photos of herself on Twit-
ter and Instagram. Being on the hacked celebrity list doesn’t mean the hackers actually found any racy photos. Actress-singer Keke Palmer, 21, was on the list, but has never taken or kept nude photos on her phone or elsewhere, her mother said. The former Nickelodeon star, now playing Cinderella on Broadway, was taught early in her career about the dangers, she said. Others reportedly hacked include: Aubrey Plaza, Avril Lavigne, Cat Deeley, Farrah Abraham, Gabrielle Union, Hayden Panettiere, Hope Solo, Hillary Duff, Jenny McCarthy, Kate Bosworth, Kim Kardashian, Kirsten Dunst, Mary Kate Olsen, Meagan Good, Sarah Schneider, Selena Gomez, Teresa Palmer, Vanessa Hudgens and Winona Ryder. How did the hacking happen? The hacker apparently took advantage of a security flaw in Apple’s online backup service, iCloud. Many online services lock someone out after several unsuccessful attempts to log in, but not Apple’s “Find My iPhone” app and iCloud. That has been changed by
Apple in the aftermath of the nude celebrity photo scandal. But with unlimited guesses, a computer program can generate and test thousands of potential passwords until an account is entered. It is called a “brute force” attack. The tendency of many people to choose weak passwords and to use the same password for each service helped. Once a celebrity’s “Find My iPhone” app password is discovered, the same password often can access iCloud. People might never know their accounts have been compromised. Another thing makes the famous more vulnerable. Wikipedia and many other websites provide biographical information that can help a hacker guess passwords or answers to security questions. Nearly a decade ago, Paris Hilton’s Sidekick cell phone was accessed when a hacker guessed her password was Tinkerbell, the name of her famous teacup chihuahua. Apple said on Tuesday that the company’s core computer systems, which house all its users’ data, were not hacked. “Certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions, a practice that has become all too common on the Internet” Apple said L4

intimately connected to what we call aging. Why that happens is a question that has been asked for hundreds of years and whose answers medical science has been trying to find. Very well, Dr. Herbert Nagasawa has discovered, after decades of research, the key to all this racket. It is called Glutathione, a small molecule inside the cells which we have to take good care of if we

want to delay our oxidative processes. The continuous attacks our Glutathione suffers from us are constant and effective. We eat badly, drink what we shouldn’t and breathe a corrupted air; we are a true disaster when it comes to taking care of our cells, no less our Glutathione. The result is that we lose its help, diminish its efficacy and start our oxidation process more quickly, i.e., we age dramatically. All because of our ungrateful meddling. The answer for where to start delaying this harmful process has to do with helping our Glutathione to recover. Dr. Nagasawa’s 25 yearresearch, after proving that the key to achieve this starts here, searched for the way of sending help to this small molecule. Thus was born the study of the cysteine, the most effective way of renewing our Glutathione’s strengths, helping us not oxide. If you think all can be reduced to, “OK, let’s help our Glutathione”, again you’re wrong. When our friend Dr. Nagasawa found out Glutathione was the key to the process and the cysteine was the help, he had to find the way so that those elements could meet. From that came forth Riboceine, the most effective way and the only one until now of really fortifying Glutathione with cysteine in an effective way. So now we know where to help, with which element and how to send such help. It all sounds
at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center explaining those discoveries, and we can be sure of something: Glutathione is the word to remember, if your memory still functions suitably; and if not, it would be wise to dedicate some time to learn more about it - your body will thank you for it. L4

was born in the english county of Surrey in 1945. His early musical inspiration came from the blues, and, as he recalls, “I started my career playing an acoustic guitar in a pub by myself”. However, it was his electric work with The Yardbirds(which he joined in 1963) and then John Mayall’s Bluesbrakers that won him fervent admiration, and even worship: a piece oh London graffiti from the period proclaimed “Clapton is god”. The last band Derek and the Dominos was Clapton’s last official group and, at the time of its breakup, ha was suffering from serious drug problems. An allstart live concert, designed to relaunch his career and organized by The Who’s Pete Townshend, took place at London’s Rainbow Theater in January 1973. It also marked Clapton’s first appearance with “Blackie”, the Fender Stratocaster that had supplanted Gibson les Paul and

From his classics covers of songs by J.J. Cale (‘After Midnight’, ‘Cocaine’) and Bob Marley (‘I shot the sheriff’) to his collaborations with George Harrison, B.B. King, Bobo Dyland, and other greats, and his multiple Grammy-winning Unplugged album (1992), Clapton’s solo work has been so rich and varied that it’s almost impossible to summarize. In 2004, he told Guitar and Bass that he considered himself “just...a musician who plays the blues”, and was keen to emphasize his continuing dedication to performing and recording. “I’m not retiring yet. In a way, I’ve been retiring all my life...I mean, I quit The Yardbirds when I was 19, and I was pretty convinced it was the end then!...I guess one day I’ll retire, but I don’t know when.”

But, as a musician seeking excellence we should strive to reproduce what people expect to hear to the best of our ability. Skill and experience play a big part in the level of excellence provided. And, after the song is learned, you may be able to add something new or add your own style. However, too many times I’ve heard “You’ll never reproduce the song exactly as it was recorded” used as an excuse to not practice or learn the song. A majority of the bands playing out in clubs or restaurants have achieved a level of success to be playing professionally. It’s rare to hear original music in the community and even rarer to hear good originals. In any case the recipe must be followed to some degree for the song to be recognizable. The amount sugar may vary slightly or a different brand of particular ingredient can be used but, you cannot leave out the strawberries in strawberry shortcake or the lemons in lemon pie. I just recently realized how much of the ambient sound is provided by the guitar as opposed to the keys. Historically keys have typically used to provide diverse sounds. Also, I just started using fairly recently, a Vocal Harmonizer. It’s the Digitech Vocalist Live 5. The Vocalist provides great harmonies as well as tone management and pedal switching capability. It will provide harmonies from
unison to a multi-part harmony called “Eaglets.” You play an instrument through the pedal and it will determine the harmonies required. It also works pretty well without the instrument input being used. It varies the attack of the backup vocal to emulate a more realistic vocal. This allows for much more diversity in the vocals when doing live music. All these components are part of the recipe of the song. Like a cake or any other recipe, the right parts in the right amounts must be there to satisfy the expectations of the listener. Some listeners are

The voice could be high as in old rock or low as in some country music. The other components such as keys, ambient sounds, bass, drums, other instruments such as mandolin, backup vocals and harmonies could have a significant impact on the sound of the song. to buy a new or a used boat. Each has its pros and cons. New boats are unblemished and should provide you with trouble-free operation right
from the factory, and with the right dealer-prep these boats are in first-class condition. If you are good mechanically, have extra time on your hands, and enjoy projects, you’ll love having a used boat. If you simply can’t afford a new boat, but don’t have the time or skill to take on projects from time-totime, then we recommend you buy a used boat that is simple as possible. The fewer systems a boat has. the fewer things there are to go wrong. For these reasons, we recommend you buy a new boat or a used boat less than three years old from a reputable dealer. Size Matters The size of the boat is an important consideration. The bigger the boat the more features it usu-
ally has, including cabins, galleys (kitchens), heads (toilet areas), and so on. The downside to bigger boats is they have more systems to understand and operate, and they may not be trailerable, and of course, they also cost more, both to buy and to operate. When you’re first getting started in boating you want the experience to be as fun and easy as possible. For that reason, we recommend your first boat be no larger than 22-24 feet, but make sure any boat you buy is certified to carry all the passengers and gear you plan to bring aboard. Even if you’re itching to buy that 35-foot cream start small, if only for 6 months L4

You take a greater risk on the overall quality of a used boat than you do on a new boat since you don’t know the history of the boat, its maintenance, or whether it’s been involved in any type of accident or suffered damage. For this reason you will need to hire a marine surveyor to go over the boat carefully prior to purchase. The survey will reveal any anomalies with the boat, and let you know whether you’re getting a good boat at a good price or simply buying somebody else’s headache. You will find good surveyors in your area at the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS) and the National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) websites. Your own personality also comes into play. If you are the kind of person who must have everything perfect, then you MUST buy new, or a very little used late-model boat.

arine researchers chumming the ocean to lure sharks closer to their vessel off South Africa’s southwestern Cape coast got more than they bargained for when a half-ton (500kilogram) great white shark leaped into their boat. It happened in July 2011, near Seal Island, off Mossel Bay, in a part of the ocean famous for its “flying” sharks. “We go out into the bay every day to get data on the shark population”, said Enrico Gennari, director of Oceans Research, an independent research organization that works with universities and runs public awareness programs to
teach people about sharks. Oceans Research has also collaborated with National Geographic to produce television documentaries about sharks and other predators. “Our team was chumming to attract sharks to the boat so that we could photograph their fins, which, like human finger-

prints are a way to identify individual animals”, Gennari said. “They waited for four or five minutes, but nothing happened until there was an enormous splash and a shark landed in the boat.” The team’s first thought was to make sure everybody was well clear of the giant predator, which was thrashing around on the deck. “They moved everyone out of the way, and then radioed us”, Gennari said. He and a colleague arrived at the boat within minutes. It was not possible to push
the flailing animal back into the sea by hand, and an attempt to pull it off the vessel with a rope attached to the second boat also failed. Shark overboard “We radioed the harbor and said we were on the way, and that we needed a crane. It took about 20 minutes, and the whole time we were splashing water on the shark’s gills, trying to help it breathe”, Gennari said. “At the harbor, a pipe was placed into the
shark’s mouth to pump water over its gills to keep it alive. The crane was used to hoist the animal by its tail, a risky maneuver because its great weight out of the water could have damaged its spine and internal organs. But the only other option we had was to let it die on the boat.” The shark was lowered into the water, but it stranded itself on a harbor beach. Attempts to push it back into the water by hand failed so the Ocean Research team lashed the animal to the side of a boat and drove it out to sea. After half an hour of the assisted swim through the ocean the shark seemed to recover, slapping its tail strongly, Gennari said. The shark was released and it swam away, he added. “We don’t know whether it’s still alive, we hope to see it again soon” Gennari said. The specimen is well known to the Oceans Research because it had been photographed regularly, and it is readily identified by its unique dorsal fin. “This was the first, and hopefully last, time a shark has jumped into our boat” Gennari said. “It was quite stressful for everyone, both for the shark and the humans. But the people were safe and apparently the shark survived, so it really could not have ended better.” White sharks can jump This is not the first time a shark has jumped into a boat in this part of South Africa’s coastal waters. “There have been several incidents of leaping great white sharks in the past” Chris Fallows of Apex Shark Expeditions told National Geographic. Fallows has been monitoring and photographing breaching great white sharks for 20 years. “In 1976 in False Bay, it happened on two different occasions” Fallows wrote. “One of the incidents resulted in a very badly injured fisherman. Sadly in both cases, the shark died”. Apex Shark Expeditions records around 600 to 700 predatory events every year at Seal Island. “Often during these events we see spectacular breaches. It is thus inevitable that over the years we have had a few sharks jump close to the boat, but due to a huge emphasis being placed on safety, good fortune, as well as a fairly large boat, we have thankfully not had a shark land in our boat”. So what could cause a shark to jump on a boat? “There can be several things”, Fallows explained. “In most cases the shark breach in pursuit in something, be it a seal, or fish, or a decoy. Occasionally however, great whites and some other species perform what is known as a natural breach. This type of breach takes place for no apparent reason, although it is speculated that it could have some form of social function of communication or dominance. These breaches are often very high, the mouth of the shark is closed, and it is often when there are several sharks in the immediate vicinity”. L4

ture of the side-valve engines at the heart of the W-series made them an obvious choice for the military use, and by the end of the conflict more than 80,000 had been deployed by the Allies. The WLC model was produced for Canadian forces between 1941 and 1944, Harley-Davidson stepping up to the mark when British manufacturers Norton and BSA were struggling to meet the huge demand for wartime machines from Britain to Canada. Among the bike’s specifications were olive-drab paint for camouflage, blackout lighting, and extending forks for greater ground clearance over rough terrain, while some examples also sported a rifle holster on the front forks. The Canadian variant differed in several ways, including an alternative throttle-lever position, an auxiliary clutch hand lever and wheels that were interchangeable. The 2004 Atlantic hurricane season was the costliest Atlantic hurricane season, until the following year. More than half of the 16 tropical cyclones brushed or struck the United States.
T
he season officially began on June 1, and ended on November 30. Due to a Modoki El Niño – a rare type of El Niño in which unfavorable conditions are produced over the eastern Pacific instead of the Atlantic basin due to warmer sea surface temperatures farther west along the equatorial Pacific – activity was above average. The first storm, Alex, developed offshore of the Southeastern United States on July 31. It brushed the Carolinas and the Mid-Atlantic, causing one death and $7.5 million (2004 USD) in damage. Several storms resulted in minor impact, including tropical storms Bonnie, Earl, Hermine, and Matthew, and Subtropical Storm Nicole. In addition, hurricanes Danielle, Karl, and Lisa, Tropical Depression Ten, and Tropical Storm Otto caused no impact on land while tropical cyclones. Hurricane Charley made landfall Florida as a Category 4 hurricane on the Saffir–Simpson hurricane wind scale (SSHWS), causing $15.1 billion in damage in the United States alone. Later in August, Hurricane Fran-
ces struck the Bahamas and Florida, leaving severe impact. The storm caused at least 49 deaths and $9.5 billion in damage. The most significant storm in terms of intensity and damage was Hurricane Ivan. It was a Category 5 hurricane that devastated multiple countries adjacent to the Caribbean Sea, before entering the Gulf of Mexico and bringing catastrophic impact to the Gulf Coast of the United States, especially Alabama and Florida. Throughout the countries impacted, Ivan left 123 fatalities and over $23.33 billion. The most significant tropical cyclone in terms of deaths was Hurricane Jeanne. In Haiti, torrential rainfall in the mountainous areas resulted in mudslides and severe flooding,
causing at least 3,006 fatalities. Jeanne also struck Florida, inflicting extensive impact. Overall, the storm caused at least $8.1 billion in damage and 3,036 deaths. Collectively, the storms of this season caused at least 3,264 deaths and about $36.1 billion in damage, making it the costliest Atlantic hurricane season at the time, until the following season. Additionally, 2004 was also the deadliest Atlantic hurricane season since 1998. With six hurricanes reaching at least Category 3 intensity, 2004 also had the most major hurricanes since 1964. However, that record would also be surpassed in 2005, with seven;major hurricanes that year. In the spring of 2005, four

The Atlantic hurricane season officially began on June 1, 2004. However, the first system, Hurricane Alex, did not develop until July 31. It was an above average season in which 16 tropical cyclones formed. All but one tropical depression
The real impact The 2004 season was very deadly, with about 3,258 fatalities overall. Nearly all of the deaths were reported in Haiti following the floods and mudslides caused by Tropical Storm Jeanne. The other tropical cyclones that caused fatalities include Hurricane Alex, Charley, Frances, Gaston, and Ivan, and Tropical Storms Bonnie and Earl. Because four out of the six major hurricanes made several landfalls, the season was also extremely damaging, with losses estimated at about $36.1 billion, over half of which was caused by
The 2004 season had numerous unusual occurrences. Florida was severely impacted by four hurricanes during the season – Hurricane Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne. This was the first time four tropical cyclones produced hurricane force winds in one state during a single season since four hurricanes made landfall in Texas in 1886. There were many other hurricanes in the season that were individually unusual. Hurricane Alex was the strongest hurricane on record to intensify north of 38°N latitude. Hurricane Ivan was the most unusual storm of the season. Ivan became the first major hurricane in the Atlantic on record to form as low as 10°N latitude. Ivan was attributed to generating a 91-foot (28-meter) wave, possibly the largest ever recorded; this wave may have been as high as 131 ft (40 m). Additionally, hurricanes Charley and Ivan ranked as the third and second costliest hurricanes in the United States at the time, respectively, behind only Hurricane Andrew. With $57.37 billion in damage, this was the costliest season at the time, until 2005.
Accumulated cyclone energy (ACE) The season’s activity was reflected with a accumulated cyclone energy (ACE) rating of 227, one of the highest values on record in the Atlantic basin. ACE is, broadly speaking, a measure of the power of the hurricane multiplied by the length of time it existed, so storms that last a long time, as well as particularly strong hurricanes, have high ACEs. It is only calculated for full advisories on tropical systems at or exceeding 39 mph (63 km/h), which is tropical storm strength. L4

ming hurricanes, and two to four those hurricanes reaching major intensity. Dr. Gray released a prediction on May 28 that was similar, with 14 named storms, eight reaching hurricane strength, and three becoming major hurricanes. Dr. Gray announced he had revised his predictions slightly downwards on August 6, citing mild El Niño conditions. His new forecast was thirteen named storms, seven hurricanes, and three reaching major hurricane intensity. Several days later, NOAA released an updated prediction as well, with a 90% probability of above-to-near normal activity, but the same number of storms forecast. The season ended up with sixteen tropical depressions, fifteen named storms, nine hurricanes, and six major hurricanes, placing it above all forecasts.
Hurricanes Charley and Ivan. A few other tropical cyclones caused light to moderate damage, including Hurricanes Alex and Gaston and Tropical Storms Bonnie and Matthew. In addition to the 16 tropical cyclones of the season, a tropical low in May brought torrential flooding to Haiti and the Dominican Republic, killing 2,000 people and causing extensive damage. Though the system was not officially classified as a tropical storm, it did have a circulation with loosely organized convection, resembling a subtropical cyclone.

names were retired, which were Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne – tying the then-record most names with 1955 and 1995 – while five were retired in 2005. Forecasts of hurricane activity are issued before each hurricane season by noted hurricane expert Dr. William M. Gray and his associates at Colorado State University (CSU), and separately by forecasters with the U.S. Government’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). According to CSU, the average season between 1950 and 2000 had 9.6 tropical storms, 5.9 hurricanes, and 2.3 major hurricanes, which are Category 3 or higher on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale. A normal season, as defined by NOAA, has 12.1 named storms, of which 6.4 reach hurricane strength and 2.7 become major hurricanes. On May 17, prior to the start of the season, NOAA forecasters predicted a 50% probability of activity above the normal range, with twelve to fifteen tropical storms, six to eight of those beco-
attained tropical storm status, and nine of these became hurricanes. Six hurricanes further intensified into major hurricanes. Although an El Niño developed during the season, activity was above average due to abnormally warm sea surface temperatures. Five hurricanes and three tropical storms made landfall during the season and caused 3,258 deaths and about $57.37 billion in damage. Additionally, Hurricanes Alex and Tropical Storm Earl also caused losses and fatalities, though neither struck land. The season officially ended on November 30, 2004. Tropical cyclogenesis began at the end of July, with the development of Hurricane Alex on July 31.However, it did not become a named storm until the following day, which was the fifth-latest start since the 1952 season.August was an unusually active month, with eight named storms, including Alex. This broke the record for the most named storms in the month of August set in 1933 and 1995.Later, this new record was tied in 2012. On average, there are only three tropical storms and one to two hurricanes in August.Of the eight systems that month, five became hurricanes and three strengthened further into major hurricanes. A total of five tropical cyclones developed in September, including the most intense system of the season, Hurricane Ivan. Activity decreased further in October, with the formation of only two systems, Tropical Storm Matthew and Subtropical Storm Nicole. The season then went dormant for over a month and a half, until Tropical Storm Otto developed on November 29. Otto was the final tropical cyclone of the season and degenerated into a remnant low pressure on December 3.

The 5th and Final Meeting on the River Park Prima Vista Blvd Overlay was held August 23, 2014. Hosted by Saint Lucie County at the Fenn Center as River Park is in the County and is not part of the City of Port St. Lucie.
T
he overlay issue is of great concern because of development over taking a single family neighborhood. Traffic for those living along Prima Vista it is un-bearable. The noise and dirt makes raising a family unsafe. The Brunners’ home SE Naranja & Prima Vista has been hit by a truck breaking the concrete block. At Floresta and Prima Vista accidents take place almost daily. This leaves home owners feeling trapped and unable to sell their home. Homes either stay empty, change to rentals
or into half way homes. Residents behind Prima Vista favor an overlay as they don’t want increased traffic, gas stations, restaurants or fast food stores. They see their neighborhoods being invaded by traffic, lights, noise and motorist coming and going to these businesses. There is also the issue of cut thru traffic that try to avoid the lights at Arioso, Floresta, Naranja and intersections at Beach and Solida. On SE Naranja the Davis’s dog was run over while being walked on a leash in the road by a “cut thru driver”.
52 stake holders attended Saturdays 9:30AM – 11:00AM meeting, 43 stayed to vote, 11 voting for #1scenario, 32 for #2 scenario, and 0 for #3 scenario. Three scenarios were explained by Planning and Development Services, Planning Manger Leslie Olson, AICP. #1 scenario lists all of the possible development that could take place without an overlay. Control would be by existing zoning and existing future land use. #2 scenario places a new overlay based upon the five meetings and County petition mailed out a year ago to all River Park homeowners base3d upon tax roll addresses. It is hoped that we are smarter and wiser today and can draft a new overlay that helps businesses move in and still protects the home owners. The issues as I see them will need more action than what an overlay can do for the neighborhood in order to correct all of these issues. #3 scenario leaves the existing overlay in place making no changes. This retains an un-clear vague overlay. Having businesses develop two home back/deep from Prima Vista
Blvd. also has some residents worried. This would make it a block deep and some residence don’t want to look at a landscaped wall. Others say businesses need two lots deep in order to create buffers and parking. It is very difficult to get anyone to agree on anything. I see the walls behind the Dollar General and three story monster and they are well landscaped and look good to me. Basically those along Prima Vista Blvd. want to get out and feel trapped in their homes. They want
it to be as easy as possible for businesses to buy their property. Homeowners behind Prima Vista Blvd. want more protection from traffic and development. Traffic calming and blocking off some of the neighborhood roads had been discussed. This issue needs to be addressed no matter which overlay scenario is decided on and will take numerous additional meetings before the County will allow anything to change. Most of the roads in River Park do not have a center stripe because they are too narrow. These streets are sub-standard by today’s County requirements. General Development laid out our neighborhood without sidewalks in the 60’s. River Park Homeowners Association (now Neighborhood Association) had to fight to get a wood trestle pedestrian bridge walk way next to the wood vehicle bridge over the river in the 80’s, 30 some years ago. It has not been that long ago River Park was a small quite town. PSL has over grown its infrastructure. If it wasn’t for the City there would not be water or sewer. Many of the water lines are still asbestos transite

I’m walking the dog at 4:30 am (the only safe time) she jumps when the dumpsters are being emptied at the Floresta CVS and Prima Vista auto store. A petition with support of twenty residences in one block, approves of restricting the time for deliveries and emptying the trash dumpsters from between 10:00PM to 7:00AM. The petition also asks for lights to be shielded to protect residences. No drive troughs and no outside speakers. Some gas station pumps play music for their customers and or have speakers to talk to the cashier with. Enough support could make any condition a part of the new overlay. A consensus of those able to attend can be extrapolated to represent the neighborhood but getting our residences to agree has proven to be impossible. Get involved! Be part of the solution and not the problem. Planning and Development Services, Planning Manger Leslie Olson, AICP can be reached at 772 462 – 1589. L4

pipe. The City has changed out the water main along Rio Mar but only changes out the lines with grant money. There are no plans for Naranja’s to have their water mains replaced. In the meantime it is our recommendation that drinking and cooking water be filtered. During heavy rain events the sanitary man holes over flow into the swales and the Saint Lucie River. The City has bought and demolished a home on Gasprilla & Caprona with the intention to build a new pump station; but again there is no money in place for this work either. When the Crosstown Parkway goes through it will help reduce traffic on Prima Vista for a number of years. When Saint Lucie West and PSL get built out, the traffic will be back. Many residents want to see the Prima Vista corridor made into a limited access highway like the Crosstown Parkway. There is no way the County would pay for that. In the past the County has wanted to create a separate taxing district of homeowners along Prima Vista to pay for the construction and maintenance of median traffic separators and landscaping in the middle. This would make it match what the City has done west of Arioso. At the Saturday’s meeting Ms. Olson stated River Parks County Commissioner Paula Lewis is looking for County money to pay for these roadway improvements. What does an overlay do? It has been said that the CVS wanted to build a new larger store on the opposite corner across from the existing store on Prima Vista and Floresta. It changed its mind when they found out the existing overlay prohibited drive troughs. They wanted a drive through prescription pickup. Although this might not seem too bad, our first apartment in south Florida was next to a Barnnet bank. Although the drive through tellers were across the street we could hear ever transaction and knew how each customer wanted their change. I still support no drive troughs for that reason. I do not want outside speakers, music, paging systems of any kind. I live two blocks away and when

fter the rough experience of the few past years, some things have changed in a permanent way. It was the time when many joined the real state agent market without really being professionals of that sector. The voracity of a buyer’s market gave opportunities to anyone who took their license to close deals, which in regular times would only be accomplished by real professionals. The bubble crisis kickstarted a natural selection of survival amongst the true agents and the ones who have risen to the top of the market tsunami. The ones who remained active in this time of uncertainty managed to learn to handle new situations such as properties in foreclosure or the short sales, and understand new ways of facing such setback, where the banks managed miles of empty properties.

Alongside the buffet we also find varied options of pasta and fish, and from a small window a friendly meat cutter offers you a wide assortment of meats, from beef to chicken to veal. Steps 1. Mix together the marinade ingredients. Cut each chicken breast into four pieces, add to the marinade, cover and leave for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight in the refrigerator. 2. Peel the pearl onions; blanch them in boiling water for 5 minutes and drain. If using medium onions, quarter them after blanching. 3. Cut each slice of bacon in half with a sharp knife. Peel the bananas and cut each one into three pieces. Wrap half a bacon rasher around each of the banana pieces. 4. Thread the bacon and bananas onto metal skewers with the chicken pieces, onions and pepper pieces. Brush generously with the marinade. 5. Cook on a low grill for about 15 minutes, turning and basting frequently with the marinade. 6. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a frying pan and stir-fry the diced pepper briefly. Add the rice and peas and stir until heated through. Serve Harlequin Rice with the kebabs.
