Welcome
to Galapagos! Located 1000km / 600 miles from the mainland, the enchanting Galapagos Islands are easily Ecuador’s greatest draw, famed worldwide for their high number of endemic wildlife species above and under the waves. Formed by a series of volcanic eruptions, the archipelago evolved in complete isolation. Charles Darwin was the first person to discover in 1835 that the islands are a true living laboratory of evolution, which you can experience yourself until today. Due to a lack of major predators, wildlife is fearless, and animal encounters are unlike any other place on earth. The Galapagos Marine Reserve offers the most extraordinary diving, by many considered among the best in the world. The confluence of three major oceanic currents allow encounters with giant whale sharks (june-november), schooling hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, great variety of rays, marine iguanas, big schools of salema, barracuda, snappers and groupers, mola mola (ocean sunfish), huge sea turtles, playful sea lions and much more astonishing marine life.
