Annual Programs vs. Session Programs

What is the difference?

Annual (28-week) Programs:

We are now offering our Dabka and Arabic programs as Annual Programs that will run for a total of 28 weeks throughout the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Parents will no longer need to register their child(ren) for each individual session– instead, registration will happen one time only at the start of the fall session and last until the end of the spring session in June.

Why are we doing this?

Attending Dabka or Arabic consistently for an entire year, it will help students strengthen their skills and more easily progress from level to level.

The majority of our previous Dabka and Arabic program students are recurring students throughout the sessions so this will help minimize the time it takes to re-register a child and also minimize the likelihood of missed or forgotten payments.

All Dabka and Arabic students will be with the same group of students for the duration of the year so this helps create long-lasting relationships among the child(ren) and will add a sense of comfort/ community to each class.

What do I have to do?

Our annual program will only be open to those who are part of our PACC Family Discount program (see previous page). So you have to sign up! Becoming a PACC Family Discount member will allow anyone who is registered for our annual programs to receive special discounts on all programs throughout the year.

What are the perks?

All annual program registrants will receive FREE homework help as needed between the months of September to May. Our Homework Help program runs Monday through Thursday from 4 pm to 6 pm. Through having a consistent stream of students throughout the year, PACC is able to offer the annual program pricing at a more affordable rate than per session.

Session Long Programs:

Similar to our previous sessions, we will still be offering session long programs. We will offer a wide variety of programs for all ages that you and your family can enjoy without having to commit for the entire year. Examples of these programs include Arabic Storytime, Cooking Club, Tatreez, Basketball, Soccer, Sewing, and so much more! Scheduling details and pricing are listed on the upcoming pages.

Our fall session programs will run for TEN WEEKS only and will begin on Saturday, September 30 and will end on Friday, December 8.

PACC Program Schedule for the 2023-2024 Year

Fall Programs 2023 Palestinian American Community Center

Fall Session:

Duration: 10 weeks

Dates: Saturday, September 30 to Friday, December 8

Make-up Week: Monday, December 11 to Sunday, December 17

Closures during fall dates:

- Thanksgiving from November 23 to November 26.

The make-up classes for Thanksgiving closure will be held on December 9 and December 10 for Saturday/ Sunday programs and November 27 for Thursday & Friday programs.

Our center will be closed for Winter Break from December 24, 2023 to January 3, 2024– we will not be holding programs during this time. Our Annual Programs will resume January 6, 2024.

Winter Session:

Duration: 8 weeks

Dates: Saturday, January 6 to Sunday, February 25

Make-up Week: Monday, February 26 to Sunday, March 3

Our center will not be holding programs during the month of Ramadan (March 11, 2024 to April 10, 2024). We will resume our Annual Programs after Eid Al- Fitr on April 13, 2024.

Spring Session:

Duration: 10 weeks

Dates: Saturday, April 13 to Sunday, June 16

Make-up Week: Monday, June 17 to Sunday, June 22

Closures during fall dates:

-Memorial Day on Monday, May 27

We will be open for Memorial Day weekend, but we will have to make-up the Monday that we will be closed on Tuesday, May 28.

-Eid Al-Adha on June 16

The make-up for this date will be on Sunday, June 23.

Annual Program Scheduling:

By registering for one of our Annual Programs in the fall, you will automatically be enrolled for the full 28-week session (which includes our Fall, Winter and Spring sessions). Programs that we are offering as “Annual Programs” are the following:

Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Dabka for all 8 to 16 year olds

Arabic Language Program for all 5 to 14 year olds

Homework help

Our Annual Programs will run from September 30, 2023 to June 22, 2024 (with occasional breaks in-between to observe national and religious holidays - this will be in line with our breaks between sessions).

ANNUAL PROGRAMS & PRICING

Annual Homework Help Program

Our Annual Homework Help program is open to all students in grades Kindergarten to 8th Grade. Our homework tutors are able to provide assistance with Mathematics, English/ Language Arts, Social Studies or Science homework.

Although our Annual Programs usually require you to register at the start of the fall session in September, you can register for our Homework Help program at any time during the school year. Your child(ren) will be allowed to attend the program as long as you pay the PACC Family Discount membership fee of $50.

Our Homework Help program for the 2023- 2024 school year will begin on Monday, September 11 and will run for the entire year until May 31. The program will take place weekly between these dates from Monday through Thursdays from 4 pm until 6 pm.

Annual (28-week) Dabka Program

Our Annual Dabka program is open to all kids ages 8 to 16 years old and includes classes for Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced level Dabka students.

**Once again, please note that by registering your child(ren) for our annual Dabka program, you are automatically registering for the entire 28-week session (fall to spring).**

All Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Dabka classes will take place every Saturday and Sunday during these dates. Our 2024 Dabka Recital will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Prior to beginning the program on September 30, all those who register for Dabka will be required to attend a MANDATORY Placement Day on Saturday, September 23, 2023 so that we can place them in the appropriate Dabka class.

Dabka Placement Day: September 23, 2023 (one week before program start date)

Boy’s dabka auditions and placements will take place from 10 am to 12 pm.

Girl’s dabka auditions and placements will take place from 12 pm to 2 pm.

PACC will be closed for:

- Thanksgiving from November 23, 2023 to November 26, 2023

The make-up classes for Thanksgiving closure will be held on December 9 and December 10 for Saturday/ Sunday programs and November 27 for Thursday & Friday programs.

- Winter Break from December 24, 2023 to January 3, 2024

Palestine Education Program

HOPE: Holding Onto Palestinian Existence

CALLING (MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY) INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT PALESTINE!

THIS COURSE IS FULLY *VIRTUAL* and will happen through Zoom.

HOPE is a virtual course catered for middle school and high school students to educate them about Palestinian history, culture, traditions, and struggle. By also providing them with a larger, global understanding of social justice issues, we hope that students become passionate about and advocate for Palestine and other oppressed communities. After completing this course, students will be able to:

Name prominent aspects of Palestinian culture and heritage. Identity their role in the Palestinian struggle and other social justice issues through a deep analysis of their identity and placement in the US/diaspora. Learn important dates in Palestine’s history and understand the ways in which Israel oppresses Palestinians today. Confidently talk about and educate peers about the historical and contemporary reality of the occupation of Palestinians using the right key terms. Connect with and sustain relationships with other youth interested in social justice and Palestine.
