A Word from the President and ED Firstly, we hope you, your family and loved ones are all healthy and safe as we navigate these unprecedented times. COVID-19 has most certainly brought a lot of underlying issues in our society to the surface. I am so proud and honored to be part of our community. It is truly amazing how you have shown up for one another. Thanks to your generosity, I have seen more selflessness than I have ever seen before in my life. When the pandemic started, our focus shifted to social services because of you.

Donations began coming in one after the other and we knew we had to get to work! You were able to provide sanitary packages of gloves, masks and sanitizer to over 1,000 families, 9 police and fire departments, 3 hospitals and 5 senior citizen homes. We gave boxes of food essentials to over 1,000 families, and hot meals for 500 individuals Monday through Friday for over a month.

This was all because of YOU! You were able to launch a full set of virtual programming that kept our community educated and entertained. In addition, we grew our following to a national level where we had people tuning in from all over the country to benefit from our virtual series including Palestine Mondays, Workshop Wednesdays and Community Check-in Fridays. This was not only a temporary fix, but has completely opened a new opportunity for us where we will continue to offer our services online for our newfound community across the country to keep benefitting from.

You also made significant change in our Arab American fabric by registering 160 people to vote before this last election. You also ensured that we matter and we count by helping 452 households complete the census.

Everything we do is centered in our theory of change. If we empower and organize our community locally, then we will have a positive impact on our society here and in Palestine. This model is what has always grounded and will continue to ground us. We will continue to focus on long term change that will make a difference for generations to come.

3rd Bi-Annual PACC Day with the largest attendance to date

Launched our First hybrid course about Palestine for young adults called Freedom is the Future course

Hosted our most well attended Palestine Monday with Dr. Rashid Khalidi and over 100 participants in attendance

May 4, 2020 Governor Phil Murphy gave the Palestinian American Community Center a shout out for all of our COVID-19 Relief work via a Facebook post and verbally in his daily briefing.

Launched our most successful voter registration and GOTV campaign to date.

Best Giving Tuesday to date with a record number of 488 supporters mainly young adults.

COVID-19

Phases of our COVID-19 Relief efforts

Focused on Food and PPE Distribution that mainly consisted of us delivering produce and meat boxes to people to minimize contact. We also distributed 500 individual meals a day.

Hosted a food pantry at our center.

We have a dedicated Case Worker to research and refer each client to the appropriate organization or government program that they need to achieve long-term and sustainable solutions in addition to short-term relief.

Transitioned to members picking up the boxes and meals themselves.

Included two focus areas: 1) Reaching out to our clients and assessing their most dire needs and 2) Providing them food boxes and/or food vouchers on a need and supply basis.

Covid Education Campaign

You took the lead in raising awareness and information disbursement in English and Arabic

You held community check-ins on Facebook and Instagram every Friday

You placed a banner on Main Street to encourage people to wear Gloves and Masks

You hosted over 100 virtual events

You distributed 400 “No Masks and Gloves, No Service” Signs for Businesses

You helped disinfect and clean Main Street and major Masajid in our area.

Meals

You gave countless referrals to our community members that needed help with rental assistance, paying bills, health insurance and much more!

You provided free tutoring and homework to at least 30 elementary, middle school and high school students in our community both virtually and in-person.

You gave out 2,000 boxes of meat, chicken and/or dried products and canned foods to families and community members in need.

You gave out over 3,000 toys to our community

You gave sanitary packages that included gloves, masks, sanitizer, baby wipes and disinfectants to over 1,500 families.

You gave 35,000 masks to hospitals, senior citizen homes, first responders, local small businesses and our community members.

You gave 225 families vouchers ranging in value from $50 to $80 to Al-Hilal Fish and Meat Market and Al-Quds Supermarket so that the families can buy meat and what they need most.

Financial Assistance You partnered with CUMAC and The New Jersey Fund to give 36 families assistance totaling $32,050 in support.

Census

According to the results of surveys filled out by our staff and interns: June 22nd
